It's absolutely hilarious how often Propst's name STILL gets brought in damn near any decently high profile job opening comes up in this state lol I'm just so shocked that no high profile schools are beating down a 60-year olds door to come be an OC somewhere... Says the bammer beat writer from the weekly fish wrap... Priceless considering I cover Troy...

Very selfish reason but I'm really hoping they get the Camellia Bowl bid. I have to cover the game and I would much rather go to Montgomery and then be able to come home and sleep in my own bed lol

HC - Schlarman OC - Propst DC - Sumrall W's for days. Ummmm, no on Propst. He's a solid high school coach and let's leave it at that. Well there’s a song about cheap bourbon whiskey and pearl snap shirts. Onto the important topic here. Hugh Freeze is a real possibility in my opinion. Will likely be a very short term. I'm going to refrain from the obvious jokes here.

Yeah well look how we all turned on each other after the Boise loss. When you are winning, everything is great. So I say we just win from now on. If I remember correctly, you were one of the main offenders on that. Didn't you even say Troy would lose to FAMU? lol This was a huge win for Troy and should be a MASSIVE confidence boost. Could do wonders for the rest of the season. One thing that I'm going to be watching is the center situation. I don't think 9 times out of 10 you would ever wonder if a 2-3 time All Conference center might be in jeopardy of losing his spot but I'm starting to wonder. The coaches have been bragging about Dylan Bradshaw since the spring and he seems to be getting more and more playing time each week, including some crunch time action this week... on the road... against Nebraska. The high snaps have been a big issue with Crum. Might even be worth moving Crum to another spot on the line to keep a dominant blocker like that in the game, while a more consistent snapper can come in at center with little to no drop off.

Agree. As did Larry. We have been blessed This has been an interesting year. My group after the game got into a discussion of whether or not our issues are coaching or talent problems. - Did Larry leave even more of a dumpster fire than we thought ? - How can the defensive staff take the same players from years past and improve them 3 or 4 fold? - How can our offense be in the basement or at the bottom of the entire country with the same players as last year ? - where is the Neal Brown inventive and fresh offense. Does he still have the same stale assistants advising him ? - Can CNB handle being the Head Coach and the OC/play caller? Most said that we are more talented than Idaho, we were at home, so why did the wheels fall off against Idaho? Can a program that is this low, can it ever recover its former glory or will it be 10 years or is this the new normal? Can we survive 3 more losing seasons to see if this staff is the one ? Will VC stay around ? Is NB just a coordinator ? I hate losing.... Classic 2015 post Doug came with the receipts lol

We didn’t converse for too long but I would describe your personality and looks as one in the same: like one of those hairless cats. I might add, a well-fed hairless cat. Y'all think any of that was necessary?

I wouldn't really consider 13-20 for 193 yards and 23-34 for 384 yards to be QB by committee. All I looked at was scoring plays. Saw several QBs with passing TDs. Good to know he's getting good playing time. Maybe he can get Perkins to go to class and bring him to Troy. We could use a big back. Free has four TDs and they only have one other QB to throw a TD (he has one) in two games. The other QBs score came when they were up by 40 points, so I'm assuming mop up duty. Maybe you were looking at both teams scores. One thing about Free is the academics aspect likely won't be an issue considering he's coming from Vandy. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does when he gets there. He'll have three years of eligibility left, so he doesn't have to start right away but I have a feeling he will put pressure on the other QBs.

I think one thing need to continue to remember about Barker is he has a grand total of two starts now. He's still VERY young and will continue to grow. My one concern with him is the deep ball, though. He has really struggled with it so far this season.

A win at Nebraska would be a wonderful thing. I'm concerned for this team right now. To me, The Sunbelt is a tough under-rated conference filled with really good football teams and so far I haven't seen anything special from us. ULM is our first conference opponent and they are 2-0 with a quality win against Southern Miss. Plus... we play them on the road. Our schedule doesn't get any easier. I could have sworn you predicted that FAMU would beat Troy...

I think Barker takes too long in the pocket and relies too much on the dump pass. I think we need a running back to attack the middle. I think the secondary needs major work. I don't blame the OL for this one... I think Barker just was not willing to pull the trigger and relied too much on the safety dump pass. Yeah we played better in the second half but that was probably against the backups. The Belt is stacked with good teams this year and I think we have a hard road ahead to finish 4-8. We may struggle to accomplish that. Boise didn't start subbing a lot of backups in until very, very late. Troy's receivers got whipped by Boise's DBs, he didn't "pull the trigger" because there wasn't very many places to pull it. I think some should also acknowledge this was Barker's first start... ever and the O-line did not handle Boise's d-line well at all. Barker didn't play well, either. It was a complete team loss IMO.

