From a reliable source: Early in the first quarter the students tore down the barrier fence between sections 109 & 107 and basically invaded the first 7-8 rows of section 107 (this is where the Reserved Family 4-Pack seats are located). Many long-time season ticket holders and families were literally forced from their seats by the incoming barrage of students.
Security was informed early, but did absolutely nothing until late in the second quarter. By then most of the fans in that section that actually paid for their seats had left.
There is a lot more to this story, but I will refrain from posting those details here.

Obviously, we shouldn't have paying fans having their seats taken over (and how that could happen is a major administrative failure) but when our student section is overflowing that is a good problem to have.

Yesterday my friends and I tailgated in our usual space between Hawkins and Smith Hall under the oaks. I had a friend who is an alumni of South Alabama, and a friend who is an alumni of Alabama also there with us. Like most everyone else, we used Hawkins Hall for restrooms. Since the fraternities and sororities were tailgating on the Shack quad, they also used Hawkins Hall.
I was absolutely ashamed of our students on the Shack quad yesterday. There were young ladies walking around in skirts that were so short that you could literally see their underwear and butt cheeks. It was inappropriate. At one point my friends from other universities went to the restroom to find a drunk fraternity guy standing at the urinal with his pants and underwear around his ankles using the restroom. He could barely stand as he stood there. Finally, as we walked down university, so many Fraternity guys looked at my friend from South Alabama and were screaming "F*** South!" Completely unprovoked. Let's not forget that there were children everywhere.
While I understand that we need our students there supporting, and I want them there, I would rather they not be there than be there and act like they did yesterday. And I refuse to accept the excuse that "that's what students do." As an alumni of Troy, I want our students to win with class and lose with class. I will be moving my tailgates in the future far away from the Shack quad. Otherwise, I may find myself in jail one day.

I've had the same seats for 8 years in 107 and left in the middle of the second quarter. There was a lot going on after the students "invaded" and I won't expose my family to that type behavior or environment. One of my friends who is 6'4" left at halftime because he didn't feel safe with his two young boys. The seats I have in 107 will be empty the rest of the season and I have no intention to renew them. Surf Report:The surf is flat once again. The wind is blowing out of the North at 8-10 mph with 17 mph gusts and the air temperature is 57 degrees. High tide was at 3:29 early this morning and low tide is at 3:21 this afternoon.

The Dream witnessed much of these events with his own eyes. The biggest issue I saw was after the initial incident, police officers - not Event Staff - came down and confronted the "problem" kids.
The frat guys back tackled and mocked the cops every single time, until one officer finally had enough and yelled very loudly that he was done dealing with them and warned if one other incident hapoened, the next stop was jail.

Your obvious hated of the Greek system is noted. As a former football player, we are to assume you are like all football players. So if a football player is caught robbing and menacing fellow students, we will assume you did the same and are a no good thief, you just happened not to get caught. And by the way what campus organization overwhelming support athletes, the Greeks. If the Greeks decided to not show up one game, you would be the first to say they are sorry and should be expelled. If you are truly ashamed of your school, don't come back. You saying you are ashamed is like saying you will never talk to your kid after he made a mistake.

I look forward to seeing what the school leadership does to address this problem. I am willing to bet that it is nowhere near enough. Those little punks who were behaving in such a manner should have been arrested and at the very least be banned from future athletic events for an extended period of time. I am ashamed that my school has not been more aggressive in stamping out this hooliganism.

I am ashamed of my school in that they don't police and he frats. I dealt with this two years ago having my daughter harassed in the stands and several female members of the SOTS also. Until I threatened to go over there the next game if it happened again, they would have done nothing. Shame on the administration for this, this is what I'm ashamed of and no telling how many season ticket holders we lost last night. I am a proud alumni and former players and I'm embarrassed and ashamed when this crap happens.

