I think the analysis is spot on. I don't think two great years at Troy will make Sumrall the leader anywhere, but Arkansas State was a revolving door for a few years...

This is reality for us at the end of any successful season. The only thing that may save us is the fact that JMU is the media darling this year so the Power 5 schools may make a play for their coach. But like Buzz said just enjoy the ride for as long as it lasts.

Neal Brown probably will be fired soon, so we good if HCJS leaves.

The head writer for the Athletic mentioned HCJS name as a replacement for Mississippi state. Of course he should be if we go 24-4 in 2 years. I've greatly enjoyed the past 2 years. I think they should go back to Dan mullen imo

Neal Brown probably will be fired soon, so we good if HCJS leaves. That won't happen. Also I don't think NB is the same coach now. He was hungry when he got to Troy (Like HCJS is now). Don't think he has the same fire

What happens can't be stopped by Troy beyond the capacity Troy has available to it. This almost paranoid coaching change watch is maybe interesting but being able to enjoy the moment is I would assert is better way to spend your day. Go out and watch a sunset or sit and listen to a stream. It is unlikely that JS will be here for a long long time. It is also unlikely that we will have two defensive ends like we now have. Enjoy folks. I am not so self-indulged to think that this advice be taken but life is way too short to ponder about things that could happen that is beyond your control. Trust me .........use sunscreen. (Baz Luhrmann)

Could Neal Brown run it back at Troy and re-hire Vic Koenning from ULM?
I'm also not sure how Neal Brown's offensive-scheme would jive with the personnel we have now. Troy's not a spread offense team anymore, and that's undoubtedly what NB prefers.

I think Miss. State either rehires Dan Mullen since he's their hero or hire an offensive minded guy like Mike Leech was because they are built for the Air Raid. I do believe Sumrall is on their list but maybe just a few names down behind maybe a Willie Fritz or Jamey Chadwell (current Vegas odds favorite at 3/1).
I would be nervous too if Arkansas comes open but most I see has Gus Malzhan as a Hogs fan favorite for some reason.
Personally I have 0 idea who I would want as a replacement right now so I hope Sumrall holds on for at least another year.

The only two things I want to "watch" Jon Sumrall do, now or in the future, are throw a headset and sing with the student section following more conference championships.

Old Miss State is a dumpster fire. With Texas and Oklahoma joining the mix...they have ZERO shot at finishing any higher than 6th and 6th is being kind. Maybe no higher than 8th and a trip to the Liberty Bowl

Gus has been in the SEC and knows it would be tough at Arkansas (still think much better job the shanksville State) but he is in Big 12 in a hotbed for recruiting state. He will be at UCF for quite awhile and has a chance to do very well (since he got rid of a recent coordinator by the name of XxxxxxxxX)

Was traveling in Mississippi yesterday and CJS was on short list of names for Miss. State - BUT there were just talk show hosts.
List included Jamie Chadwell, Willie Frist even at 63, Dan Mullen and a few others I can't remember
It's good to have our head coach mentioned for being hired away.

Think its gonna be Chadwell considering he posted a tweet with Starkville as a location (if this was photoshopped someone please tell me, I laughed hard when i saw it)

Plus most head coaches don't X themselves — someone on staff or in the sports information department will handle that.
