F-State will be tough this year, they have a good chance of taking #1 in the Mountain West, that could put Boise back in AZ for the Bowl...

Do we get a Trojan horse on the sidelines with this turf? Anyone?

If one of the finalists isn't a "home run" hire, then promote Brent Jones. While true he was no experience as an AD, he must start somewhere and if it's not at TROY, it'll be somewhere else, REALLY soon. We don't need to loose him. +1

I don't think it was an intentional shot at TROY at all. There were probably better ways to communicate it but we on this board are understandably overly sensitive and therefore reading a whole lot into it that I don't believe is actually there. I don't know what his degree or long-term career goals are but another school just might be the better path educationally to reach them. That isn't necessarily a put-down of TROY's institution. I left TROY and transferred to MTSU because it provided me a better education and better networking for my goals. I'm a MUSICIAN, saying that another school was better for me than TROY, Dr. Long, Ralph Ford and the rest of the fine SOTS staff and family. I have nothing but respect and absolute LOVE for them. However, at the time pretty much all I could do with a music degree from TROY was teach and that isn't what I wanted to do. Networking with movers and shakers in the music business really only happens in places where the business happens. MTSU and Belmont were pretty much what fit my needs. I transferred and ended up as the studio manager of a semi-private recording studio owned by two prominent artists (who were married at the time). I've worked on many album projects and got to meet, sing, play and work with dozens of huge music artists - some of them with legendary status. I love TROY from day one but none of that could have happened if I'd stayed at TROY. There are educational programs at TROY that outshine all others and are best suited for those on that track and some programs that are less than others' or non-existent. It is what it is. I wish Smith success, unless he suits up against us. Same for me, even with the Grad Degree from TSUM, I ended up going back to UCLA to get an additional degree for what i needed....no dig at TSUM.

The sad thing is, basketball is supposed to be a revenue sport. I don't see how Troy is making any revenue considering the attendance. Money is made from TV rights from the Tournament and each League gets a share, split similar to FB and the bowls.

WVU fan here. I hope I can speak for our fans when we have appreciated your kindness with our visits here. We have been where you are and it sucks. It was Dana’s time to go. While he has been fun at times, I believe his lack of discipline permeated our program as well. I’m a firm believer that a team does take on the personality of their coach. If I’m right, we are in much better hands because Coach Brown seems to be an exceptional human being. You guys have every reason to tell us to piss off, but you haven’t and that is refreshing. I hope for the best for you and your program. It looks like Coach Brown left your program in a position to succeed regardless of who you get, but hopefully your next coach can build on what has already been built there. I wish you guys the best next year and going forward. Hopefully our fans will treat him as well as you guys have. I will make sure to be there when WVU plays you guys at your place. Please do take care of him, he will be having your football players helping the Freshman move into dorms soon enough...BTW why are you guys in the B12, why not the ACC?

Football season was supposed to be over. Suddenly, we get hit with a hurricane of rumors that CNB might go here and might go there. We were tracking flights and reading other team boards. Now that it looks like we have to find a new coach, the excitement will continue for a good while. More planes to track, more team boards to visit, and the debating and arguing over who the best guy should be. This is exciting stuff.
The last time we did this, it had a sadness to it as we said goodbye to Legend Larry. There may be some folks upset but I think we are all filled with the "Next Man Up!" feeling. AD/DL will make the right move... they did it last time.
As Hemi always says: "It's a great time to be a Trojan!" Staying on topic here...I have to agree 100%, I remember when we had Maddox, then those early years with CLB, it was a huge struggle to get 500 people to show up to a game...The main campus was a commuter school, most students lived in Dothan or Montgomery and would leave Thursday night and not come back up late Sunday night, so we had practically no student attendance on Saturdays. Dr. Adams had no interest in Football and was committed to just survive Alabama politics for school funding...Making National headlines let alone the State of Alabama news was never an option either academically or athletically... I was back on campus for the first time for the Boise game in over 20 years....when I saw the Freshman run across the turf...OMG. Seats with backs in the stands, not just wooden planks...Kids not rolling down the South side grass...People actually tailgating, and not just sitting on the side of Wallace in broken down cars....No parking for miles in either direction... What I witnessed back in September was that the Administration, Coaches, and Players had not only their physical presence on that Campus but that their hearts and minds are deeply embedded in the process...This is called a Culture, a Campus-wide Culture, not just in Football. How exciting these times are, knowing what we have come from, to now being at the forefront of National attention in many areas. The Culture train ain't stopping any time soon, and in the great word of CNB, "Ain't the same Troy this time 'round" Go Trojans...and "It's a great time to be a Trojan!"

