Seems like this comes up every year. 1-- Some of us are a little old. I can stand the entire game but I don't like to. I will go up and down on exciting plays. But I've also found out that I can yell while seated. 2-- I've been all over the world. The good ole US of A is one of the few countries that doesn't honor old people and we certainly have lost whatever we once had of manners. If an older person was behind me and asked me to sit down so that they may also enjoy the game, I would sit down. If a younger couple ask me to sit down I would also sit. As a fan and supporter I want everyone to enjoy the game and I certainly don't want to scare away the casual fan with rude or unseemly behavior towards them, or their attire, or my bad manners. 3-- If I felt that I just had to stand up I would offer to exchange seats with those sitting behind me. If I absolutely had to stand because it was so important to me to enjoy the game, I'd go to a section where that was the routine. 4-- Why is your standing so important that it spoils the game for others who can't or just don't want to. Isn't that selfish?

Was it our defense or your QB. Depends on which team you root for. Our QB didn't have his normal game either. Did the offense not take care of the ball or did the defense force fumbles? Again, it depends on which team you root for.
What I saw was two very good teams playing in a very tough game. Both teams had advantages and weaknesses against the other. Both teams made adjustments to exploit advantages and eliminated weaknesses. And both team's players played every down to the final whistle. It's the type of game I enjoy watching.

Smith and Chunn are both good. I bit my lip every time Smith got a little bit of open space to run. He was fast, agile, and made you miss. Troy had a guy like that in Demontray Carter back in 99 or 2000. Chunn will run over you. Troy hasn't seen that since DeWitt Betterson (see Missouri game tape). Chunn and Smith are both exciting to watch and both can make a defender look like a JV high school kid in a one-on-one situation.
If Southern Miss and Troy play every game like they did last Saturday, they'll both win a lot of games and be in a bowl somewhere

11-1 talk is nice to hear after everything the program has gone through, but the prime directive is still to get to six wins, first and foremost. Lets not put the cart before the trojan horse, we still have a wall to rebuild, and there are still lots of good football teams left on the schedule. ARKST, APP, and GS in particular are still juggernauts, despite out of conference play by some. If we lose all three (don't think we will), we're still 8-4 if we clean up the rest. That would be a great year for Troy. College teams can change a lot over the course of the season. They all hope to get better every game and they should and usually do, but some get better than others. That's why college football is so exciting.

Watching Denver vs Carolina, the Bronco fans seem to enjoy the IN-COM-PLETE cheer. I like it as well and hope they bring it back. Agreed. It used to drive the opposing team and their fans nuts. I loved it. I liked it and the audience saying First Down

We need a better pre-game to lead the fans in cheering. Most of the bigger schools we go to do it. There is too much dead time from the time the band makes the T and marches to the helmet and when the team runs out. We need a guy/gal on the field like we have in the basketball games acting as a master of ceremonies for cheering. T-Roy needs some type of chariot or bring the horse back. We are Trojans -- capitalize on that idea and expand on it.

Just to clarify. I never complained about it taking longer than expected. I have no problem with a completion date in 2018, 2019, or 2020. I complained about the athletic department never explaining WHY things are being delayed again and again and again. Folks, I wrote a check and handed it to Steve Dennis in late 2012 after they made the announcement in May of that year and I have written many checks since then. Here’s the article. www.troymessenger.com/2012/05/30/troy-looks-to-get-north-end-zone-expansion-project-off-the-ground/As a booster, you would think I would at least be in the loop with what’s happening with the project. It's ironic that if I would have spent $25 and sent my bride to Football 101, she would know more about the project than me and I have been contributing to the program for many years. The lack of communication and follow up around this process is just disappointing. Surf Report: The surf has gone away. It’s running shin to knee high. The winds are coming out of the WSW at 2-4 mph causing for some texture but no real surf. Looks like we have some flatness in store for us the next few days. AMEN!

I voted for Southern Miss and most can understand why and I understand why Clemson (big time) and South Alabama (rival instate) and Texas State (great road trip) and Georgia Southern ( good team last game and may mean something)....but Idaho has a vote is someone from there? Or is it a yearning to see an airplane hanger with a football game in it? It's the ELK sausage!

I only know one girl that got a scholarship to play and she told me that she was never looked at in High School games. She was on a travelling team between her junior and senior years and that is when she was contacted. She said her high school coach told her parents that she was good enough to play at the next level and that they needed to put her on a travelling team.

