So what is our biggest weakness next year? I hope its 100 degrees on this day. Our kids will be use to it and Boise - not so much. Here is hoping for a 2:30 Kick or earlier. The heat and humidity is our friend on this day. It will be a tough one for us to win but I have no reason to believe we cannot do it. I like a high noon kick off but TV will determine that! I was thinking the same thing Redwaver, would be fun to open at high-noon (or even 11 AM) with temperatures rising during the game to help our friends from Idaho enjoy some of our late summer heat! Could play to our advantage. As you say, TV will dictate the kick-off time. Would love for GAMEDAY to visit Troy in our season opener, could show off the new-look stadium to the nation over the Labor Day weekend!

The new Rec center is going to be built in Sartain parking lot. They are gonna keep Sartain up until the new Rec Center is close to being finished and then tear Sartain down and turn that area into a parking lot close to the size of the old lot. There was an email that went out stating that the new lot that was just finished will replace the entire amount of spaces that the Sartain lot had plus it has an additional 300 spaces. So according to the email campus actually gained 300 parking spots for the spring and once Sartain is torn down that will be even more parking. Thanks for the clarification 1029, I saw a big hole in the ground being dug in the old parking lot and assumed it may be where the new indoor pool will be located so what you shared here makes sense. Hope all this is settled prior to tailgate season!

The AP has us at #31 (following the National Championship game last night). The Coaches Poll is frozen from the pre-bowl season so the last ranking we had was #30. Guys, this is awesome to think we are on the brink of cracking the top 25. Exciting times for TROY!

Maybe I have been watching a group of impostors dressed in Trojan uniforms play this season because the multiple ladies games I have attended have proven that we can score (one of the leading scoring teams in the nation). This team will grow and learn as the season unfolds, and my guess is Coach Rigby will figure out any necessary adjustments to keep Troy in the hunt again for a conference title. Awfully early to throw in the towel on this squad....

I agree and do hope he gets a chance to make the big league club. When we have Trojans in the Majors, it can definitely help with the recruiting!

Willie Tullis for us real old timers. Final season 1980. Not saying he’s the best but he was outstanding. Drafted by Houston. Returned kickoffs as a rookie. Returned one 95 yards for a TD versus the rams to beat them in early September 1981. Jim McKay, on television, called him a “rookie from nowhere”. We didn’t have social media at the time, just telephones, but due to the outcry from the Trojan nation about this, McKay was on television the next week with a map showing the location of TROY, ALABAMA, HOME OF TROY STATE UNIVERSITY! Willie was an outstanding QB for Troy and had a very successful NFL career. Sat with him at a Homecoming game when Levi was in his Senior year. I watched his first game against the LA Rams and saw that epic KO return. The announcer was actually D*** Enberg, shortly after his call of the game, he wrote a note to TROY apologizing for saying Tullis was from 'NOWHERE'...

I have two daughters, football is not necessarily their first love like it is mine and their mama. This morning the 7 year old says, "since the game is so late and Memaw will be keeping us at home, can I at least go to Trojan Walk and high five the players before I go to bed." Wow, tears in my eyes! Bottle that moment up my friend, I know you must be proud! Hope they get to enjoy Trojan Walk!!!

I give you a big AMEN to that point JonesOxygen, it's all about the preparation, hard work, dedication to detail, and the ability to convince the guys that they deserved to be in this situation and should not feel intimidated or overmatched. CNB and his staff did something that we've wanted to see forever, just this time, we were in the 'perfect storm', right coach, right staff, right players and playing the right team at the right time. I hope ESPN and other networks give Troy some additional opportunities to showcase our team more often on National TV.

Guys, in order for us to get ranked, we will need to keep winning, and winning, and then maybe we find ourselves in the Top 25 again. The marquee win over LSU has given us exposure that we've needed for a long time. We still have plenty of work ahead of us, no doubt that Arkansas State will be 'chompin' at the bit' to see us come play on their field in early December. All though the Belt seems to be down this year, we still have to take care of business each and every week in order to be recognized at seasons end.
I think we'd all agree that the Pride of the Trojans has come back in full force and it is my hope that at some point, maybe in the not too distant future, TROY will be one of those respected G5 schools that can find ourselves in the conversation each and every year.

I think Coach Brown's lovefest for TROY is a sign of just how great a person he truly is. When I read and hear his comments and his understanding of our proud history, my mind is almost tricked into believing he himself is a TROY alumnus. I know that we may be near the end of his tenure here at TROY (this year or next) but for now I'm really going to enjoy watching him coach and continue to be amazed by the man Neal Brown. He is, as far as I am concerned, the classiest college coach in all of college athletics. He may have an equal but there's no chance anyone surpasses him in that respect. He has a lifelong fan in me. With that said, as I listen to his passion about TROY, I find it very difficult to imagine him leaving though my head tells my heart what the reality will be. I know this one thing for sure, if and when Neal Brown leaves TROY he will have made a lasting impact on the TROY family and set an extremely high bar by which all future TROY head coaches will have to reach. He stated in one interview that he always wants to leave a place better than he found it. Mission accomplished Coach! Mission accomplished! Totally agree KSD, spoke with Coach at church on Sunday (yes, he made it to church after arriving back in Troy at 4:30 AM from Baton Rouge). He is the real deal and no doubt what this program needed when he was hired on to lead the Trojans. Would love to see him hang around for a few more years but certainly understand that he has to do what is best for his family and career. Saturday's statement has given us the best possible press coverage and with CNB being the spokesperson for the University, we are in great hands. We've been blessed to have his leadership and the heartfelt way he displays the Trojan spirit!