Not that anyone cares anymore but they replaced it with one that says "Welcome To The Vet" on it and the National Championships are listed on banners around the sideline. I tried to upload a picture before the game but it wouldn't let me.

This is his team. He recruited these guys. Last season still had Blakeney players. No Offense, No Defense and No Leadership; can we get one year of eligibility from Silvers, Chunn, Calloway and Lebbie Defense was 1000 times better in the second half. If it wasn't for turnovers they wouldn't have done anything in that second half. The offense has MAJOR issues.

I picked Troy in our picking contest this week. I'm going with 28-21 for the score.

Success on the Field does create headaches elsewhere. Welcome to the Big(ger) time Trojans!! You might try Ozark, Montgomery, Dothan and Enterprise lodges as well. Enterprise has a bit more to do anyway. For those flying in from Boise or other distant places... Fly into Atlanta and check out accommodations down I-85. Fares into ATL will be much more competitive than MGM or Dothan with several carriers offering Fare/car rental/ and Lodge packages. We've overnighted in Peachtree City several times. Plenty to eat, imbibe and do. No restrictive rates and just 30 minutes to Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport and 2.5 hours to Troy. ^^ This. I would suggest Enterprise, it will be a lot cheaper and about 45 minutes away. Also, I would suggest you guys check out Air BNB. With my job I have to travel to places like Phenix City, Auburn, Prattville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, etc. in football and basketball season and end up staying the night most times. I usually use Air BNB and sometimes get an entire house to rent for less than I would pay at a hotel.

I saw some pressure washers out there today (around noon when I was there for the press conference) but it looked like they were washing the bleachers.

2 QB system would only make sense if you had two guys with different styles/abilities (one mobile/one pocket passer, for example). Barker and Smith are very similar. I would expect a No. 1 to be named this week.

Here are some shots from Saturday's scrimmage (no video was allowed during the 11-on-11 portion). Tray Eaford (13) takes off on a jet sweep. Marcus Jones (8) drags down Jamarius Henderson after shedding a block. Will Sunderland (10) bats away a Kaleb Barker deep bomb. Jamarius Henderson (9) bulls his way in for a 3-yard touchdown run. Marcus Jones (8) vs. Damion Willis (15) Dylan Bradshaw (65) gets some work with the one's. Kaleb Barker (7) throws a short touchdown pass to Luke Whittemore during a goal-line situation. Pick your poison in the return game: Marcus Jones (8) or Traveon Samuel (1) Terence Dunlap (14) breaks up a pass intended for Whittemore. Demontrez Brown (88) beats Dunlap for a long touchdown catch.

Not sure about Sunderland, I read somewhere they might move him to LB. He said Saturday they've lined him up at every spot in the secondary as well as "spear." I saw him at safety, corner and spear during the scrimmage. He looked good. Very physical player that can cover and hit. He had a really pretty PBU on a deep bomb from Barker. Sounded like a kid that knows he screwed up and has his head on straight now. Koenning went out of his way to say he's a good kid and said that at Oklahoma they really never taught him about coverages or the ins and outs of a particular position (which was mind-blowing to me to hear about such a big school). He said Oklahoma would pretty much just point to a guy and say "go cover him." So, he's still learning still.

They both looked pretty good in the scrimmage. Barker, to me, just looks to be the better all around QB. He made a couple of runs that were pretty spectacular where he juked out multiple defenders. Smith is athletic but seems like he is a little bit more hesitant to scramble when the need arises. Either way, they have some incredible talent to get the ball to. Brown did say he fully intends to name a starter before the opener, though, and he doesn't see the benefit in trying to keep it secret. Boise has tape on both QBs and they are similar in style.

I haven't had a chance to say anything about it since I've been out of commission since Friday night (after shattering my ankle), but that was a MONSTEROUS win for Troy. Probably even bigger loss for LSU but man that was big and really puts the national spotlight on the Trojans. If they can continue this momentum for the remainder of the season and win out they could end up in a really big bowl game. Could end up being a truly special season. Hoping I can get to the point where I can cover the Battle of the Belt but its not looking likely. Hate to hear that. Take care of that ankle. Thanks man, trying. Most painful thing I'v ever gone through.
