I'd be just as happy if they dismissed them from coaching the bowl game if it weren"t for the student athletes. If we win, I celebrate them, not the coaches.

One monkey (or three) don't make no circus. Again, very poor show for our previous coach. Should have left this alone until after the bowl. Very little respect left. All coach speak again; I mean lies.

Obviously some won't care at all but there'll likely be some who will. This is likely not a good look at all. I hope He Who Shall Not Be Named never gets to play in this bowl. He might get himself into trouble.

Photo from yesterday’s presser. You're using chatGPT right? How did you learn to get the precision you're getting? For instance, if I try to use an exact word, say Troy, it will come out TuurToyt or some crap. I'm brand new to it so I don't know what I'm doing really but I haven't found anyone else who doesn't kinda shrug and just say that it's not exact enough for now.

What a special group of young men... They're a great group of guys..... cue Jaws music. I did NOT hear that, I heard, "A gritty group that is ready to get on that bus and go to Birmingham and take care of business" You're confused. I wasn't talking about the press conference...and I wasn't totally serious but it was the first thing I thought when I heard the phrase. www.instagram.com/reel/C1A6QZgNj-I/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D

Welcome, Coach Parker! Glad you're on board and looking forward to what you'll do with the mighty Trojan football program. Keep and even raise the standard high!

So, upon some introspective reflection, I'm gonna back-peddle and admit that I was wrong to come out of the gate swinging the way that I did. It wasn't really that I needed to do "research". I just thought there was a better route to take and this one just looked desperate. However, I need to practice what I preach and I'm certainly very wrong on this one. So I've deleted my prior vomits, I mean comments. Those of you who may have replied or quoted me, it might now be out of context but obviously it's your choice to tidy that up or let it remain as is. I'm all in. Let's go, Coach Parker!!

Same. And my gut is calling for Gasperano to be hired. I REALLY hope that's the call and Brent can make that happen. The Lesley direction will just....well, I'm going to have to be convinced for sure, by the wins and losses. Until then, I'll be sick to my stomach. Since you don’t even know the guys name are you that sure about it? I have been jet-lagged and was laying in bed sideways typing with one hand and one finger. Next time I'll take a full body pic with me in those circumstances and upload for you for permission to post a typo since it matters a great deal to you. I was nude too. I don't give a piss if I typed his name wrong. Tons of you clowns will do that stupid, immature, goofy substitute name for these guys and teams that's supposed to be an insult but ends up making you look like a clown, like Crap State and stuff (seriously, this is 6 year old territory). But from here on and forever, I will be spelling his name Gasperano in your honor...and I hope he is our coach. I might even begin to misspell every single post I ever make. Just for you. All for you. With pics. Of me nude.

Is a very serious candidate to be the next Head Coach at Troy. My gut says he’s the guy barring any last minute surprises and that if I’m right he keeps several assistant coaches presently on staff (Gary Banks and Evan McKissack for sure) as well as bringing back Vic Koenning as DC. Man, I really hope this isn't the case. I believe we have some very good options, but this is one I would not be excited about. No matter the coach, I'll support the program, but this would be a HUGE step backwards. I could not agree more. I'll feel like it's Jan 11, 2019 all over again.

Ethridge doesn't excite me at all. If I hear him announced, I'll feel the exact same way as I felt when we announced He Who Shall Not Be Named. But if he doesn't lie or necessarily paint things up with lies, coach speak, his stock will go up at least.

I'm not speaking of the AD and the coach. I'm speaking of the coach and the fans.. and what's spoken to them and the public. Do you honestly expect Sumrall to announce to the fans, before it happens: “hey if I get an offer for 3.5x higher than my current salary, in a city I like, at a school I enjoyed coaching at, with better facilities, with a recent record of winning at a high level, I’m going to take it”. This wouldn’t happen at any job in America, don’t expect it in college coaching l. Sumrall can care for the Troy program and players and want to advance his career at the same time. Both can be true. Again, don’t get attached to these coaches. They are hired to do a job. I don't know if I've miscommunicated or not because I'm having to watch this board from my phone rather than a computer screen and it's harder to see and recall all of the context of everything and I can't go back and reread without losing what I may have typed already. So I'll just say this... I don't think and didn't say a coach should announce something to the fans. What I did say, or mean to communicate, is that a coach shouldn't lead on the fans, institution, the student athletes, and student body with statements affirming they are staying put and that there's no need to worry, only to completely flip 180° days later. Instead, if there's a possibility to move, don't lead anyone on - just either stay quiet about it to the press or deflect without spinning it. "I'm not getting into that stuff at this time. Next question." Or something a bit more soft but that says the same thing. But saying you and your family love it here and " Yeah, Troy asked if I was showing up for work so I was here at 5AM" and the like, that leads organizations and people to put stock in what's being said. It makes a person seem duplicitous. I had all the respect in the world for Sumrall. He shattered that with his exit because of how it played out. I knew he would leave. I knew it could be this year! But then it appeared there was no smart place for him to go. Add his "coach speak" and things feel pretty solid. I'm no longer personally going to accept "coach speak" or whatever bull crap it is labeled as, for something such as this. It's called lying. I feel lied to. Many of us do. Some are coming around. Perhaps one day I might. But it isn't this day. Finally, I'll say this: feel free to "you do you". I'm not trying to convince you or anybody else to think how I do. I'm stating my perspective and from my POV and simply responding to defend it if challenged but I'm not trying to convert anyone. Why are you?

