I think with some of out struggles (line play, inconsistent WRs, etc) ... it's clear he gives us our best chance to move the ball on offense. If the defense has to be concerned about a QB running, they have to keep someone in to "spy" him. That means there's more room in secondary, etc. Also, helps the line a great deal (defenders have to stay in their lanes). I believe he's earned the chance to start ... and it gives us best chance to win some games this season! Defense overall improvement has been the best story. Even though they scored 45 ... we stopped the run all day. Never like to lose, but I'm encouraged by the way they kept fighting! Ready for Idaho!! 14 of those 45 points was not on our defense Our Defense gave up 31 Exactly ... Defense continues to play well enough to win. Last couple of years ... even if the offense put up lots of points, we had hard time slowing the other guys down!

The 2014 class had only 2 hs players. I don't dislike Blakeney, I dislike he ran this program down and was allowed to stay and do it There are players from high school that redshirted before that...if you're going to tell the story, tell the story...don't pick and choose facts. Yeah, looked back at list: 6 HS kids in 2014 ... only two Juco kids signed in 2013. It's an inexact science/art ... recruiting! Some pan out ... some don't, HS and Juco! You go for need! I know one recent Juco kid I wish had been a couple years younger ... Deon Anthony! He could certainly help us right now!

Agreed ... I think we have a good base of young guys! Defensively: Lebbie, Colloway, and Statum have a chance to be really good the next few years! I think Lebbie, as he learns to use his hands and gets comfortable in the new position ... he has the tools to be that "next" great defensive end! Hey and Statum (and #7 and #44) will be tough for SBC tackles to handle!!

Well, I might want to swap my seats in 108. There's a guy, who makes personal attacks toward the players (the kids who want to win worse than we want them to win). I even heard him say he was going to "blow up" Silvers' facebook after the game. Really?? That's what gives "fans" a bad name. I get riled up sometimes too ... but we need to keep a little perspective. These guys are "kids" who I think are doing their best. I guess I'm fortunate that I'm usually driving after the game ... so I'm limited to a beer or two at tailgate. We all tend to act out when we've been drinking. It may sound corny, but I believe this is a time we need to really try to be Supporters.
As for the issues with students, I hope the school can rein in the bad actors ... but still keep the students involved in the game. From other side of the stadium, it was great to see the numbers.

More than just a few knuckleheads. In the early part of the first quarter, students cut through the barrier fence and took over the first 8 rows of section 107, which pushed all of the young kids off the first row. I was o.k. with it at first ( glad to see the student support), but then it quickly got ugly as the students started pushing my stuff out of my seats so they would have room stand on the bench behind me (aka my seats). I had to ask at least 8-10 students to move out of my seats. Most didn't argue, but a few did with language I won't repeat. Some season ticket holders showed up and couldn't even get to their seats, so they just left. Later one student was smoking an e-sig and I asked him to knock it off because it was blowing in my 6-year-old daughters face. His student friends confronted me and asked if I had a @*#$'n problem. Then two of them decided to fire up cigarettes and began intentionally blowing smoke in our direction. Shortly after that, two students with fresh beers just barged down the aisle and didn't even acknowledge my daughter was there pushing her forward where she almost fell down to the next row. I sad something to them, but I won't repeat their response. We then had small bourbon bottles (single shot size) being tossed in our direction from somewhere in front of us. This was all before the end of the second quarter. I'm not abandoning the university, but my seats will be empty and I will not renew them. I'm done! Surf Report:
The surf is flat once again. The wind is blowing out of the North at 8-10 mph with 17 mph gusts and the air temperature is 57 degrees. High tide was at 3:29 early this morning and low tide is at 3:21 this afternoon. I understand if you don't want to renew those seats, but don't abandon the program. Join me in Section 108 and I promise you won't have to deal with such. 95% of the patrons in this section sleep through the games.

I think we have a great game! Explosive plays on offense and create at least 2 turnovers on defense!

There's no such thing as bad publicity as long as they spell your name correctly. As a Public Relations pro for over 20 years......bingo!!! You are right about that, as long as you are not associated with anything illegal, all they will remember is TROY and that other school. Speaking of Publicity ... wife was watching "The Voice" last night ... a Troy grad was on! Very sharp and announced proudly that she attened Troy University!

When I was a kid (back when the helmets were leather and had no face masks) Troy State played a game each year in Dothan. If I remember correctly, the opponent was frequently Livingston (UWA) and the game was dubbed the Peanut Bowl. This was in the late '60's and some of you may be better historians than me. I guess this is a long winded way to say, I like the idea of naming the game the Peanut Bowl with the winner being awarded the Golden Peanut. We played that game in 85 ... Miss. College. Miserable ... about a thousand degrees and we played awful and lost big. I think it was in conjunction with the "Peanut Festival"? Got blindsided on punt coverage ... so don't remember much of it! But, we didn't play the game in 86 or 87, so 85 might've been the last time?

