In January I made reservations for several football dates at the local Best Western in Troy, AL. I'm a platinum rewards member and all reservations were made with the typical 24 hour cancelation policy. However, the hotel just changed its policy and charged me for all of my reservation dates and sent me this new policy letter. If you made a reservation at the Best Western in Troy for a football date in 2018, your card has been charged and you cannot cancel. I plan to be there, but the fact that they changed their policy after my reservations were made is pretty shady. Surf Report:No Surf. Air temp is 80, water is 84, wind is blowing out of the SE at 3-6 mph.

Now don’t get upset. That is just a tiny little change if your using carbon dating. At least they did not say there was a 15 day minimum stay.

Of all my travels to road games I’ve never encountered a policy like that.

I would put them at the top of the list of TROY University/TROY Athletics supporters (sarcasm intended).
I hope no TROY fan ever books there again.

I noticed last night that the Courtyard does this. I figured Platinum Rewards members could get around it but nope.
EDIT***
Never mind. Just booked via my PC and I can cancel up to 48 hours before the stay. It was the Iphone App that was giving me issues.

I work in the hotel industry and have never seen a policy like this. Because you book in the year for the year your reservations are already within the cannot cancel window. I imagine they had a lot of late cancellations last year and lost revenue.

That's garbage. Another reason why I stick with my brand loyalty and it's not BW

Ya, I'm in the hotel industry as well and I've never heard of a policy like this. That's pretty messed up.

I’m no lawyer and I’m just guessing here, but I bet the making, and acceptance of, those reservations constitutes a contract between Kid and BW with the terms of the contract being those in place at the time the contract was made. Since Kid plans to keep his reservations and use them, this won’t come into play, but I bet this issue could be pushed and that policy overridden for people who booked prior to the policy change. Now anyone who books from this point forward would be bound by that policy since cancellation terms are stated up front. The hotel can establish whatever policy regarding cancellations they wish as long as those terms are communicated to the buyer.

Success on the Field does create headaches elsewhere. Welcome to the Big(ger) time Trojans!!
You might try Ozark, Montgomery, Dothan and Enterprise lodges as well. Enterprise has a bit more to do anyway.
For those flying in from Boise or other distant places... Fly into Atlanta and check out accommodations down I-85. Fares into ATL will be much more competitive than MGM or Dothan with several carriers offering Fare/car rental/ and Lodge packages.
We've overnighted in Peachtree City several times. Plenty to eat, imbibe and do. No restrictive rates and just 30 minutes to Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport and 2.5 hours to Troy.

The GM of this property is way off base with this garbage.

Surf Report: We have a stormy morning out here on Pensacola Beach. Air temp is 81, water is 85, wind is blowing out of the SE at 5-10 mph with some larger gust. Surf is running shin to knee. Flat T-Roy attends most tailgates, has been to the Pumpkin Patch, played in the Snow, ridden a float at Homecoming and even been to some away games! I'd be happy to let someone copy the outline.

I am pretty sure the Marriott does this also. I would book my room the very day they announced homecoming and sometime later on I would get a letter asking me to fill out some information and making me pay in advance (many months) and it was not cancelable. I haven't done it in the last year or so, but I know it was the case a few years ago.

The latest, NOT the GREATEST. Just advised that Hampton Inn, Troy is bumping 24++ confirmed weekend reservations this week due to University commitments.
Have at it!

For anyone effected by this who may need options, there are plenty of rooms in Dothan (60 miles away for any BSU fans). As an example, i checked Courtyard by Marriot, multiple rooms and room types, $99/night plus tax, no minimum, available Friday and Saturday nights. There may still be options in Ozark as well.

I would suggest Enterprise, it will be a lot cheaper and about 45 minutes away. Also, I would suggest you guys check out Air BNB. With my job I have to travel to places like Phenix City, Auburn, Prattville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, etc. in football and basketball season and end up staying the night most times. I usually use Air BNB and sometimes get an entire house to rent for less than I would pay at a hotel.

Thanks to Cornhole we will be okay. I believe there is policy during natural disaster but the Hampton saying TROY university extended 32 rooms. Explanation is by law they have to accommodate those and can not ask them to leave. Odd there are 32 rooms being extended? I have looked forward to this for months. I know TROY U is a bigger stick but Inwould have booked the Marriott perhaps. Just really sucks for all of us. I have a call in to see what I will be compensated for this. They said they will reimburse

Can NOT begin to tell you my level of "Pissed-offedness" (its ok, Im a verbologist - this is a real word) I would have if this were to have happened to me. Now my Wife, OH DEAR LORD, the sailor in her would be out 10-fold!!!!! That is just total and complete BS. Better be comping them rooms is all I got to say!!!!

I really believe that the University should have blocked them off months to a year ago. Just don’t think 32 rooms are now occupied and are extended. Think much more likely scenario is oh we need 32 rooms. Bump them. I may be the only poster this has happened to at this time because I got my call at 4:30. Lady calling was gone by 5:15. Do not believe she talked to 24 more people. She stated there are 82 rooms and that 32 are being extended and that there are 25 rooms being bumped and the remaining are already there and staying thru weekend. I just don’t know if they are leveling with me. I seriously doubt it.

If you have a room at the Hampton and it’s reserved please let me know if you get to keep it or if you get bumped too. PM me or post openly here.

Buzz, I going out on a limb to say they just gave you a lame excuse. They heard about Norm and didn't know how to tell you he wasn't welcome when Gertrude's yap dog was being allowed to stay. It's a shame that aardvark's get such a bad rap, especially one with a such tremendous weather prognostication skills. Tell Norm I hate it for him.

He too thinksI received a lame excuse. I said to him “Norm do you think this is true as to they are only following the law?” He looked with those sad eyes went to the corner of little Aardvark suite and took a dump. Then he grunted out “they should do what I just did because they really are full of it.”