Attendance for football is dismal. Troy may not be the best team in Alabama, but they are good enough to make the games fun to watch. Troy doesn't have a huge stadium, but they do have a nice one and compared to the two SEC schools, tickets are cheap. Students only have 6k or so on campus, so let's not blame them. The alumni is scattered and small in numbers too.
In my humble, but usually accurate opinion, Troy needs to concentrate on the whole gameday experience. Troy can't afford to alienate any group, in fact they need to cater to them. I've heard some say we want the students, but when the students act badly, they don't want to be around them. We want the casual fan, but Lord help him if he shows up wearing anything other than Troy gear. We want families, but they need to tolerate foul language and inconsiderate fans around them. If you read this board, the rules to be a fan include (but are certainly not limited to) 1-- you have to be able to stand every minute of every game. 2-- you tolerate foul language and drunken behavior. 3-- You don't dare wear any fan clothing from another school. 4-- You ridicule donors, especially all 800 in the stadium club for not cheering the way they are supposed to. I could go on.
The gameday experience should be a pleasant, fun, enjoyable time. There will always be the self-centered idiot that wants you to notice him/her but for the vast majority of us, we just want to enjoy a college gameday atmosphere, and watch a good college football game. Troy can certainly provide that with a little imagination, and effort.
I think there are lots of things Troy can do to make the whole experience better. -- The band and cheerleaders could be more involved in pre-game. Some schools break them into small groups, roam around campus, play, dance, socialize and then come together at some point for a grand entry. -- It is a halftime show. Incorporate other things into halftime. Some schools do animations. Have competitions among students for books, gear, gift certificates, or others. -- Incorporate Greek week into gameday. Have spirit competitions. Homecoming is getting better. -- we are Trojans; If we can't have the horse at least fix a golf cart or something up like a chariot. Put some plywood on the sides painted like horses and have it pull a chariot with a Trojan Warrior in the chariot. Have him lead the team out on the field. -- Put a Master of Ceremonies on the field for pregame. Look how other schools use the time after the band quits playing but before the team runs out to rev up the fans. Bring back the East side Troy, West side Trojans, or a similar cheer. Have the Trojan Warrior's chariot racing around the stadium. (Personally I like the Princess on the horse). Maybe we can have both. -- The kids zone is nice but I think we need some more adult activities. Maybe a large tent were visitors can come, get a snack and a beer, watch TV, and tailgate a little.
Lastly put a good team on the field. They don't have to win every game but they should be competitive and play to win every game.
Just a few ideas but there must be 100's of things we could do that just take a little effort and not a lot of money and/or time.
We need to attract the communities of Troy, Montgomery, Dothan, and Phenix City. If we can get those people and the immediate surrounding areas coming to the games and having a good time, I think we'll fill up the stadium.

I'm not mad at athletics for doig this, however I do wish that they would allow for gear and apparel worn by athletes to be allowed to public. Also I'm worried that this stipend doesn't turn into, we want more money so we will not play until our demands are met type deal Of course it will turn into "I want more money or I won't play". Eventually lawyers, agents, and anyone else who can make some money off this will get into asking for more.

$3000 is a lot of money. Their housing, food, books, tuition, snacks, everything they need to live and go to school on is paid for. I probably don't spend $100 a week on "untethered" stuff after I take out all my living expenses. At most that's $5200 a year. $3000 for a school year is substantial. Could be payment on a good used car.

These may have been new officials and are building their team. We need to give them four or five years to get used to working together. If they don't make the right calls after the fourth year ...................... LOL

I think we are slowly moving toward eliminating student from student-athlete. Yes there is a lot of money involved and that drives the train. Before the money became the driving factor schools like Army and Navy could compete because they truly had student-athletes. Now we recruit the athlete and then spend a huge amount of resources leading them through college in the hopes they pass with minimum grades. There are still some student-athletes but I predict they will slip into the past. The power schools are diving this train, they have the money to spend because they get the money. TV has greatly contributed to the revenue stream. Everyone gets money except (until now) the player. Not just a little money, but huge sums. So I really can't argue against the players getting some too. Yes I think it's a bad idea; but if we pay coaches ridiculous amounts, then I can no longer justify players not being paid.
I think some of the NCAA rules has contributed to this. Why can't an athlete work? Why can't he ride in my car in a rainstorm? The NCAA went overboard making sure no one got an unwarranted favor. You can't legislate morality no matter how much you try, but you can clearly explain the rules and when a school violates them make the punishment so unpleasant no one else tries.
I don't know how much money an athlete needs more than a regular student. Some spend enormous amounts on tattoos, I guess it's what you're used to. I think this sends a signal to a high school athlete to improve your skills in athletics and not worry about the grades because you can get money going to college and playing ball. $2500 isn't even a good monthly salary but to a high school kid it buys a car.
Most everyone who donates gives their money to athletics. Scholarship is not regarded as highly for donations.

The bulk of the talent are freshmen. Varnardo, Miller, and Hopkins. There are contributors in Hollimon, JW3 , and Peace, but the program building blocks are freshmen, outside of Person...a sophomore. People wanted to get away from the DMs jucos and it has taken this long...If I were the new AD, I'd honor his contract and base his extension upon his team's performance during the same time-frame.
I do not believe the inconsistency is due to 100% coaching. I do know that has some to do with your opponent occasionally. ULM is 6-0 at home this season. Doesn't help much if your leading scorer is held to 8 pts either.
Always maintained that Coach needs 4 years. But I certainly didn't expect a bottom cellar season, if we finish last in the SB.....(not good). Hopefully they can make a run and get back to level. Things can be turned around in a couple of years. That's two recruiting seasons plus the old team. The old players are skilled players too. Five to eight players can make a huge difference in basketball and you should have them in your third year. Maybe we already have those players but if our record doesn't start improving we won't be getting many more.