Ahh yes, Jackie! You always wanted to take Jackie in the Spring! If there was a game, you had two choices at class time: got to the game, or got to the "Gulch"!! Loved listening to that man! So many stories!! Many memories from class, but here's one: He brought in a picture of himself at about 19 from WWII. He said he'd lied about his age to get in ... I believe he said he was on Missouri for surrender (of course, the first time he came to class after seeing Mitsubishi truck ... cussing up a storm about the GD japs, etc). Anyway, asked us ... You want to know why Jackie is so good looking now ... Hell, look at him then!! He made us pass the picture around the room! Very interesting man!!

Excited to see the difference Coach Horton makes. That's who players spend most of their time with now ... limited time with position coaches compared to strength/fitness coaches. You could tell the last several years, we were not very fit compared to other teams we played. Maybe strong in the weight room ... but not great playing shape. My view from afar. That's where the most impact can ... and I hope .. will be seen this first year. Of course, Coach Brown's enthusiasm ... the rest of the staff contributing, and just being part of a fresh start!! I believe we'll be competitive every week! That makes it fun!!! Go Troy!!

I mean I understand why he is keeping him on for the fact of his son is still enrolled in school. I just didnt know what his position would be. Do you really think that is the reason why? I don't know either way, just seems awful charitable if that's entirely it. But here's to hoping we get what we pay for. This is an exciting new era and good to see the administration is serious about reclaiming and surpassing TROY of the last decade's Golden Years. Has nothing to do with son still in school. It's about experience, trust, and ability! KE is highly respected in the profession! Especially highly respected by Brown! He's proven over the last decade or so that he can coach ... receivers, quarterbacks ... and as an OC. They have and can work together! Looking forward to continued success with they're partnership!!

As successful as Brown has been in the Spread or Air Raid, whichever you choose to call it, he would also have a terrific understanding of how to shut it down (if you can) so I expect him to hire that right guy and then offer input so I can see our defense being a lot better in the future IF we recruit well! I don't think you can shut down a spread offense completely, with comparable athletes, on a regular basis. Once Neal had his offense clicking, if we have a middle of the pack defense we will be very difficult to beat. Three to five more possessions offensively means the same defensively. If we want to win SBC championship ... we have to stop spread option too! (GSC, APP St ... ULL killed us with simple read option). I do like that Neal mentioned he wanted an "aggressive" defense. Best way to stop the option ... stopping it in the backfield!

Just watched the presser ... Impressive young guy. I love that idea of playing/coaching with (The HC we don’t speak of) on shoulder! I believe there is enough talent to "compete"! Don't know how many games we'll win, but look forward to competing every week!! A big part of competing will be attitude/agressiveness, etc ... That (The HC we don’t speak of)!! Anytime ... Anyplace!!!!

I admit ... I was pulling for a few other candidates ... guys I know well and believe would've succeeded. (Campbell, Haley, Turk, Robinson). As I've thought about it ... it's exciting that we had several good options! That's speaks well for our school/program. Now, I'm on board with Coach Brown! I want him to be crazy successful!! Because, that will mean Troy is back in the business of WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! Let's be supportive and positive ... at least for a while! So, a Challenge: let's get on board and see just how good we can be!! If you're a former player: Become a Lifetime T-Club Member!! Encourage other former players to do the same!! Buy Season Tickets! After buying the Tickets ... give some more and move up the Trojan Warrior ladder!! Most of us can't give millions ... or even thousands! But, we can do what we can do! I know I'm preaching to the choir here ... but I am excited about the Future of Troy Football!!

A lot of programs (Auburn and South Carolina are the first that come to mind) are shifting more towards the play caller being on the field and the man in the box giving his analysis and opinion. But I feel the buck will stop with Neal. I think you're right ... he'll likely be "defacto" OC ... no matter who has the title. (just like I don't see Lashlee overruling something Gus wanted to do!) It's a team effort. As a HC ... lots of other responsibilities!!

I spoke to a guy at work, Troy Grad, HUGE ALABAMA FAN,(most know how I feel about that) who said: "They have some good players up there and they can transfer without sitting out". To which I said, Maybe the med school should decline all Alabama grads and tell UT to get their own med school, those at UAB that want to transfer can without penalty? That might work." Not sure we are still talking to each other..... GAWD I HATE UA FANS!!!! That's pretty dang funny!! Love it!!
