I have had therapy about that game. My whole family was there and my Dad and brother were pacing behind our seats (pre-stadium tower). When they lined up to throw the ball my Dad headed for the car - he knew it was a bone-head call.

UAB is a home game for us this year - will playing someone like Tulane put us down to a possible 4 home games?

I was there when he got here and he seemed very excited to be back said that this was the only place he would leave Kentucky for and he wanted this job. he also said that he would be keeping Kenny Edenfield, Sean Reagan and Shane Wasden but the roles were still to be determined. He also said they would get to work on everything else very quickly.

I hear Jeremy Rowell is going to come back and throw an interception in the end zone to recreate his greatest QB moment. C'mon now....He had some great qb moments for us. [br Please don't joke about this. I have been in therapy over that game since 1995.

The person we hire will announce to the world the intentions of our administration of what they want Troy Football to be. What about hiring someone who HAS had some of the bells and whistles and will help us get those. To me this is the make it or break it decision for John Hartwell.

I have heard something about the HC from Spanish Fort HS and Chizik. Troy job is still something many coaches will want.

I incorrectly identified the team - It was Texas Southern. I stand by the rest of my post.

Show me the photo when they get off the plane or when they do their version of Trojan Walk at home. Just saw Texas State in Montgomery and every one of them had on the same athletic suit. I believe it is a matter of pride in yourself and in your school as well as disciplined behavior. I think our team could use a little more of all of those.

Maybe seven years ago we were winning enough to not have to worry about what to do after a loss. If a student athlete wants to sing the fight song after any game they should be allowed to. If a band member wants to stay after post game and shake players hands they should be allowed to. I personally believe that either group should be encouraged to support other campus organizations when they have a chance. Maybe the time it takes to sing the fight song or alma mater would provide a cooling off period and we wouldn't have fights in the locker room post game. I do not think we need to do something different for a loss. A loss will speak for itself. FYI - the fight song is played at the end of baseball and basketball games - win or lose.

Maybe it means that it is four years overdue. Six members of my family marched in the Sound. Four generations of my family attended this University. My family follows both the team and the band as well as other sports. I believe thar #31 did what he thought was right.
I am behind these young men and #31 has a special place in my Trojan heart.

By the authors own a admission it was the first time it happened in her four years? Maybe that means it was the wrong thing to do? I think I'll have a beer.

The Sixteen Consistent Characteristics of Greatness was written by Don Yaeger. He wrote biographies of Michael Oher and Walter Payton and a book called "Turning of the Tide - How One Game Changed the South" about integrating college football in Alabama.

This is something from a writer - I'll find his name - that I have shared with a few of the players in the past. I used to know more of them on a first name basis than I do now.
Sixteen Consistent Charateristics of Greatness
HOW THEY THINK
1. It's personal - they hate to lose more than they want to win. 2. Rubbing Elbows - the understand the value of association. 3. Believe - They have faith in a higher power. 4. Contagious Enthusiasm - They are positive thinkers...they are enthusiastic... and that rubs off.
HOW THEY PREPARE
5. Hope for the best, but they prepare for all possibilities before they step on the field. 6. What Off Season - they are always working towards the next game - the goal is what's ahead and there is always something ahead. 7. Visualize Victory - They see victory before the game begins. 8. Inner Fire - They use adversity as fuel.
HOW THEY WORK
9. Ice in their veins - they are risk takers and don't fear making a mistake. 10. When all else fails - they know how and when to adjust a game plan. 11. Ultimate teammate - they will assume wahtever role is neccsary for the team to win. 12. Not just about the Benjamins - they don't just play for the money or the future money.
HOW THEY LIVE
13. Do unto others - they know character is defined by how they treat those who cannot help them. 14. When no one is watching - they are comfortable in the mirror - they live their life with integrity. 15. When everyone is watching - the embrace the idea of being a role model. 16. Records are made to be broken - they know their legacy isn't only what they did on the field. They are well-rounded.

In regards to the player's appearances - I work in a hotel that houses many of the SEC teams during the season along with teams from other (and smaller) conferences, and to a man they all get off that bus wearing the same outfit. And this is simply for their walk from a bus to a hotel lobby - not a pre-game tradition involving fans. Many have long hair and dreads but as long as they are clean I don't see a proplem with long hair. I find it hard to believe that Troy recruits the only players in the country who want to express their "individuality" or have discipline problems. This is ALL on the coaches. How can you expect to have student leaders when you do not have coaching leaders. I know for a fact that one of the coaches did not even stay with the team Friday night. This may be common practice at Troy but I am going off what I see from other teams. Also, maybe the coaches need to imbibe less the night before a game. Not a good example.

I want the kind of recruiter who can get guys to come and play for a team that was 2-10 last year, that plays their home games in a rust bucket stadium with a jumbo screen that is so old that it's green. I want the kind of coach who comes to that school knowing that UA's BOT may never give them their own stadium. You go out and tell these guys that they may never use those new facilities but their shoulders will provide a place for the next team to stand. I am tired of people whining about facilities. It's not the only thing. From LB to Shaughenessy they have become complacent. HOW did they not know how bad this would be?
