If Troy wins 10 games. Brown most likely is out of here for a power 5 job. He wins 8 he stays and that is a routine year as long as he is coach at Troy. Negative Nancy comments expected. No I didn't say I didn't want us winning more than 8 ball games. Some people's views about me are worth 50 cents to get me a cup of coffee.

We could win out ... and it wouldn't be a given that he would get a Power 5 job ... at least not one that he would want. I think I read only 2 G5 head coaches got Power 5 jobs last year? .. one of course was Frost. Now, if he wasn't an old Nebraska hero ... maybe he doesn't get that job? And there are several really good, youngish G5 Coaches out there (Harsin, Anderson, App States coach, etc) ... and seems like the recent trend is to go with coordinators from very big power 5 teams. Limited number of spots ... lots of competition, etc. Anyway ... as has been said ... I hope coach Brown is the the conversation for every really big job out there ... cause that will mean we are winning and he's taking/taken us to the "next level"!! Go Trojans!

As long as Neal Brown is a Troy we average 8 wins a year which isn't awful. Not sure how long we keep him if he gets 10 wins including Nebraska.Brown was interested in the Western Kentucky job a few years ago.

No one here knows what his agenda is.I am speculating that is awaiting the Kentucky position to come open. He is paying his dues at Troy.Regardless of what others may think of the Kentucky job, it may be his dream. After all, the best job in the when you combine pay with security and expectations is Iowa though I doubt that many on this board would consider it desirable.

If dude wins 10 this year that includes a win at Nebraska, he will get some Power 5 offers and bigger profile Group of 5 offers. He wants to compete at the highest level in coaching. It all depends on who is offering and the money. Silly season for coaching is still three months away. Say if Kentucky, Vanderbilt or South Carolina come calling at the end of year, he gone.

( example: nobody could have predicted that Urban Meyer was close to be fired at OSU) (or he takes the Iowa job because their coach retires) Never know.

Only one that concerns me right now is Texas Tech. Could be a dark horse candidate for FSU. Taggart will be on the hot seat by the end of the season.

Ok... I'll play. I think CNB is great. That being said however... This year is the first year we can totally grade him as a coach because the CLB players graudated. Ok... so grading CNB while coaching a team that is not 100% his he would (in my opinion).. earned in 2015 = D. 2016 = A 2017 = A+. Take into account that those grades could of been helped or hurt by the players being inherited. Also consider that in 2016 and 2017, a good many of CNB picked players contributed. I think and it could just be my chimp brain... but I think that P5 schools are watching CNB and are looking to see how awesome he has made the Troy program, as it is now 100% his.
Let's list some of the absolute genius things CNB has done since coming to Troy: 1. Got Troy to come off some cash to pay assistant coaches better. You can see the results on the field. 2. He got the North Endzone completed. 3. He has created a culture within the football program that his men are not just football players but are also students and members of the community. I had never heard of football players helping students move in to their dorms before I saw Troy do it. 4. Every week CNB makes a point to inform the media of those players that have gone above and beyond. Ex. The Nathan Harris award.
I'm sure there are many more examples.... Bottom line is... CNB is awesome. We are happy to have him. If he goes... Next Man Up!

I just hope our coaching staff will stay around for another year, these coaches understand how to win games in critical situations (LSU, Nebraska, Southern Miss, App St, Arkansas St, Akron, etc...) and is one of the best and most experienced coaching staff in all of G5.
Next year, we got Mizzou, Southern Miss, and Akron and these games are all winnable! Next year could be our year!

Coach Brown has been good for Troy! I hope he stays. I agree with the earlier comment. Next man up! Coaching changes are apart of becoming a better football program.
