And what was all that "Yeah Troy asked me to show up for work.." bullcrap. Not gonna even lie, I've lost a ton of respect for the man. May Tulane go 0-12 for the next 3 years and make WVU look as if they made a SMART move with Neal Brown. Money talks, yes, but loyalty still matters. This was a poor exit to me. I know some of you will disagree but I'm not trying to sell ice cream or win friends or anyone's approval. A poor exit. So yes..adios... and don't waste no time packing up. Just get the heck out of town and over to that cesspool of an outdoor toilet. Bye.

Well. This won't be popular but being popular is not even low on my goal sheet so I don't care. It's my thoughts and mine alone and I don't care who likes or dislikes them. And I know that it is what it is and it isn't never ever going to change. Again, I don't care. I still have my opinion and a right to it. And I'm pissed. Not personally at Sumrall. But, I don't know. It feels like a betrayal and I can't help that that is how it feels to me. I'll have a much harder time giving a coach my support and loyalty. I'm sick of being rallied and excited over what's being built only to have them jump ship like it all didn't matter. So the next time I hear "rebuild the wall" or whatever, I'll be thinking "stay here and be successful and prove why I should be devoted but honestly, I don't trust you until then." I know it's a bit Don Quixote and I might as well fight a windmill but I'm just sick of it and all the hype just feels fake when you're out the door at your first chance. IDK, maybe because it's Tulane. This just feels like such a trash move. If it were KY or some serious P5 SEC power I thought was worthy of Sumrall it might be different but...Tulane? Similar to what someone said earlier, it does feel like you had a good thing of substance with a real relationship but on a whim decided to marry the ugly girl who you don't love but her family is loaded and so you'll be set for life...so you sold out.
Maybe I'll feel different in the AM but for now, I'm just pissed.

I went to every single home game this year. I had a huge rock show production happening Sunday night that was 4 months in the making. I was sick with a horrible cold beginning the Monday before Thanksgiving and lasting until the Thursday before the championship but still have the chest and head congestion even now - I just finally felt human again Thursday and had some energy. I was flying to Ireland for 2 weeks on the following Monday. I left my house and made it 45 minutes into the 2.5 hr drive to Troy and made the decision that there was just too much personally on the line for me to sit in the rain with all that was about to happen in the following 48 hrs after the game. I hated, HATED, to miss it but I simply could not justify it under the circumstances. Troy got my money and we still won. Beyond that, I don't give a flying duck fart what any App St. fan hast to say about our attendance. I saw the social media posts. Then I looked at the scoreboard. Better a Troy fan any day with any attendance than an App St. fan with a sell out every game. I'll do what I can and hope others do as well but I'm not gonna sweat it at all.

I went in to look at tickets. Why are only 3 sections (not great sections either) available to Troy? Honestly, I balked and haven't bought yet with those the only options (I don't want club seats but I also don't want those I don't think). Surely it's isn't nearly sold out already? If Duke gets parity seats, that leaves like 60% of the stadium for....who exactly?

Let's try to be the class of the league and not play down to our competition. Student Section - not included Yes. And believe me, he paid his debt already. Plus, he sent me a sincere and heartfelt apology that was humble and contrite. No need to go there.

Slow roll running it down their throat and still go get 7 more. Can't stop Vidal and Taylor!

Well, again. It's raining. Short yards for a 1st down to keep the drive alive and we throw it. Yeah he was open but a wet ball slipped through his hands. Is it just me? I love the passes but how about keeping the drive alive. We win when we pass to set up run. Got to figure out the wet ball, imo. I can buy that. But...get the short yards and keep the drive alive. LOL. imo. But....I confess I get paid nothing for it and it's worth that.

Well, on 3rd and 2, we try to throw for 10 or 15 yards. With Vidal and Taylor. I don't know why we killed our own drive because it was ours to convert at 2 yards. Not a fan of that call.

Sumrall know. cornhole wait and see while blowhard spew opine. Did you have a stroke? Why are you acting like a wannabe Ho? All due respect, people who talk about themselves in the 3rd person, like people who use closely related names that sound similar to who they want to insult like Auburnt or Obummer, sound like silly 3rd grade school kids on a playground. It's so irksome; like nails on a chalkboard. Ho does it but it's a whole entire persona so not cheesy. Others here do it and man.....I'm with you. It's not new and I've made this same post about it before but apparently folks are comfortable being kinda cheesy. But every time I read it...EVERY time...all I see in my head is all of the primary school kids I've ever been around who wanted attention so they acted silly and drove me nuts on the inside. It's SO bad when it's an adult. But what are ya gonna do?

Ole Miss State is a dead-end job. In what alternative universe do you see Starkvegas beating Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma and maybe LSU in the same year? Ho will wait. Unless your goal is winning the Music City Bowl as your highest achievement, this place be a hard no. MS State is a place you go at 55 for a 4 year deal worth 12 to 15 million and then retire or they extend at a higher # or because you played there - there are only 7 teams that have a chance to win the SEC AL, LSU, TX, OK, GA, FL, TN, AU The rest are in the league for the money LOLOLOLOLOLOL...You said AU. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

We can’t pack The Vet, but we will definitely pack some far away city stadium. Admin should have closed this thread after this perfectly worded notion right there.