I'm fine if we don't get someone who stays forever. I just want to get someone who is not gonna lie. Sorry, I'm full-on flipped here. I'm not going to accept the term "coach speak" anymore but I'm calling it what it is for this instance and all others. If you can't say the truth aloud then you have a choice: keep silent or do the truth honor by not giving innuendo and falsifying the realities. Probably best to keep silent in all matters like this. In this instance, coach speak = lying. Saying "We love Troy" and "we're not going anywhere" (paraphrasing because I don't remember the exact quotes) and then doing the opposite of that...well, you can dance between the raindrops and paint it up and smell it up however you like but at the end of the day it is a cut-and-dried lie. It was an unrespectable exit. So get someone who will stay for as long as they say they will and be honest and up front when the chips begin to fall, no matter what the cost may be. I can respect that. This other...it makes me lose all respect regardless of what happened on the field. Certainly feel what you are saying, but how would the AD, in any capacity know if the coach was being 100% honest ? No way on God’s green earth he can know that before hiring a coach. Or during his employment. Only way you will know whether or not the coach is not lying, it will be way too late. Treat coaches as hired guns, mercenaries, that’s what they are. They are hired and paid to do a job, judge them on those results, period. I'm not speaking of the AD and the coach. I'm speaking of the coach and the fans.. and what's spoken to them and the public.

Evan McCissick is coaching the OL for the bowl game. I don't know what the deal with Bernardi is except that it has nothing to do with Sumrall and he has been "gone" from the team since after the SBC Title Game. That's odd. And also odd that nobody here has noticed that or mentioned it until now. I wonder what that's all about.

I would take him. Watching him speak in several instances makes me believe he has the spark that a coach needs to reach the players. And there isn't a coach alive today who at one time wasn't on their "first" assignment. Neal Brown and that last coach we had...they both started their college coaching careers somewhere. Woods is not a completely unknown element. BUT...first we've gotta get a head coach so that HE can choose who he wants. This is kind of cart-before-horse, mental masterbation.

My bet is that after the bowl game, an exodus to Tulane happens. I hope not but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm glad Chris is returning. I hope all the players make a bit of a statement in their actions. These are great guys it seems (hopefully that wasn't lies as well) so the future looks bright if they lock arms and stay.

Don't give a durn what anyone else thinks. You have your right to it. So do I. I'm still pissed. I believed him when he said, not too much longer than some hours ago, that he and his family loved Troy and indicated he was staying put. THAT is what doesn't sit well with me. You can say NOTHING. Silence IS an option! Or you can say something without giving false hope. Lots of coaches have done that. This was not that. This was hot one minute, cold the next; that feels like a betrayal. He doesn't need my support. He's got millions. He gets paid to get my pissed off opinion tossed in his face. I'm not loyal to Jon Sumrall, especially given how he left. I'm loyal to Troy.
And I have to suspect in reading between the lines that the inside baseball would show ADBJ feels similarly. They'll of course give all the platitudes for the public but let's not forget what's been reported: as soon as he knew Jon was leaving he immediately put Gas in charge and coach was cleaning out his desk. He stayed and finished at KY. Other coaches stay and coach their bowl games before moving. As beloved, successful and supported as Sumrall was, you'd think we'd give him the option. Doesn't appear we gave it a seconds thought and Gas was given the keys. And I'm not alone. There's a LOT of people who think this went down in a completely tacky way that we would've thought was beneath JS. Well, apparently it wasn't. Money talks with coach speak laying cover and integrity walks. I'm pissed. And more than a little sad about it all. It's a permanent stain on a beautiful two years and I hate that it went that way.

I guess I have a different take than a lot of you do. I remember the misery between Neal & Jon. I'm so thankful for these two years. I'm thankful for Coach Sumrall and everything he did here. I'm not mad at him at all. He's improving his life. I don't blame him one bit. I tend to look at the glass as half full. Life is too short to be angry and bitter all the time. This is our reality as Troy fans. Troy has come a long way, but we aren't one of the bigger schools. If a coach has great success here, he won't stay long. That's just where we are. Let's be glad for the success and look forward to the next great one. I only hope we don't repeat the mistakes made after Neal. I think we've learned our lesson. Go Trojans! Always! Well played, Mark Gainey. To ALL of you other folks who are hurt, betrayed, angry at HCJS. GROW UP. You don't have to share my opinion but the only one that gets to invalidate it is... Me. I'm not telling you how to think but likewise, you need not do it for me.

Whoever is playing Tulane, or whatever other lame school offers Jon more money in two years. I’ve enjoying pulling for West Virginia since Neal left, and wish him success. This is different. XHCNB > XHCJ$ Absolutely. Jon did not leave well. At the VERY least, he should have worked the deal so it stayed under wraps until after the bowl game. I don't care what Tulane and Troy leadership had to do to make that happen. Finish what you stated. As he did at KY or even unannounced until after, I don't care what. This was a shat. I don't care how "normal" or typical it is.
