Louisiana is beatable, but they are a great team. App State, however, is a phenomenal team. Barker and Co. are going to have to have the best games of their careers to beat either of these teams.

Great win. We were favored by 7 and lead 42-10 early in the 3rd. Not impressed with our second half effort on defense a few times, but the final play by Marshall was nice. The last two weeks tells me we have a chance next week. Win that one, and the App State game is huge.

Looking good so far. Smiley missing that sack early had me heated though.

Don’t forget to turn down the volume on ESPN 3 and turn on the Trojans audio link to hear Barry McKnight and crew with the call. Is it sync'd up properly when you do that?

DK has 777 yards so far and well on his way to being a 1,000 yard rusher. He's doing a great job. The running back room next season is beyond stacked next season with DK, BJ, Frye, Strong, Wolfolk, Woods, and Vidal (if signed).

They don't play us for the same reason we play Alabama State and not Jacksonville State.

Lashlee recruited him to Auburn. Speaking of Lashlee, SMU is playing for a NY6 bowl but nobody wanted him as HC here. Now Gatewood will probably transfer to SMU. Lashlee&Gatewood at Troy doesnt seem to be such a bad idea anymore but not realistic at this point... Sonny Dykes is the head coach at SMU. No way to know how good of a HC he would have been.

No safeties in this year's upcoming class on 247 so far. 16 out of 25 (or so) spots already committed. One cornerback is the lone defensive back. Really need to shore up the last 10 or so spots with defensive backs. To be fair, I think the top recruit, an ATH, primarily plays safety. Need a couple JUCO guys to step in, but I'd imagine it may be a hard sell for the best of them. 247sports.com/college/troy/Season/2020-Football/Commits/Recruit 10 defensive backs ? You took too many of your Zoloft’s I meant some of them, even though that's clearly not how I said it. We need DBs, period.

Whereâs all the videos of practice we use to see? How come we donât hear from the assistant coaches? Heck does anyone even know what some of them sound like? Whereâs the competition between teammates? Whereâs the juice?!? As one of my good friends said (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) was handed a G5 power Ferrari and is quickly turning it into a Ford Escort! He was landed a great gig and heâs squashed it so quickly. Ummm....no. I love my Trojans but the G5 Ferrariâs are Boise State and UCF. Get real. And whatever car we are in G5, it wasnât fully loaded and gassed up when Neal Brown bolted. (The HC we don’t speak of) Lindsay was not even on my list as next head coach, has a lot of work to do, and I truly hope he turns it around because I want the Trojans to win. But I am going to be fair as possible to the guy. I agree when it comes to the secondary that we have very little in the way of numbers and experience. It's a fair point, but it doesn't explain the lack of pass rush. We are loaded talent-wise on the line, even without Barker and Folsom.

Super thin in the secondary. He was never listed on the depth chart or participated in any game that I can tell. There is very likely an underlying story here. No safeties in this year's upcoming class on 247 so far. 16 out of 25 (or so) spots already committed. One cornerback is the lone defensive back. First to enter the portal this season is Koby Perry, a highly touted safety from last year's class.

Those are all the political correct answers instead of the hard nosed truths that we all need to hear. Kind of like the fight I have on a daily basis with the girlfriend. Just rip off the band aid and let the sound heal up quicker. I don't think it's politically correct at all. I think it's 100% revealing. Since day one, the "we'll see what happens", "we're gonna try real hard", and the "I thought we were solid" after a loss, shows a real lack of depth. And by depth I mean that he's only looking at things from a surface level point of view as if things will just take care of themselves. There's no thought of building a program, and at this point that's what the main concern should be. Every snap should be an investment for the future. We're either getting better or we're not. The whole "our destiny is not our own" and "we'll just fight for each other on the field" is nonsense. The defense is the worst I've ever seen it, and I'm not sure Brandon Hall even exists. Dude is a ghost, we never even hear from him.

