I like a high noon kick off but TV will determine that! I was thinking the same thing Redwaver, would be fun to open at high-noon (or even 11 AM) with temperatures rising during the game to help our friends from Idaho enjoy some of our late summer heat! Could play to our advantage. As you say, TV will dictate the kick-off time. Would love for GAMEDAY to visit Troy in our season opener, could show off the new-look stadium to the nation over the Labor Day weekend!
Go TROY!
Lots of California players on Boise's roster, I doubt the heat will be a deciding factor...

12-0

Earlier in the season I was distressed over the fact we had lost a close game to Boise (that we could have won), as well as the loss to SoBama. I was focusing on what could have been. Now that the season is over, I've had a chance to analyze things. I may be wrong, but it don't think I am, so here goes. If we had beat Boise and SoBama and had finished 12-0, what would that have meant for our post season? NOT ONE STINKIN' THING! There is one NY6 bowl slot available to G5 schools, and it goes to the highest ranked G5. This season, UCF finished the season 12-0 and won a conference championship game for a 13-0 record. For numerous reasons, not the least of which was the media fascination with Scott Frost, UCF would have finished the season ranked higher than us and, therefore, would have garnered the Peach Bowl bid, just as they did. We would have still been playing North TX in the NO Bowl. 12-0 would have been a boost to the program from a media perception standpoint (maybe) and would have been great for recruiting, but it would have made no difference in post season play this year. Until the playoff is expanded to 16 teams we will NEVER have a chance to play for all the marbles. If you don't believe that, look at UCF. They are undefeated and playing in the Peach Bowl, which isn't in the playoff rotation. Still, 12-0 or even 11-1 and we probably would have cracked the Top 25 though...

Send it to ESPN, they might mention it during the bowl game, maybe even use it during the intro!

Don't forget Omar. He was only here two years so his numbers aren't as gaudy as Somme. But he was a great dual threat. I saw some high-liters of the FSU game. I forgot how big Omar was, how fast, he was, and how when he decided to pull it down and run, he was a true threat. Maybe not the best ever at TROY, but certainly one of. So many great QBs since Omar: IMO Omar was the best overall out of the bunch, Levi was the best passer, Jamie probably my favorite, such a great character, too many injuries though. Corey produced great stats but he was here during our down years (bad timing I guess). Brandon will always be remembered as the QB who helped turning the program around. I think that Barker and Smith will be very good QBs for us. I like both but I really want to see what Sawyer Smith will do as he was highly recruited out of HS (decommitted from UCF and offered by Miss St, South Florida, Southern Miss, etc). The highest rated QB we ever signed out of HS, so expectations are high.

Ark State's offense and DL are both top level, definitely the best in the conference. I partly watched the Nebraska game and I was very impressed with Ark St in this game.
Troy only won the game because of superb Red Zone D, Marcus Jones' 2 TDs and we made some key plays (key plays we sometimes don't make). IMO Arkansas St is by far the best and most attractive program (after Troy of course lol) in the SBC. We should somehow form a new conference with Southern Miss, Marshall, Louisiana Tech, South Alabama, Middle Tennessee State, North Texas, etc.

Yeah, but also interesting that LSU's loss to us hasn't hurt them at all. They are ranked like 18th or something with three losses. LSU has too many quality wins, Auburn, Florida, TX A&M, etc... and we don't.

Yeah, that would be the FCS coach. If Neal Brown were to leave, he's probably not taking much of the staff with him. He will be able to hire bigger name coaches at whatever job he takes. So my thinking is, keep the staff intact. They're doing a great job coaching and recruiting. Campbell would be good, along with the two internal hires I mentioned. this is unrealistic and a recipe for disaster. All coaches going to new schools hire/bring their own people. (some very rare exceptions) People that are in tune on their philosophy. Besides the bubble screen Clown school of offensive coaches needs to go anyway. Also, according to what you stated it doesn’t say much about our assistant coaches if CNB wouldn’t take at least some of them along with him to the next job. Coach Vic would be going. And Moore. I really hope VK stays. We should offer him the HC position first.

Why not (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of)? He coached Corey Robinson while at Troy, was a quite successful OC at Southern Miss, and is now successful at Auburn. He actually calls the plays, and their system is similiar to ours.

We just received 12 votes in the Coaches poll (inofficially ranks us at #30). IMO even a convincing win next week won't get us ranked, shouldn't have lost the USA game.

We could also hire Les Miles for 1 year, pay him ($4M - $4.5M / CNB salary + buyout $) ... (he would leave us after one year anyway). Media attention and recruiting interest would be through the roof - just kidding.

SBC will never surpass the AAC (these schools have too many resources). The SBC can threaten CUSA at some point, but schools such as GA State located in big markets will eventually leave the SBC though. I think the SBC will always be where it is now.
Hopefully a new conference will form with Troy, Southern Miss and some other schools which would make more sense.
In the long run, Troy is too good for the SBC but right now we can use it to our advantage and dominate the conference.
What we need to do/achieve to make the next step:
- dominate the conference like Boise St dominates the MWC - be ranked over a period of time in back to back seaons (and be ranked in the Top 20, Top 15) - a breakout year (12-0) like Boise St, Utah, Fresno State, Marshall, Hawaii, W Michigan, UCF, Houston had in the past - a star player who is somehow in the Heisman discussion (think Wolfe/N Illinois, Moss/Marshall, Smith/Utah etc), just for media attention, and recruiting purposes. This will also draw big crowds and grow the fanbase, people want to see media stars - a star offensive player in the NFL (think Favre/S Miss, Moss/Marshall, Young/BYU) - a 4 star (or 5 star commit) out of HS (QB, RB, WR) - Parade All-American recruit or sth - if CNB leaves, a name coach who draws media attention (Kiffin/FAU) - keep investing in facilities, IPF should be next

www.si.com/college-football/2017/11/22/coaching-carousel-candidates-(The HC we don’t speak of)-kelly-scott-frost 29. Neal Brown, Troy head coach: His stock rocketed up after the Trojans knocked off LSU in Baton Rouge this year. In truth, the 37-year-old former Kentucky offensive coordinator already was on Ole Missâs radar. His teams are 18â5 the past two seasons. We could see him at either of the Mississippi schools next year. _ _ _ _ So who could replace him? Maybe (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of)?

I think he could be even more effective than Silvers next year. He is more mobile and this is exactly what we need, a mobile QB...

I am still not over it... lots of what ifs (Gary Banks not going for the first down) or what if Washington had beaten Hawaii just hours later (they were up three scores early). We probably would have gone to the Boise Bowl and played GA Tech IIRC... but Hawaii got their win and went to a BCS bowl...and we were out.

What at does this have to do with anything? When the season began, we had a destination (goal) in mind. We wanted to: 1) Have a winning season 2) Become bowl Eligible 3) Win the conference 4) Win said bowl game. 5) Beat a ranked SEC team

It will be either Barker or Sawyer Smith. Smith was UCFs top HS recruit before we stole him from them.
