The AU fanbase says Harsin quit before he was fired. They say he did no recruiting. I know AU is a messed up place and the boosters practically call plays on game day, but I worry that he will what the youngsters call ghost-quit if he doesn't get his way. Harsin has no business coaching in Alabama, or the Southeast for that matter. Exactly. Harsin doesn’t want his assistants to spend too much time recruiting. He thinks coaching is more important than recruiting, character is more important than talent. He also doesn’t believe in NIL. Most Auburn and Boise fans absolutely despise him. Advertiser: “Longtime Thompson coach Mark Freeman said that he has never met Harsin when asked after National Signing Day. He has heard similarly from other Birmingham coaches. Harsin hadn’t been to Thompson. It's a recurring theme: Seven of the 14 coaches who spoke with the Advertiser had not met Harsin. Whether or not that’s a serious concern varies depending on the coach. Some believe it’s unreasonable to expect Harsin to contact every in-state school so quickly. Others said the bare minimum is to have made that a top priority by now. A number of coaches were baffled that they haven't interacted with Auburn's head coach. One said Harsin's continued absence is "just insane to me."

Auburn has the resources But with the way things are trending TX, FL, TX A&M, GA, OK are probably the real players Bama does not have the money to keep up with these programs - GA is the tail end of the names mentioned above Bama mostly depends on Saban and his authority and connections... Texas and TAMU operate in a different universe with all their billionaires. UGA is fully focused on football and LSU is a corrupt program. Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee are backed by major donors but its not comparable to Texas/TAMU. UF has so much potential, not sure what the problem is….

4-stars generate $0.8m and 3-stars $0.1m per player/season… 3 Stars generate 100,000 on average which includes Bama, Ohio State, Texas. Dual that in tell me what each star generates in Troy Yes, it's just an average across FBS... I think NIL is more relevant to P5 teams with some exceptions. Some Olympic sports athletes (Auburn's Suni Lee) make more NIL$ than most football players (incl elite QBs)...

There is an academic study which shows that 5stars generate revenue of $2m per team/season on avg (total income incl tv revenue, bowl payouts, donations). They should be payed accordingly... maybe apply the NFL distribution system (but most schools would surely prefer the current NIL system): NFL currently shares 48.5 percent of all league revenue with its players. How many 5 stars Troy got? 4-stars generate $0.8m and 3-stars $0.1m per player/season…

How is it any different than a great singer profiting off their talent by making music at a young age or an actor doing the same thing? Is the singer or actor getting tuition paid, meals paid, travel paid, books paid, housing paid, private space with pool tables, etc. There is an academic study which shows that 5stars generate revenue of $2m per player/season on avg (total income incl tv revenue, bowl payouts, donations). Sumrall is not on Auburn's radar ... Kiffin, Sanders, Freeze, Rhule are the top candidates... WHAT! How on earth could you forget (The HC we don’t speak of)?? Oh hold on. I know the answer to that as I was typing. Pretty dang easily. Auburn is going after Kiffin (and Freeze). Should Kiffin leave OM, I would be more concerned that Sumrall could be a candidate to replace Kiffin at OM. However, I donât think he would be the top candidate this time.

Hartwell resigns: Utah State AD John Hartwell resigns www.sltrib.com/sports/utah-state-sports/2022/11/01/report-utah-state-ad-john/“After 25 years in the business, my wife and I have agreed that our family, including Heather’s aging parents in Arkansas, need to be our number one priority,” Hartwell said. “We need to be there for them and for our beautiful daughters. This is the time.” Hartwell showed interest in the Auburn AD job, but Auburn hired the Miss St AD instead (they actually offered $2.5m/year to current Arkansas AD Yurachek).

I always click over directly to YouTube because I want to like and comment. It auto-played S6,E1 and I couldn't get to it in time to cut off Dippidy Doo. MAN! It is so sobering to see a real coach contrasted against a pseudo-coach. Those years. What an utter loss of forward momentum. It. Still. Hurts.... Sumrall is much more experienced now. Those two extra SEC-years make a huge difference.

I was thinking the same thing; but, on a different level. Why not build a Powerhouse here at Troy. I look at what Coach Bobby Bowden done at Florida State. Prior to CBB arrival, Florida State was similar to what we have here at Troy. I attended Troy in 1984 through 1988, the school, atmosphere, and facilities are far better and with the right Coach, he can turn Troy into a Powerhouse. As for completing for a National Championship, that's on the table with the 12 team playoff. Furthermore, its a great recruiting tool for athletes, you can tell them, you can come to Troy, play for a Conference Championship and also get the opportunity to play for a National Championship and have less wear and tear on your body. If CJS stays, I truly believe Troy will be the next Powerhouse. The Sunbelt Conference is getting stronger and stronger and each of you can agree, "We expect to WIN every game again. " I think it was way easier back then, less competition and recruits didn’t have that many options… Boise accomplished a lot but where are they now? They didn’t really benefit from it. Of, course the school is bigger now, nice facilities but they are still stuck in Idaho. Troy might be in a more favorable region but there is also so much more competition… Nowadays, so many schools are moving up to FBS conferences, most recently Jax St and now Kennesaw St (CUSA). It’s getting crowded with so many FBS schools in the region: Troy, UAB, GA St, GSU, USA, Jax St, and KSU. It used to be Troy, UAB, and USM. Now, add NIL as another factor: Even schools like UGA, Bama, Auburn are struggling to keep up with Texas, TAMU, Miami, Oregon, USC, etc… maybe when the BIG10 and SEC will eventually break away from the NCAA, it could create some new opportunities for mid-majors.

Hartwell is a final candidate for the Auburn AD job.
Maybe they will hire Neal Brown as their new HC then (probably not)... but most WVU fans want him gone.

Is there any chance the SBC can benefit from all of the changes? Any chance the SBC picks up a "former" Power 5 team or two. Probably not but from the ACC who? Can't think of any but where will Wake Forest, Boston College, NC State land? While not Power 5, any chance UCF and South Florida jump in with SBC - much better travel for them. Lot of opportunities for a lot of teams. Always a chance SBC gets raided I suppose. Very glad where we are and now is the time to get out the pocket book and contribute - not to football but to the other sports. The sports that don't make money will be HURT big time. Stanford already got rid of a ton of Olympic sports and it will get worse for ALL schools for the non revenue sports, even the big boys. If any one has a crystal ball, I would liek to take a look in it. Actually, UCLA is moving to the B10 to save Olympic sports: UCLA basketball, football just saved Olympics sports by moving to the Big Tenfansided.com/2022/07/05/ucla-football-olympic-sports-big-ten/USC, UCLA and the Big Ten are being accused of killing the Pac-12. The truth of the matter is the the Bruins were on the verge of killing some of their own sports programs. The move to the Big Ten will save them instead.
