Nope, he is too busy calling games out here.... Well get him here to call games with Barry. If we doesn't mind we film games with a 1983 Sony camera and 2004 Motorola flip phone, he would make a great addition in the booth and could coach in the week Last time I saw him, 2019 season, a Sunday 1:05 first pitch, he, Charlie Steiner and Rick Monday were having lunch in the club, I said hello, then they all finished off a 16 oz. beers...Then went to the booth...he is having too much fun.

We need to recruit some better pitchers, or either find a new pitching coach. I know Matt Hancock helped make Levi Thomas great, but Levi Thomas was pretty good from the get-go TBH. I haven't been impressed with the pitching at all this year, especially considering the depth we have at that position. We're currently #10 of 12 in the SBC in opponent batting average. We do have Orel Hershiser's nephew on the team. Maybe we could hire Orel as pitching coach. Nope, he is too busy calling games out here....

I won't use an absolute, I won't use the word "irreparable", but the damage about to be done could take years of really hard work. We are on the precipice of becoming the Bowling Green of the Sunbelt.
Cheers!

The fact that "Whup Jax State" was so huge while I was on Campus makes so much sense after reading this... The South rivalry pails in comparison....

On a lighter note . One of my first days at a Troy I was headed to the Golf course with another a Freshman ! He was driving and when we got to pace hall we saw all the girls , we were both looking at them and he forgot to watch the road and rear ended the car in front of us! I don’t think he was the first or last to do that! I raise my hand...guilty.

When I was at Troy in the early 2000s I had heard that the parking lot between alumni hall and the admin building had been the location of the football field before. I may have dozed off during a lecture of Dr. Vollrath and got it confused though. That was an empty field we used to play touch football on when I lived in Slumni...

After this season ticket sales will nose dive. Donations probably too. We could lose every game remaining and we will probably still have (The HC we don’t speak of) Dip going in to next season. This is a bust folks. Great hire Hawkins. $200 from each season ticket holder per seat would buyout (The HC we don’t speak of). Or at least get it very close. Think of it as a 1 time TSL Gofundme.com

Lets see you have a coach that turned Troy around. Instilled discipline, had us going in the right direction. Got an offer at a larger school no big deal. So would you have a guy that learned on the guy that turned it around staff or some guy that’s staff hoped for various reasons under multiple coaches. And if you think you can’t promote from within and be successful you might want to look at pictures of the staffs that were around 1979 to 1980. And again at the staff under HC Gailey. Nah it could never work hiring from within. A little hint both of these coaches have championship rings. Maddox broke that streak....

I was there between '85-'89, best years to be on campus, Dr. Ralph was retiring, parking his Crown Vic in front of John Lewis (Bibb-Graves), half of the car was on the side walk, and the other half was straddling the parking bumper....Dr. Hawkins was young, just came over from the D&B school...still had a 18 hole golf course...Slumni smelled like pee from the 2-4th floors....Dr Doug Hawkins would hire all of us to work for him, so we could earn some money...Herb Reeves beat all the residents in Slumni when we needed it...SAGA served the best salads...I would never eat the mystery meat...The Library would be were we would meat up with the ladies...Had the whole campus to ourselves Friday-Sunday as everyone would go home for weekends...Rooks Pizza was the best...Byrd Drug served some great sandwich's...The fillin' station had the coldest beer in town. Sisters had just opened, and had the best biscuts... Sikes and Kohns was the best place to get boots...And the Football team was kicking a$$....Fun times in the '80s! Don't forget the sorority babes sun bathing in their bikinis in front of Pace Hall in the spring, The Bowling Ally in The Adams Center, Intramural softball in the Spring on the now Tailgate Terrace and Sartain aka new fitness center parking lot, Thursday nights at the Front Porch, the old snack bar/laundry room in Slumni and the big screen TV room in Slumni, Dr Carroll's 1930's suits, and movie night at Smith Hall Yep, Thursday night at the Porch, Softball on tailgate terrace (I never saw any tailgating the entire 3 years I was on campus), Big Screen TV room, Dr. Carroll...OMG. And how could I forget Sartain, did Carlin do his stand up in Sartain or Smith...
