It would take a lot to convince me we hired Parker because we really, really wanted to; meaning that he was in the 1) spot on that list Brent Jones keeps in his pocket. Or even in the top ten. Or was even ON the list until we burned through those who actually were on it and now we were down to the bottom of the barrel of who was left to pick from. It still makes zero sense to me. The only thing it seems he had going for him was he was in the camp of Brown and our last head coach. There was not anyone anywhere in the college football world who saw this Crazy Ivan move coming. And the reaction wasn't "WOW! Didn't expect that but now that we see it, WOW!" No, instead the reaction was MUCH the same as when we hired Fester. The faithful remnant swallowing hard, keeping it positive while keeping their reservations to themselves, and saying, "well, let's get behind it and hope for the best" and the OTHER faithful remnant scratching their heads and going "Really?...Seriously?...What just happened?" So, trouble hiring a coach at Troy? Yeah, I think that's definitely more than plausible. Are there a lot of coaches who would love to come to Troy? Sure! Are there a lot who would settle for what Troy has to offer when it's time to talk business? Well, I believe apparently not or someone else would be coaching at Troy. It is said that Texas A&M leaked Stoops name early before it was official to run it up the flagpole for the fanbase and see the reaction. The reaction was very sour and offer was withdrawn. We are not TX A&M. So we have to settle for a PR campaign from previous coaches and others to try to cajole support for our hire when the reaction from many has again been, "really?...seriously?...what just happened? Make a "pros" wishlist of what you would want in a head coach and compare that to the actual pros list we're getting with Parker and it would in NO way be an inspiring exercise. We have trouble hiring the coach we want at Troy. We have no trouble hiring any coach we can get at Troy. Even if this one seems like a Troy-Kinda-Guy. You can definitely have that opinion, but it's based on assumptions that are false. He was the absolute #1 on the list. If you've met the guy or spent any time around him, you understand why.

I'm guessing the "do more with less" line? That's our reality, I'm afraid. Yes. 1, Troy fans need to understand that. It is who we are, yep reality. Why you treat these coaches to an extent, like paid mercenaries. HC Parker would not be at that podium, spewing all his feel goods if Troy was not paying a lot of money. 2, Sumrall saw that he was going to be nickeled and dimed to death even after delivering b2b championships. He wanted out. Saw his chance and took it. The good coaches are aggressive and ambitious, they want more. 3, Doesn’t mean Troy can’t be successful and I fully expect to win. Troy can and has overcome its challenges. HC Parkers job is to win, he can work harder than anyone, I don’t really care, judge him on whether or not he wins, plain and simple. I would agree for the most part. I wouldn't say that Jon wanted "out," just that he wanted more. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure we would have paid him 5 million a year if we had it. He wasn't unhappy. Just ambitious. That's a good thing.

Did y'all also hear Dr. Hawkins talk about keeping receipts. 😂 I'm pretty sure he quoted Scarbinsky when he was dogging us in the early 90s for moving to FCS. JHawk also called Duke an ACC Power. nah bruh. But if you listen closely there was one line uttered by JHawk that spoke VOLUMES and one of the reasons why Sumrall wanted out of Troy. I'm guessing the "do more with less" line? That's our reality, I'm afraid.

Will Parker be the best ever at Troy or lose every game ? WE WILL SEE. During any coach search, a lot of trusted input is asked for and received by AD’s BJ is good at it and for it. So a lot of “noise” is generated, in all different directions. Yeah, he wasn’t on the top tier list but he could be the perfect fit or the worst disaster, life is funny that way. We will see. Can we at least be honest and admit that ADBJ had nothing to do with this hire. This was the micromanager CJH's hire and his alone. This is not a knock on ADBJ, but he is powerless under CJH. Trust me, this was strictly the hire between Parker, CJH and Neal Brown. If you notice the first quote on X (Twitter) on the hire released by the school is from Neal Brown. Again, nothing against AD BJ, but as at a lot of schools, the AD had nothing to do with this hire. This is false.

