Nice perspective! (copied from thread)
LSU lost to an 11 & 2 Troy team at less than full strength. Meanwhile, Troy could beat a lot of SEC teams at full strength this year.
Of course, the O haters went off the charts for a few weeks trying to make it seem that lost was the worst loss ever in LSU history and telling us all ad nauseam that I told you so.
In fact, for a couple of weeks on the Rant, every thread was calling for O's head on the chopping block immediately and it wasn't even his fault we lost. Indeed, how was it coach O's fault that the team he inherited from Miles didn't have any depth to it? Which was why so many true freshmen played this season. Coach O had to deal with the team he was dealt.
Nonetheless, the truth is we had numerous key players sitting out because they couldn't play in that game. On top of that, we had an Arden Key playing who was a mere shell of his former self. Not to mention, that Troy had one of the best teams that it has had in decades that could have beaten several SEC teams at full strength.
That loss is considered to be a worse loss than a normal bad loss only in the minds of unhinged people that don't give a damn about facts because they are obsessed with hating O and trying to insist that they are smarter than everyone else. These are all the same lunatics that condemned the Miles firing.

It's been a great year. We beat a ranked LSU, beat MAC and CUSA divisional champs, defeated conference offensive players of the year two games in a row, won a conference title, and blew out CUSA West leader in New Orleans. May have set some statistical records in the process. Final National Stats (you know, the ones they said didn't matter): 1st - Red Zone Defense 1st - Tackles For Loss 3rd - Kickoff Returns 4th - Sacks 4th - Rushing Defense (yards per rush) 9th - Interceptions 13th - Sacks Allowed 16th - Tackles For Loss Allowed 21st - Passes Defended 15th - Scoring Defense 24th - Total Defense The tackles for loss, sacks, and rush defense stats are a testament the Front 7's domination. We have a legit SEC level defense, and a whole lot of those pieces are coming back next year. TroyFootball05 has done a great job putting together this post! I think EVERYONE should use the facts from his opening statement to KEEP Troy Football in the minds of the pollsters. Especially since some on this site are worried we will be forgotten by the end of the FORTY bowls! LAST year someone continued to share a website that listed all of the pollsters AND their social media contact info. MIGHT be time to start reminding them about Troy for the NEXT TWO WEEKS! Pass the info on, will be happy to do my part....

I would be extremely extremely shocked if he played in the other game. This is where he wants to showcase his skills. I would agree, but disappointed, as is would have been my chance to visit with him while he was on Best Coast, in Pasadena.

Well said...I’ll be there for the Boise game, first time back at the Vet since 1989... Doesnt even look like the same place it was in 1989. You will be amazed in a very good way, it is really a beautiful campus and the facilities have come so, so far from the stadium with the grass hill and greek letters leaning against a wall. OMG, I had forgotten about the Greek letters leaning on the hill....hell, I was pledge Lamb Chop that had to paint them, green and yellow....

Now four months after the original post, we have the benefit of hindsight. What a great season it was overall. It doesn't get much better than 11 wins and a long-desired victory over LSU. Not only the number of victories was special, but I believe we continued to mature and play with more discipline as a team. The growth in fan support and marketing by the Athletic Department staff was big-time this year also. It's a long wait until September 2018, with a home opener with the new North end zone facility and a big name opponent in Boise State. We'll have many new faces in key positions and will have to see who all remains on this very successful coaching staff for the 2018 season. Once again, its truly a great time to be a Troy Trojan fan! Well said...I’ll be there for the Boise game, first time back at the Vet since 1989...