Just saw an interesting stat on ESPN showing the 'Biggest Paycheck Losses' This Year:
LSU paid Troy $985K Syracuse paid MTSU $950K Rutgers paid E. Michigan $860K Nebraska paid NIU $820K
Troy totally earned this paycheck and we will all remember how wonderful we felt on September 30, 2017!

You have the right to your 'opinion' Troyguy, but having been to many home games for the past 5 decades, I can tell you that I have never seen as many fannies in Vet as I did last Saturday evening. I was at the Marshall game when it was the largest crowd, then the Missouri game when it broke the record, then the Alabama State game a dozen years back almost had biggest crowd, five years ago Mississippi State and now ASU again. Just understand that unless you have a 'history' of being in the stadium and seeing all the 'warm bodies' including those standing in the concession lines (which had the longest lines I can ever remember), the bathrooms, aisles, boxes, and all around the perimeter of the stadium, there is no way on earth we didn't have a 'record crowd'. We can respectfully debate the actual numbers, but there is no debate that we had the most folks ever to watch a Troy home game in the history of 'the school we love'! To your point, there is no doubt that schools embellish their attendance numbers, Troy has been guilty of that as well, but take this old guys word that we did have record attendance in the Vet on Saturday. As a side note, I hope we can argue this point after additional future home games, especially when we have the new enclosure complete and ready for Boise State to come to town. THIS IS A GOOD PROBLEM TO HAVE FOR TROY!!!

Looks like they have moved the game... the game is now sandwiched between USM's Miss St and Alabama games. USM has a tough schedule in September: road games at Miss St, at Troy, at Alabama: sports.usatoday.com/2017/08/08/southern-miss-announces-football-series-with-mississippi-state/"Southern Miss was originally set for a road date with Troy on Sept. 7, 2019. That away game will instead be played on Sept. 14, 2019." "With the announcement of the Mississippi State series, the non-conference portion of Southern Miss’ 2019 schedule is complete. The Golden Eagles are scheduled to host Alcorn State on Aug. 31, before traveling to Mississippi State on Sept. 7, Troy on Sept. 14 and Alabama on Sept. 21." Got to hand it to Miss State, at least they are willing to play in-state schools that aren't in their own conference. It was awesome to have them come and play us in Troy, wish other SEC state schools would follow suit!!!

No doubt that this team could be special however, we must maintain focus throughout the season and not take our eyes off the goal of a Conference Championship. It should be an entertaining season in the VET.

The scrimmage was so fast paced, the weather was very comfortable and this team looked great. I do believe we could see the best squad to ever don Trojan uniforms this season. Hope we can get things started off on a positive note in Boise, can't believe were just 19 days away!!!

Maybe 3's a charm for the TROJANS! Funny that our 3 trips to Baton Rouge have been against the last 3 head coaches for the Tigers. We gave everything we had in '04 against Saban, with a bad call in the endzone and a last minute drive by LSU to beat Troy, then the 2008 game against Miles, that none of us will ever forget which should have resulted in a W for TROY. Now, we may be carrying over the most experienced and talented team we have ever had at TROY to Death Valley, against Coach O, so who know what may come from the 9-30-17 game. Only time will tell.......

Shoes are awesome, but no doubt that Adidas would have a real issue with a Trojan playing in Nike's. As for the Makers Mark, the wife and I took a tour a couple of years back in their distillery in Bardstown, KY (Coach NB's hometown), that is one amazing place and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. Looks like the photo has SEVERAL hundred dollars worth of MM in the background.

I have to believe that Troy will be the only team in the nation this year to play both of the Idaho Division I Schools, and unless something changes for the Vandals, we may be the last team in the country that will ever play both schools (as a D-I members) in the same season. Apparently, at this time, Idaho will be going to FCS (Division IAA) after they wrap up the 2017 season. The sad thing is that they are actually playing about as well as they ever have as a D-I member.

Guys, if attendance continues to improve, that generates additional revenue that could be used towards coaches salaries. Would love to see the day when we need to add the upper deck to the South Endzone to get closer to the 40K seating capacity.

Game day experience would not be the same without the Sound of the South in the stands. We are extremely blessed to have such a dedicated and talented group of young people that work as hard as they do to provide a great atmosphere in the Vet (as well as at away games). Even our Pep Band rivals most other school's full band.

Hi Troy fans. I think Boise State will win but this game has me worried. Too many unknowns for the Broncos. However I'd take the points as I think it will be close. You've got an impressive G5 program and deserve kudos. Welcome to the troyfans site Houstonbronco. We do have a solid coaching staff and a wonderful group of young men wearing the Trojan uniform. You should see a team that will put out a great effort in Boise and will give you guys everything you can stand. Many on our board do look at Boise as a program that we would like to replicate and for TROY to become the 'Boise State of the South'. Not so sure about the 11 point spread but we are not coming to Idaho to just see the blue turf, we do intend to bring home a 'W'....
Enjoy the game and check in with us from time to time.
