i attended a former football players function today and we were shown a presentation on the end zone complex. They will start in June and hopefully we will be in it for the start of the 2017 season. What I can tell you for sure, it is awesome and hands down will be the nicest in the Sun Belt. Some of the features will be a mud room where players will put their pads into a ventilation bin that will help keep the locker room odor free, a 5,000 sq foot weight room with 60 yd turf track and a turf ramp to the second floor for conditioning, a players lounge with nutrition station, a walk through Ice tub, great locker room and no carpet and extensive use of Cardinal, silver and black throughout. It is first class and will be a recruiting Jewell

That was a consensus feeling however Coach Brown wanted it on the HOF weekend (which IMO should be T-Day weekend also) and he had the HOF football inductee speak to the team and also gave the bios to the team in their team meetings. Coach Brown is really trying to get former players involved and teaching the players about the tradition of Troy. I got to sit with with Coach Moore and the offensive line at the team breakfast. They had the former players sit with their position. Very nice group of young men and I got to be introduced by Tyler Lassiter. Also privilidged to meet Junior Louisant and Bear Woods along with several guys from the 1-AA teams. I suggest all former players shoot coach Brown a email thanking him and also requesting it be on T-Day next year. A big thank you to Miss Judy and all the coaches for doing this. We are moving in the right direction

That stadium is a dump whether you are watching winning or losing football.

I also believe winning is the most positive experience the fans can have. Winning is directly impacted by recruiting and recruiting is directly impacted by player facilities and amenities. I agree that there are things about our stadium that can be improved but the most important one is improving the product on the field! IMHO

I reread the man's post three times and did not see where he stated that. sFun_DeadHorse Exactly. 4 more years of broken toilets...a high school concession area and the atmosphere of a morgue. And I agree, winning is important but even when we stomping it was tough getting people to the games...an dc the players parents and recruits have to sit in that dump. There is ZERO 'Wow' factor. A mud room for the players sounds great, but how about figuring out how to make the restrooms NOT stink and inspiring fans or educating them about our past greatness? I guarantee over 75% of the students don't know DeMarcus Ware played at Troy and he is the most obvious one.

If you go into the recently remodeled Davis Field House, recruits see a lot of our NFL players. I can only tell you what the complex will be and it will be the nicest in our conference. I can't answer if any upgrades to the stadium take place or not. There will be a new jumbo tron on top of the complex also I forgot to mention.

What you're saying is, " If we want more upgrades, improvements and resulting fan experience benefits; Time to PONY UP Fellas and make it happen!!" You can call the development folks at Tine Davis and actually designate your contribution to specific projects that benefit Troy Athletics! H#ll, $1,500 would go along way to fixing the toilets!! Maybe if so many of our "Fans" weren't so full of it, the johns would not be so taxed??? smiley-laughing001

I mean, Ho has a point....the concession stands take forever and the toilets are awful, I mean, honestly, what's a few hundred bucks every month during the off season to fix some small stuff

(of course, we have seen these presentations before and been told we would be moving dirt soon before, what a half dozen times) *But Ho is right, the fan, student, family experience at the stadium and on game day from the university is weak. Don't get me started on the bathrooms. It boggles the mind that we wouldn't have the money to fix and at least make the bathrooms decent. I do not like standing in pee, but you have no choice if you have to relieve yourself. *Our Alumni Apparatus/Dept. has done a poor job promoting this expansion. I would say over 90% to 95% of the alumni have no idea this expansion even exists in any size, shape or form. No to little promotion, no letters, no emails, no you tube videos, no social media, no campaign centered around coach promoting, etc. etc. Boggles the mind why we wouldn't promote this as all hands on deck effort ? And don't give just because that the people that stay in touch almost daily (many in this board) with the program know that all alumni should know. You have to sell it. Heck alumni I know in Troy, Dothan and Montgomery have no idea. Promotion. Gets involvement. Gets donations. Our next campaign is New Bathrooms. And jeez, how hard is it to get some banners printed and hung of our NFL greats ?

We were told that construction will start in June with a 12-16 month projected completion so best case we are in it for the 2017 season but that is optimistic. They took us on the field and showed us the location of it. It will go to the edge of the upper practice field so the road behind the stadium/Davis Field House will be gone. It will also match the Arena apperance wise. There will be club seating but it will only increase attendance capacity by 2,500. When asked about that we were told the administration did not want more empty seats. It will be first class but I do agree some stadium improvements are needed. If recruits want the wow factor, this facility will deliver.

No doubt this is sorely needed and whatever it is will be sooo much better than we have now. 2017 is not going to happen. If you know anything of construction that deadline is not plausible. Interestingly they mentioned not wanted to see additional empty seats. Says a lot and provides insight to want we have been hearing.

Will be in it by July 2017... I'm hopeful for that. What got me and several other former players nervous at the presentation was the scope that the state will be involved in this. Anytime government gets involved it drags out. One of the reasons they aren't breaking ground as soon as T-Day ends is that the final plans have to be approved by some kind of state board? If they can get started early June I'm hopeful. Let's hope for good weather also.

Clemson is building this for $55M. Personally, I don't think it's worth that much: www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football-news/4660382-new-clemson-football-facility-miniature-golf-sand-volleyball-dabo-swinney-acc-recruiting"That includes a players lounge that will feature a barber shop, arcade, bowling alley, laser tag, billiards, ping pong and basketball." Do players really need all this stuff? Need? Probably not, but it makes recruiting easier. Need a hair cut? Go on campus instead of paying 50 bucks. Wanna go out and have fun? Play laser tag instead of spending 20 bucks going out.