Same. And my gut is calling for Gasperano to be hired. I REALLY hope that's the call and Brent can make that happen. The Lesley direction will just....well, I'm going to have to be convinced for sure, by the wins and losses. Until then, I'll be sick to my stomach. It is done now and the president took the advice of Neal Brown. AD had no say in the matter, totally Jack Hawkins call on what Neal Brown said. Not sure who you are or your connection to Troy but all 6 of your posts are factually incorrect and nonsense. We don't have a president. Heck Hawkins is our chancellor. Brent Jones made the last hire and he made this one.

I'm very excited about this hire. Time will always tell, but I believe Brent Jones just hit another home run! Go Trojans!

Is a very serious candidate to be the next Head Coach at Troy. My gut says he’s the guy barring any last minute surprises and that if I’m right he keeps several assistant coaches presently on staff (Gary Banks and Evan McKissack for sure) as well as bringing back Vic Koenning as DC. Man, I really hope this isn't the case. I believe we have some very good options, but this is one I would not be excited about. No matter the coach, I'll support the program, but this would be a HUGE step backwards.

I guess I have a different take than a lot of you do. I remember the misery between Neal & Jon. I'm so thankful for these two years. I'm thankful for Coach Sumrall and everything he did here. I'm not mad at him at all. He's improving his life. I don't blame him one bit.
I tend to look at the glass as half full. Life is too short to be angry and bitter all the time.
This is our reality as Troy fans. Troy has come a long way, but we aren't one of the bigger schools. If a coach has great success here, he won't stay long. That's just where we are. Let's be glad for the success and look forward to the next great one.
I only hope we don't repeat the mistakes made after Neal. I think we've learned our lesson.
Go Trojans! Always!

I was thinking about moving sections and getting closer to midfield but if people are going to turn 116 into a real cheering section I’m all about staying! I think before next season we need to come up with some things that fans can do to support the team! We need a chant for kick off I think we need a song as well and not sweet Caroline even though I love it! We yell, "Cryyyyyyyyyyy HAVOC! Go a Troy!" I don't care if no one else does it, we are loud enough to be heard! 🤣

Where do you sit. Are you on the top row? I am in Row 6 section 116. Usually make it to 3 games but only 2 this year because the six hour drive home has been depressing ! I usually wear a kilt. I stand pretty much the whole game! If you are the guy doing the DaaaaOooooo you are very loud! My wife hates you but I love it! Lol The top row would be my friends who recruited me to that section. I'm on the row below. I've seen you in your kilt!

Come on over to section 116 and join trojantke, Mr E 205 Legion, & me! E are trying to build something in that section. It's a regular thing to have people in that section leave because of all the cheering. 🤣

Culture CANNOT be rebuilt quickly. It took Neal Brown an entire year and the program was in much better shape culture-wise. You underestimate the impact and power of culture. You can have ALL the talent in the world and if the culture is bad you have nothing. I'm not saying the new coach can't win year one. But it's going to take some time to rebuild the wall. One week isn't going to change that. Who said anything about one week. A good coach can win with this team year one. You underestimate the desire and want to of our players. The week I mentioned is in reference to the panic that seems to be happening by some of our fanbase because we haven't hired a coach yet. That was my point in my initial post. Hiring a coach this week or next week isn't going to make a difference in the culture change that must happen. Every college football team has players with desire and "want to." Not every team wins. Again, unless you have been part of leading a culture change, it's hard to understand how difficult, how long, and how important that change is.

My advice is we all take a deep breath and relax. The truth is that when we terminated (The HC we don’t speak of) with one week left in the season and only 4 weeks until early signing period, this recruiting class was mostly lost. Hiring a coach a week ago vs a week from now isn't going to make a huge difference. We only have 10 seniors. Whoever we hire will need some time to rebuild. This is a multi-year rebuild because culture takes a long time to change. So, let's not rush it. Let them have time to get it right. I'm choosing to relax and trust our leadership. Nope. Culture can be rebuilt quickly! We have an example in our our program with Neal Brown. We have the talent now. (The HC we don’t speak of) couldnât use that as an excuse. We wouldnât allow it. We saw the talent in the program. This multi-year rebuild crap some of yâall are already toting around is negative juice not based on facts. Culture CANNOT be rebuilt quickly. It took Neal Brown an entire year and the program was in much better shape culture-wise. You underestimate the impact and power of culture. It's almost like he's happy even though we lost. We played good, etc. This is NOT the attitude I want to see in a coach!