Not only the money lost, to the schools, but what happens to Boise’s 23 ranking in the AP and 25 ranking in the Coach’s polls?

Perhaps this will help in your calculations for (The HC we don’t speak of) attendance... The Buffalo NewsQuote: "The week should slow for the Bulls once they arrive Tuesday in Mobile, where they will practice and attend bowl functions, including a visit to the University of South Alabamaâs Childrenâs and Womenâs Hospital on Wednesday and a visit to the USS Alabama battleship in the Mobile Bay on Thursday. But, Leipold said, âat the same time, it beats the alternative.â"
"UB has sold 2,000 of its allotted 7,500 tickets to the Dollar General Bowl, per a UB team spokesman."

Probably Buffalo in bowl but sure wish our teams could just match up with CUSA champ too against our champ and like the idea of the Belt matching 1 and 2 against the MAC and CUSA 1-2. Then letting 3-4 match with AAC and MWC 3-4’s that would help differentiate the G5 conferences. Whoa...that almost sounds like a playoff.....D1 will never let that happen, too much money in the current form...

Commish said its a framework, not a requirement...so yes we could. I guess teams weigh the $$$$ vs one less home game and possible two losses Yep, and the implication of the second potential loss on a Bowl bid, which leads to more money being potentially given up..

Today on ESPNU on Sirius XM, Commissioner KB explained the framework of the SBC scheduling... The below is not a requirement just a framework; 1) 1 - P5 game a year 2) 2 - peer conference games a year (MAC, C-USA, AAC, MWC, WAC) 3) 1 - FCS game a year Purpose for the framework is to get more CFP money, the higher our overall non-conference win/loss record as compared to the other G5 conferences...the more of the pie the SBC gets. The SBC record for non-conf games was 21-18, in first place for the G5 ... linkAlso so that P5 losses do not hurt as much when it comes time to go Bowling....again, potential more money. Do you think this brings down our league in terms of getting stronger OOC games, (the "playing bigger foes, makes our team better" thinking)? Do you think it does not matter as long as we get a bigger piece of "Money Pie"? Interesting thoughts and the future with a new Commissioner once KB retires...

From USA TODAY NCAA Coaches Salaries #91 Troy Sun Belt Neal Brown $810,000 $810,000 Max Bonus $490,000 Bonus Paid ('17/'18) $100,000 $2,911,667 (school buyout 12/1/18) Thanks corn. They are pretty accurate with the coaching salary reporting, been doing it for years. How do we invest the $2.9 million? New coach ? Downpayment on IPF? Invest the money in the next Coach, upgrade the Coach and the facilities will come...

Yea...and the cool town of Tombstone is only another 1 hour or so further South and East.....that is the coolest western town I've been to, right up there with Calico, CA... Lots of Sand Rails (redneck equivalent to Monster Trucks but on Sand), Horse Riding, Indian Casinos, Hot Air Balloons, and on and on...Love the desert in the Winter...Summer not so much... Thanks for the info California Trojan. Where can we go see The Wall being built as a side trip? I know that sounds perverted but hey I’ve got people driving through my town to see the carnage from a storm. Sorry for all the weather issue you have had in the Panhandle, every Labor Day my entire clan meets at Seaside for a reunion... So you want to go to see the Wall, the best place would be to go to Nogales, about 1 hour due South of Tuscon, be sure to bring your Passport, a few years ago they changed the law so you have to have a passport to re-enter the US from Mexico... Wife and I love to go down to Baja for the weekends and enjoy $1 fish tacos and $2 cerveza...everything is 1/4 of the price you would pay here in the US...

Nobody flys into TUS...you can pick up a cheap flight from ATL to PHX...TUS is only 1 1/5 hour drive South and East of PHX.... PHX is 43k miles. That's not terrible. National owes me a car for a day anyways. Thanks! Arizona is too far for us to travel. If you're flying out Atlanta, Birmingham and Montgomery it would likely be cheaper to catch a flight to Orlando or make the drive to Mobile. I just looked and daym. Delta from ATL to TUS is high as hell! They want 70k skymiles when I just went to Vegas on 22k skymiles.
A lovely morning in Montgomery would be better than shelling out that cash.
