Neal Brown, Troy head coach: His stock rocketed up after the Trojans knocked off LSU in Baton Rouge this year. In truth, the 37-year-old former Kentucky offensive coordinator already was on Ole Missâs radar. His teams are 18â5 the past two seasons. We could see him at either of the Mississippi schools next year. _ _ _ _ So who could replace him? Maybe (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of)?

I don't think we need to concern ourselves with this right now. We have a big game at Arkansas State for a potential conference title. Let's focus on that.

Coach Brown is a good coach. He will inevitably get an offer from a rich school at some point. It could be this year or whenever, but I think it is coming.

If it happens it's better if it happened this year. One call to Conway, AR and we continue what NB started

We could also hire Les Miles for 1 year, pay him ($4M - $4.5M / CNB salary + buyout $) ... (he would leave us after one year anyway). Media attention and recruiting interest would be through the roof - just kidding.

Lots of really good coaches out there. I like Campbell. I like Propst. I like a lot of Coaches. But what I like best is Jeremy McClain. He will make sure we get a good one with a very calm, cool approach. And whoever we hire - I will support.

Brown, Rigby and Cunningham are all doing excellent jobs. We are the only school in the country that won a bowl game and had men's and women's BB in the NCAA tournament.

And not one of them were hired by Jeremy. Only coach he has hired is volleyball coach (not so good right now). My concern with ANY hire at Troy, is the ever present thumb of dear leader. With John Hartwell, it wasn't an issue, he stood up and said, you want to win, we do this my way, and he was absolutely despised by others (staff and dept heads within Troy), but he KNEW what was needed and how to go about that task. With Jeremy, I'm not sure where that "thumb" will be when/if the time comes to candidate selection, interviews and hiring. As with Neal, our very first D-1 coaching hire, our next will be our FIRST "million dollar baby" at Troy. Here's hoping we don't have to make that decision for another 2-3 (20) years!

My guess is the dynamic duo at the top of Troy University had an influence on John Hartwell looking for other opportunities.

Heard Dr. Hawkins' main priority is the Confucius Institute and Online programs over athletics. Athletics helps get the other stuff funded though.

He hired the soccer coach also I stand corrected, and they were 8-10-2. That was a strange hire. Good idea as there are good d2 soccer programs here but Saint Leo is about the 6th or 7th best one and he's not even an American.

I will state we need an American to coach American football. For the international version, I want a foreigner.

His accent is a little hard to understand in some interviews I've watched

Dear Leader got a wake up call about 6 years ago. Troy Athletics was sucking wind and last in the Bubas (sp?) ratings in the conference. Dear Leader was also president of the conference at the time. A few personnel changes and several $$$$ later, I think he got it right. You got a lot to catch up on in Troy Athletics sir.

His accent is a little hard to understand in some interviews I've watched Some would say that kids, or their parents, who would choose to not attend TROY simply because the coach in their sport isn't "American" are not the type of kids, or parents, we want as part of our programs.

Coach Brown has been great for Troy and will likely continue to be through next season. Another good season and then he is gone. LSU got him attention but south Al dropped his stock quickly. I don’t think the big boys will take him this year but surely after another solid season. Great job Coach Brown.

There will also come the time, a small window of time, probably 5 or 6 years and have this type of success, he will go. I believe if Neal has the success Troy had when he was here as an Assistant, he will be scooped up quick. Larry would have as well but that baggage from the Barn always hurt him, IMO.
