It was a fantastic event. Coach was very honored. Best food I've had at any event!

We've lined up a couple guest speakers. One from Auburn, one from Troy. Still finalizing the agenda. It will be a great event.

Crawlspace, that had much more to do with potential responsibilities and nothing at all to do with money available.

My apologies if this has been posted already. I can't contain my excitement at the incredible staff Coach Brown is assembling. From FootballScoop.com:
Vic Koenning: North Carolina associate head coach for defense Vic Koenning is leaving North Carolina. Sources tell us he has a strong chance of being named defensive coordinator at Troy; but that is not finalized at this moment. Bruce Feldman has reported the same.

I'm in 205 with you...moved there from 107 a few years ago because I like to see the entire field better. Sometimes we slide down to the reserved section next to 205 if they let us. And if you can tell anything by my profile picture, I am a bit of a fanatic.

And remember, it's not a matter of who has an open date on that day, most teams have filled their schedules for the next year. In fact, I bet all have. That means there are probably only 12 teams (UAB's opponents next year) that have an opening to fill and none of them coincide with our open date. Of course we could schedule one of those teams on another date that we have as a bye if that work. Most likely, we will all be scrambling to get an FCS opponent to fill it.

I hate this for their fans, players and coaches. I hate UAB as much as any of you, but I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I do think it might be an opportunity for us. However, chances are that their best players catch on with larger schools. Unless we get a coach or two from UAB, which I hope we do.
My only concern in all this is another conference shift. They will no longer be welcome in CUSA, which means they will be looking for another team, which most likely means another raid of the Sunbelt. I certainly hope not, though.

Heard that part of the deal is a significant increase in coordinators' salaries.

I disagree...not the same old good ole boy network. I do think he will bring one or two with him. I think the ones that need to be gone will be...if not all of them.

I'm pumped! He was my first choice and I think he will make an immediate impact! The next chapter begins!

What are you basing that on? I can't imagine Dr Hawkins playing any part in the selection process other than financial. I just wonder, as it relates to him, if we have more money for coaches salaries now why not earlier to help LB gets better assistants. Inquiring minds want to understand!:-) Seriously? Jack Hawkins is the process. Always has been always will be.

Any source for this bit of news? It's too late in the game to get Clark. I definitely hope we get Duwan back, though. Maybe some others.

There is also a guy on the staff at UAT that knows how to recruit Florida and was a successful head coach in the Sunbelt.

Neal would probably be my first choice as well. And for the record, I think he is the top choice.

Just to answer the questions about why Dooley would be a good choice...again, this is my opinion: He is incredibly intelligent. He holds a law degree and actually practiced law before coaching. He has learned from some of the great coaches. His dad, of course, but he also worked with Saban at LSU and Miami Dolphins. He actually led La Tech to a winning season in 2008, which is unheard of! This is after he served as their Athletics Director as well. He's had experience recruiting against the very best and has probably learned more from his mistakes in this regard. He has pro experience at two places, which can't hurt when you are in the living room of young men. I think he would be a great ambassador for our University as well.
Not saying he is the best available, but when we talk about the right "fit," he may just be the guy.

Just wanted to pass this info along. I'll provide more details as we plan them.
The East Alabama Alumni Chapter of Troy University and the members of the Auburn Letterman Club are joining together for a Celebration Dinner in honor of Larry Blakeney January 16, 2015 at the Event Center in downtown Opelika. Time and cost TBA.
We are hoping that proceeds will either go to a scholarship in Larry's name or toward the North End Zone Project.

I would be thrilled with either Neal Brown or Derek Dooley. Both would be great choices in my opinion.

He's getting over $6 Million period because of the buyout. Not contingent on anything else.

Don't forget that it's highly likely whoever we hire will have built personal relationships with several recruits that could end up at Troy because the coach ends up here. Happens all the time. I believe this next recruiting class has the potential to be our best in years, if not ever. Provided we hire the right person, which I have full confidence we will.

Maybe I'm crazy but I refuse to dog any choice by Hartwell until I see results. I trust Hartwell to make the right hire. I don't have a clue what we need. All I know is what I want. I want someone who can recruit, coach, and win. I don't care where he comes from, what division he has coached in, what experience he has, or anything else. I just want someone who will win at Troy. That will bring excitement. Can't wait till the announcement.
Go Trojans!

Time with my four kids is precious, too. That's why I'll be there WITH them! I only get 6 home games a year to travel to Troy, so I'm going to take it every chance I can! I'm going with no expectations other than to be hoarse as I preach the next morning! Go Trojans!

Jesus had long hair. I assume he wouldn't be on your team either. Actually, Jesus most likely didn't have long hair. The pictures we see are of a European white dude. He most likely looked similar to Gadaffi or Bin Laden. But I like the point. Traditional appearance is just a personal preference. I like uniformity on a team, but that's not necessary to be "together." It was good to see you at the tailgate Saturday, by the way.

I'll be there with two more. Man, I hope it rains! My prediction is that we will run more than we have in 8 years and we will eclipse 250 yards rushing. We win going away. Troy 31 UA's B Team 24
