My fellow Trojan Warriors,
As the news broke today about Coach Jon Sumrall's departure for Tulane, it's only natural to feel a mix of emotions. While it's never easy saying goodbye to a coach who has brought us so much success, it's important to remember that the heart and soul of Troy University's football program run deep, far beyond any one individual.
Coach Sumrall's tenure was nothing short of remarkable—two Sun Belt titles, an impressive overall record of 23-4, and the indelible mark he left on our beloved Trojans. We wish him all the success at Tulane; he's earned this next chapter in his coaching career.
However, let's take a moment to reflect on what makes Troy football truly exceptional. Our legacy isn't just about coaches; it's about the enduring tradition and unwavering culture that has defined us for years. Troy boasts not one, not two, but **three National Titles**—a testament to the storied history of success that runs through our veins.
We've clinched **eight Sun Belt championships**, consistently producing standout performances that showcase our dominance in the conference. The NFL has been graced by numerous Trojans turned professional players, and we even have Super Bowl winners among our illustrious alumni. Let's not forget the pinnacle achievement—**an NFL Hall of Fame Member** proudly representing Troy.
As we bid farewell to Coach Sumrall, let's rally around the foundation that has made Troy football a force to be reckoned with. Our tradition is our strength, and our culture is our identity. We've weathered coaching changes before, and each time, our commitment to excellence has endured.
The Trojan spirit is indomitable, and our dedication to winning is unwavering. So, as we turn the page to a new chapter in Troy football, let's channel our energy into supporting the program we love. The future is bright, and our legacy is built on the collective efforts of players, coaches, and the entire Troy community.
Trojan faithful, stand tall, be proud, and get ready for the next triumphs that await us on the gridiron. Because at Troy, winning isn't just a habit—it's our legacy.
Go Trojans!
Still with Attitude, Toughness, Discipline, and Love,

I wish him only the best. Plus I would not be sad if we beat them out for a playoff position in a couple of years!

Well written but…nope
He’s a mercenary just like the rest of them. He’s not leaving for a P5 job. I would get that. It’s Tulane. Sorry but it’s a money grab.
He doesn’t want to be here? Bye. I hope he falls flat on his face.

Not if we dont move quick and he takes the top talent with him. He has my permission to take craddock Craddock has been excellent with his versatility on offense definitely meshes well with a defensive minded coach. I was skeptical but definitely enjoyed his game more than a bunch of screen passes.

Nope. Well said but, nope.
All this stuff about family and better people making better players is garbage. It’s not like he’s leaving for a P5 job. I would get that. It’s freaking Tulane. Tulane! This is a straight money grab to go coach and live in a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country.
Bye. I hope he falls flat on his face.

Not a bad post but had Sumrall left the right way I wouldn't be furious. I hope he fails.

All of you with inside sources…
Did Jon have a meeting with the team? Or planning to? Or is it just peace out?

Yes, it’s very disappointing that he would leave Troy for Tulane. Very understandable if he left for a P-5 job, but a subpar G-5? Of course, he could have been unhappy for reasons not known to us.

There is not a one of you who would not take a 300% raise unless they asked you to have relations with Hillary Clinton. Then you would at least consider it.