I was o.k. with it at first ( glad to see the student support), but then it quickly got ugly as the students started pushing my stuff out of my seats so they would have room stand on the bench behind me (aka my seats). I had to ask at least 8-10 students to move out of my seats. Most didn't argue, but a few did with language I won't repeat. Some season ticket holders showed up and couldn't even get to their seats, so they just left. Later one student was smoking an e-sig and I asked him to knock it off because it was blowing in my 6-year-old daughters face. His student friends confronted me and asked if I had a @*#$'n problem. Then two of them decided to fire up cigarettes and began intentionally blowing smoke in our direction. Shortly after that, two students with fresh beers just barged down the aisle and didn't even acknowledge my daughter was there pushing her forward where she almost fell down to the next row. I said something to them, but I won't repeat their response. We then had small bourbon bottles (single shot size) being tossed in our direction from somewhere in front of us. This was all before the end of the second quarter. I'm not abandoning the university, but my seats will be empty and I will not renew them. I'm done! Surf Report:

But we shouldn't label the many because of a few. And if I didn't come back to a game because of all the problems that we have all dealt with at the stadium at one time or another, the stands would be empty.

Been happening horn years on the home side. I've never seen anything so useless as the "Event Staff" that works these games. I don't know if it's from lack of training or lack of concern of their responsibilities but you would think someone at the university would take it's a serious problem! And while in at it, someone needs to evaluate the concession operation during games. I try not to endure that venue very often but I did yesterday and they were as lackadaisical as usual. It's "here's your half cup of popcorn now you owe us $4.00. Using bear hands to put peppers on food even after handling money, etc. The health department could have a field day! Someone at this university needs to take all these fan issues seriously or we will lose them. Someone on here a year or so ago said fan experience HAD to become a priority and these events yesterday speak to that in volumes!

I was wondering when the don't come back statement would be used. This has got to be the most idiotic statement ever made. If we used that logic the university would lose very loyal members that contribute a decent amount of money. This is........ WAS the family section. While I agree an over flow of students is a good problem to have the experiences that Pensacola had, the family in front of him had and the family behind him had is not a good problem to have. They all left. The two go hand in hand. The overflow was into, over and on long time season ticket holders. I will not be renewing my tickets in this section either and will do the best I can to get moved this season. My children should not be subjected to the F bomb every other word. The F bomb was just one of many things they dont need to hear or witness. They shouldnt be subjected to cigarette smoke being blown in their face in a non smoking stadium. They shouldnt be subjected to having alcohol spilled on them by wasted students. They shouldnt be subjected to being pushed by students who are to drunk to realize there are people below their eye level. Visiting teams shouldnt be subjected to having liquids spilled/thrown on them amongst other things by our students. The Troy PD and one University officer did the best they could. I guess if I dont like it I can just not come back. This is on the university. They do nothing to coral these zoo frats and it will cost them dearly. If they poor beer on people arrest them, if they smoke in a smoke free zone, escort them out...it's that simple

Well, I might want to swap my seats in 108. There's a guy, who makes personal attacks toward the players (the kids who want to win worse than we want them to win). I even heard him say he was going to "blow up" Silvers' facebook after the game. Really?? That's what gives "fans" a bad name. I get riled up sometimes too ... but we need to keep a little perspective. These guys are "kids" who I think are doing their best. I guess I'm fortunate that I'm usually driving after the game ... so I'm limited to a beer or two at tailgate. We all tend to act out when we've been drinking. It may sound corny, but I believe this is a time we need to really try to be Supporters.
As for the issues with students, I hope the school can rein in the bad actors ... but still keep the students involved in the game. From other side of the stadium, it was great to see the numbers.

As an State Officer from another state I watched the situation closely mainly as an extra set of eyes for the to or three officers that were trying to handle dozens of students. Basically the issue is the City of Troy and the University Police are out numbered. From working spring break for over twenty years you take a surgical approach and remove all parties involved quickly. Once a few were removed it seemed to calm down quickly. I personally will be making some calls tomorrow. I never felt my personal safety was at risk at any time but then again I live in spring break hell so I am used to it. I do feel for the folks with kids and the fact that people were forced out of there seats. Don't expect non sworn event staff to move over one hundred people once they get there. They key is have the staff route the traffic out of reserve sections by ticket stub checks. They used to do that in 107 a few years ago. Just a matter of hearing the sheep.
