I've seen a couple of tweets from different organizations and some in my group have also heard this. Anyone else?

I almost went to Georgia Southern. Took my visit there and everything but something about Erk Russell scared me. At the game I attended he met the recruits with that bald head and cigar in his mouth and I had heard the stories of him head butting players at Georgia. I had played for the toughest high school coach who ever coached and I wasn't sure I wanted another 4 years of it. Turns out he was tough but the players loved him and they won a ton of Nat Championships there. All the respect for that program When I lived in Baxley, GA, the local Savannah TV station would replay old Georgia Southern games with Erk Russell commenting. One game was when they barely beat Troy. The only way I can identify which game it was, was their bus broke down on the way.
Russell just kept commenting on Troy. I bet he said a dozen times. "Boy were they tough".

There were some other buses that went - alumni groups and such.

I was offered a job at UAB twice. Good money - just couldn't do it. I couldn't be a South fan even for one game. I hope we beat the TROY out of them!

Six of us headed up on Thursday - do some sight seeing before the game. Alumni will have a tailgate at a Buffalo Wild Wings, I think, that is about 1/2 mile from the stadium.

It started when Coach Brown came to town. The creation of a successful brand takes time and you cannot change slogans, logos every year. Baseball is #theTROYway, Football is #wefight and #rtw, Basketball is #TroyTough. We are all #OneTROY. I don't think it was ever meant to be a war cry. It's on the Trojan Warrior yard signs, shirts, Facebook photo frames. Like it or not,it's recognizable now.
Speaking of a wat cry - can we all just yell Go Troy Go on kick-offs? My sisters and I have started it - maybe others will eventually join in.

South Alabama has a new slogan for their fund raising campaign - "One team. One Cause. One South Circle." Sounds a lot like "One Family. One Spirit One TROY" that was started more than two years ago. They got Troy guys, why not our marketing as well?

The article about inflcr was very interesting. I'd like to see the statistics of the flow through social media this weekend and if that kid wears his TROY gear!

TROY University receives approximately 20% of their total overall budget from state funds. And yes, TROY wanted to get away from the perception of being funded by the state rather than merely supported.

Lockheed Martin is the largest room night generator in Troy - primarily Sunday - Thursday. With the new distillery, Kimber Firearms and the timber company Troy is primed for another and more upscale Hotel. If we had another hotel Troy could also host more Sunbelt tournaments and possibly get back some of the AHSAA tournaments that have been lost - basketball is the largest one. This would be dependent on Troy allowing (renting) Trojan Arena. Additionally, there are small conferences that could be recruited to Troy as long as the new hotel had some measureable meeting space. Meeting space at Troy is now limited to the ballrooms at Trojan Center and comes with the requirement to use Sodexo which can be pricey. During the summer, travel ball tournaments, Dixie Youth and family reunions keep hotels busy. There is more demand in Troy than you think and if the hotels are being less than customer friendly, that business and tax dollars are going elsewhere. Does Courtyard and Hampton have meeting space? I live in Ocala, FL (340,000 in county) and I-75. We have Lockheed here also, plus a huge horse industry, A new Fed-Ex distribution center along with Auto Zone, Chewys and a host of other companies. We also have a sports complex that has recently hosted two Cal Ripken World Series and travel tournaments in baseball and softball all summer. Pretty much have the Hilton and Holiday Inn And Suites for meeting space here. You wonder what these hotels are thinking. I sit on the board of a youth shelter and we do a huge annual fundraiser and other than the Hilton, there is no where else that can accomodate it. A Troy hotel would be nice but how do they justify it? For profit? For student majors? Are there any other colleges that are doing it? Yes, both the Courtyard and Hampton Inn have about 900+ sq. ft. of meeting space each. Not enough for even a small conference. I think Troy (city of) should recruit a hotel chain (Hilton Garden Inn maybe) and not TROY (university) at this time. Mainly because a university owned hotel would need to be closer to campus and be off 231 where you would pick up transient business. The Hampton Inn in Troy was originally funded by the University and was later sold to a hotel ownership company. One of those type companies could partner with the University to provide internships and work opportunities for those students in the hospitality program. At the time Trojan arena was built I thought they should have built a conference center and hotel adjacent to that. Obviously they did not listen to me!

The one I was listening to is Coast to Coast - but I have most of the others. We need a new one but I think the next one is for symphony band.

Let's recruit the Senior Bowl to Troy. And while that may be a long shot I know that our only impediment to that is lack of hotels in Troy.

At the Alumni Leadership conference this past Saturday we heard from Steve Stroud that Stadium Club is sold out, NEZ has 100 seats left and that they expect a hard sell out. Also said that Boise only have about 400 tickets from us.

I work in the hotel industry and have never seen a policy like this. Because you book in the year for the year your reservations are already within the cannot cancel window. I imagine they had a lot of late cancellations last year and lost revenue. off subject, but where did you get your T-Roy cut out in your profile pic? Flat T-Roy was made for me by a friend's Mom. Flat T-Roy attends most tailgates, has been to the Pumpkin Patch, played in the Snow, ridden a float at Homecoming and even been to some away games! I'd be happy to let someone copy the outline.

The schedule really did mess up the momentum generated Friday night. We basically played one game in a little less than 48 hours and 3 games in just over 24 hours.

Read the press release carefully - no date was listed with the Boise game as it was with the other games. Still hoping the Saturday date holds up.