Oh and while I am on things that “sucketh aloteth”. The AP poll for not a single vote. Losses to K-State and JMU glaring to voters. We're very underrated and underappreciated this year.

Everyone in here knows brown can’t hold Sumrall’s jock. We are grateful for Neal but I think we are in a better position with who we have now. I second that. No slight to Brown but give me Sumrall all day long and twice on Sunday. Neal Brown is a great coach. Jon Sumrall is....batman. I loved watching Troy football under Neal Brown. I want to PLAY football under Jon Sumrall.

I didn't realize Koenning was there. I like him.
I also didn't realize Hartwell was there. For this reason, I hope not only do we beat the brakes off of them but that we stomp a mudhole in their backs and then stomp it dry. I hope we embarrass them mightily for John Harwell's sake. His exit at Troy made me lose all respect for him.

Iâm fairly confident that the band (students) donât make the decisions on the what and how (music/arrangements). This a leadership thing, and I would recommend directing your concerns accordingly. When you have talented students who are not being utilized at their full potential, donât blame them. Itâs their leadership, coach, or director. I donât believe his comment was directed at the students. Heâs always been a big Sots fan but the new band Director is very bland. They donât even hardly even March they just play an instrument on the field. But at the end of the day, the product on the field is not very good kind of like the (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) era in football.. And when they're out playing their instruments on the field, they're "dancing". It looks more like someone who's getting tazed in a police confrontation. It looks stupid. A marching band that dances looks stupid. IT'S STUPID. Did I say it looks stupid? The most I would go is left-foot-out, right-foot-out back in the Dr. Long era. You say "but the kids like it". Ok. Enjoy liking it but the proof is in the pudding - you've lost and alienated a lot of your invested audience who were once passionate about SOTS and now other bands are now the new standard. I grew up in marching band. I became a professional musician because of marching band. I went to Troy because of the SOTS and decided after seeing them in the 8th grade that's where I would go to school. I used to try to go watch Thursday night rehearsal. I used to show up early BECAUSE I wanted to see them in the quad. I used to care about watching the halftime show. I used to show them off to friends at other schools who thought that their school's college band was great. "Yeah, but watch THIS" I would say. I don't do that anymore. I WAY don't do that anymore. It's not that they're bad. They're just average. The direction makes them look silly and not something I can take serious. Pregame. That's the only thing I'll say fits the culture that I know of as the once great SOTS. Don't like that I'm saying this? Get in line behind me. I don't like it either; probably more so than you. It's a heartbreaker. But nobody can't force someone to like a dancing-bear band or new palatable, skin-so-soft changes. Them's the breaks. Welcome to average.

So here's a question that's been on my mind and though I have some possible ideas but no good answer to settle it. HCJS has one season under his belt at 12-2 with a championship and a bowl win. We look to be on the same trajectory result this year. Some of us have already worried if he'll be snatched up and gone by year three. Slim odds on it but still there's a chance. A similar year three and those slim odds go to say, a greater than 50% chance or much higher depending on outside circumstances and prime opportunities opening up elsewhere. James Madison is in their FIFTH season with Cignetti with a record of 50-8 so far. His salary is mean to below average there. I did a scan of their board, albeit a quick one. Not much talk or concern of him going on anywhere it would seem. I'm just pondering on why that is. It's not like JMU is a nobody program. They were a known element even before moving up to the SB. What do you suppose the difference is? Cignetti is definitely being looked at. Cignetti will also be 63 years old when the next football season rolls around. Hiring young stars, NFL coaches, top recruiters and having extensive CFP experience is where's it's at right now. Winning talks. A 50-8 record will trump being young all day long. I don't buy that...or some of the other. I can see maybe some XP but. I don't know. Winning is where it's at in football. Not age.

If and when we do get a new band director do you think The Sound of the South will get its groove back or can we expect more of the same politically correct nonsense? It isn't the quality of the band director; it's the clout. Johnny Long had the connections, reputation, and clout to keep academic administrative bureaucracy, which is completely the enemy of anything in the extracurricular arts, from hog-tying the program and killing its success. Now, the SOTS is unimportant in the big picture of Troy University academia and they have been relegated to the bottom shelf. And while I'm on the subject of academics now, I'm more cognizant of collegiate ties to China and all things Chinese, though I don't know how wrapped up in China Troy is. I know Dear Leader's wife has a partiality to them. To whatever degree Troy has ties with China, I'm all for that dying and withering on the vine. Without going into details, the reasons should be obvious these days. I'd like to hear what other's take on this is and what knowledge you have of the Troy/China connection. Yes. I am anti-China, no matter what the cost may be.

I say grant the waiver. Let them play. As a compromise, if they win the East they have to play the championship game at the winner of the West. It’s a stupid rule anyway, don’t want any excuses. Bring it ! We ain’t scared. I concur with this provided THEY travel to play in the SBC and if all SB schools are asked and sign off on it. That's probably unlikely but that would be my criteria. And we all know that my criteria matters a great big deal.