I've been thinking it for a long time now and I was not going to say anything but you've lanced the boil so. The stylistic direction of the Fanfare is, IMO, so poor that honestly I don't really like hearing it anymore. It breaks......my......freakin' heart to say it because that has been the gold standard for me but I just can't get on with it. And I know the kids spend so much time, energy and effort on what they do. I don't want to tear that down. But it just doesn't sound good anymore, due not to playing but to it's direction. The big breaks before the triplets = double yuck. The triplets played so fast = triple more yuck. Both are like nails on a chalkboard to me. I'd bet all they ever hear is how great it all is but someone really needs to step up and say "if it isn't broke, don't fix it". As for the selections. I either don't know the songs but more frequently, don't like the songs. The Turtles? That's the most inspiring pick of songs to arrange. Ehh... They don't care at all about my thoughts, so it doesn't matter what I think. I just hate when my buds talk about their school's band being so great (who just happen to be at WVU coincidentally), I can't really point to the modern day SOTS without thinking "I can't put that forth". It' ain't horrible but it isn't inspiring from arranging to even marching. Lounder? Yes. That's about the only mark I'd feel like I could check. I'm hearing that you are now officially Excommunicado from Pike County with a $14M bounty on your head.

Furman hung 42 on them..... Their defense has gotten better every game since then. We will need to play our best game to win.

DT has a feeling that the 2nd half of the South game was a step in the right direction and we dont go back in time by dropping one to GaSt. I'm not counting on anything until I see it. Here's how our three wins, who have a combined 0 FBS wins, rank offensively in the 900 or so college football teams: There are 130 FBS teams and 126 FCS teams, for a total of 256 teams between the two. 403 Akron 339 Campbell 241 South Alabama --- --- --- 225 Texas State 124 Coastal Carolina 120 Georgia Southern --- --- --- 91 Southern Miss 65 Arkansas State 49 Louisiana 48 Georgia State 40 Missouri 20 Appalachian State www.masseyratings.com/team.php?t=8068&s=308075All three of our wins where we held them to respectable numbers came against offenses that rank with Division II teams statically. There are 10 Division III teams with better offenses than Akron: Wheaton, Mount Union, Hardin-Baylor, North Central Illinois, St. John's, Middlebury, Muhlenberg, Williams College, Whitewater, and Trinity College. I've only heard of Mount Union. I feel for our players. I know they and the staff are trying hard, but these numbers are not encouraging. South Alabama is a bottom tier FCS offense. They are not a measuring stick. We have 16 players committed for the upcoming recruiting season, and 12 of them are offensive players. Of the four that are defensive players, they are ranked at the bottom of our upcoming class. We need immediate help, and if we can't get that, we at least need quality and quantity for the future. We don't have that at the moment, but I suppose things could change between now and February. I love Troy and I'll always go to games and watch the stream when I can't, but I feel like this weekend is put up or shut. If we don't win this game it could have domino effects that will make a bad situation worse. The transfer portal reopens for business soon, and you'd be a fool to think some guys won't leave. This needs to be the moment, but if we lose I'll still be hopeful, just maybe less so.

Troy opens as a 1 point favorite. A little surprised by that based on how Georgia State has played this season. We can win this game, we just can't start the game down by 14 points like we did against USM and ARKST.

Defense played better tonight that they have all year long. Goal Line D was awesome, but we still had some big plays for no reason throughout the game. We did good to shut them down the majority of the time though. Now the question is, is South that bad or did we improve? I'm hoping for the latter Both. We held them below their average in a multitude of categories, which tells me the defense did a good job. I saw a lot of things in this game that I haven't seen all year. Three turnovers and guys were really flying to the ball. I think they're improving. That said, Georgia State is the best offense we'll have seen so far, outside of Missouri. They also have the worst defense, we'll have seen to this point, comparable to Akron in that regard. It's a 50/50 game we really need, because I think we can take Coastal and Georgia Southern to get to bowl eligibility.

South's only touchdown of the game came after a turnover gave them rockstar parking in our red zone. That's good news, but we have to be ready for those types of situations.
EDIT: It may have been after Sailo roughed the kicker and gave them another first down. Someone help me out here.
