I'm upset with the game too. I am losing interest fast. I can be doing SO MUCH with my time, energy, and resources on Saturday afternoons in the fall. Maybe I'll spend what I did last year on scuba diving this fall instead. I will be there in the fall, every Saturday. It's more than just football or entertainment for me. Tailgate time with lifelong friends is not easily replaced. That said, in the "old days", which was not too long ago, you used your strength as a recruiter, your programs accolades, and your coaches reputation to sign the guys you want and build a great program. Now the competition for recruits has moved from the staff office to the banks. Troy's 8 SBC titles since 2006 don't mean as much when Texas State can sign big time talent just by opening their wallet. I always looked forward to recruiting season, and then the fall to see what we could do. Recent developments have me thinking about football less and less during the down months. Other things on my mind. It's easier for me. Probably because my whole life hasn't really existed around sports/football the way most guys are; particularly those from the south. So my lifelong friends and I bonded over other interests unrelated to the sport and we're not locked into it thankfully. But the other angle for me is, you can't follow a player's career and development on your team anymore. They're here for a season and gone and you can't "bond" with the roster...so you're less and less emotionally invested. At least that's how it is for me.

We should bring in ringers for key games. Seeing as there are no rules anymore. Let’s hire Brandon Silvers for the Iowa game and maybe some NFL players with legal troubles for when we play south. I’ll be honest and say I haven’t renewed my tickets yet. I’m upset with the game, not Troy. I'm upset with the game too. I am losing interest fast. I can be doing SO MUCH with my time, energy, and resources on Saturday afternoons in the fall. Maybe I'll spend what I did last year on scuba diving this fall instead.

Dang. This makes me so sad. I have so much respect for and think so highly of him. Praying he gets a 100% clean bill of health when all is said and done and goes on to have one heck of a football career.

^ fellas, we aren't deep enough into the off season to devolve to this type of posting. Give it until June. If you're finding this bothering, you're far too invested in it.

I'm saying, I didn't notice your aggression....just your passive aggression. THAT was very evident.

Old news. The fact that it's been months and you're just now noticing and mentioning it is more telling of the real truth of how you feel than your comment on it. All this shows is a passive-aggressive defense mechanism you have to shield you from the reality that it does matter and bother you and fake the appearance that it doesn't. I'm absolutely certain you'll say it doesn't but, to quote Shakespeare, "the lady doth protest too much, me thinks". Aggressive? Yes! Didn't even notice.

I had to delete the phone app last night. Even though I've got every setting I can find in the settings set to ONLY football, I'm getting every inning score notification for baseball as well as basketball and other notifications. I really don't want those. Has anyone else seen this or know a fix? I didn't want to delete the app but notifications every 15-20 mins through a baseball game was driving me nuts.

"It's How You Finish". Sounds like the autobiography of our former coach.

Neal Brown left AFTER his bowl game. Came back to address the crowd at Trojans Arena...this guy was at the Bowl Press Conference on Tuesday and at his Press Conference at Tulane on Wednesday...if Tulane wanted him so bad, they would have waited. Like I said, he neither recruited them nor lived up to his end of the bargain. Heck, Kimani even played in the game, when he had the most to lose with an injury. Agree, Timing is everything, for both parties. Tulane had stipulations, take it or leave it, etc. $2 mill swing for JS. Money Talks, Coaches walk. I'm with ya Ho. As much as I loved having him here and seeing what he did for our program, it's all tainted by how he left. There's no way you can't tell me that he couldn't have said to Tulane, 'you'll want me to leave you honorably when the time comes and I need to do the same now while I'm at Troy". If they wanted him SOOO badly, what were they gonna do? Go a different direction because he wanted to stay a few more weeks and finish out? Could all they were investing NOT wait a few weeks? "But they gave him X amount for him to come NOW and who would turn that down?", you say. What you're really saying is that integrity has a price. "I won't do the dishonorable thing for $200,000 but if you're saying you'll give me $2,000,000 more well then I'll come now for that. You either have scruples or you don't have scruples. "I wouldn't trade my family for $200 but if you give me Bill Gates-sized money, well....I'd have to think about it." Naah, the answer is NO not at ANY price. You do the right thing. If it looks like you're losing out on a lot, just realize you aren't. It's an investment in something else that money can't buy. That's a blessing that at some point down the road, because you sowed a good crop of character, you might get to keep your integrity AND be given the cash prize too. Who knows?! Even if you don't see it later. You did the right and honorable thing. I doubt I could ever be convinced that JS did an honorable thing. A ruinous stain on an otherwise solid performance. He's a beast competitor, right? It has been said that in a race, all runners run their absolute best but only one wins and gets the prize. Imagine easily leading the entire race, with everyone cheering you on, and glory in your grasp only to stumble at the very end and losing! No one cares if you led the whole way and lost. JS got his money. He lost my respect. To be such a competitor, he lost the competition that matters most in my eyes, especially when I thought he cared about these sorts of things so much. In the end, apparently not. Just money. So yeah. Get outta here. Ya lost.

It'll be a waste of a Saturday and a game I'm completely uninterested in if I'm being honest. Was Birmingham-Southern not available? Or Oglethorpe College?

Was hoping to hear who the OC would be at last night's Zoom call. Still in the works apparently but it sounded like it could be any day now. Who are y'all thinking it'll be? I think it's Tim Lester. Football Scoop reported a while back that we are waiting on the Packer's season to end to finalize the deal. I don't know if that's a courtesy, or if we can't legally sign a deal with him until after the season because of NFL contracts. In the call he did mention that there was a, I think a running back, from the school of the potential OC so it wouldn't be an NFL deal. My memory is a bit hazy on that though.

With Saban retiring and the coaching waves that could happen as a result, anyone else think it would be funny if a better job opened up for XHCJS but he would miss it because he jumped at Tulame. I really do like JS, but just an intrusive thought especially after seeing the poaching from recruits and portal transfers. I would LOVE it. And would pray they lose, like I already do.

I have to admit (and I love possibly being wrong here) that it looks very promising from a leadership standpoint and I'm excited about that.

Screw our former coach. He can take a long walk off a short pier. And yes...Tulane can burn to the ground. If Tulane lined up to play ISIS, I'd be in the stands with a black flag and a white smudge. I get what you are saying, but I spent a good portion of my career on those ba$tards. They are evil scum and I could never support them. LOL it's hyperbole.

I grew up on the streets of Tallahassee.
I go there frequently.
It's far less anecdotal for me to say "it is not the same place and has been very affected by the wokeness that has turned it into a less than good city. It's a generality for sure; one could even say it's a stereotype. And stereotypes have a bad rap. They're there for a reason. Gravity is stereotypically sure to pull you down to earth, for instance.
Are there good folks there? Sure. Is there the ilk of what TBB is talking about. Absolutely.
