WVU has had some good defenses — not elite — with Lesley at the helm, but they have dropped off the last couple of years statistically. A friend of mine played with Lesley and gave him his vote, so I’m trying to keep an open mind, but I’m not overly wowed if this is the direction we go.

Does anyone else on this board believe that Coach Gas and Sumrall could pass as brothers? No, but if I’m only listening and not seeing them. I can’t tell the difference between Gas and Neal [ Which is funny because I said the same of Sumrall and Neal when we first hired Jon.

Craddock can’t hold Sumrall’s Jock I would prefer that no Troy coaches are holding other coaches jocks. Loincloths acceptable?

I’m excited about the McCreary kid from Montgomery Catholic if the new staff can keep him in the fold.

I got the sense VK was done with Troy once he wasn’t seriously considered as Neal’s replacement.

Personally I think if we got Rich Rod, maybe he could give us 5-7 years of stability before retirement. He’s done a fantastic job up north.

Bill clark id be good with… we would be contenders every year under him… he was good for about 8-9 wins at UAB on average. Which is pretty impressive for UAB. Won 3 championships there too. He would likely stick around 5-10 years as well. Brian harsin? I could get on board with that too, proven winner Craddock and Gasparato? Idk they would worry me just because of all the unknowns, I’d lean towards Gaspaeato if I had to pick. The others really don’t excite me at all tbh. The AU fanbase says Harsin quit before he was fired. They say he did no recruiting. I know AU is a messed up place and the boosters practically call plays on game day, but I worry that he will what the youngsters call ghost-quit if he doesn't get his way. Man, I’d have a hard time putting my best foot forward if some real “powers that be” claimed I was having an illicit affair when I wasn’t — just because he wasn’t their guy. Allegedly.

So who on here will man up and say you’d turn down your current salary times 3? I’d consider fit and how God leads, but that’s a major selling point for sure.

I'd love to have Al Pogue back, but does the resume equal head coach? I think he's capable.
Some of you older Trojans, don't stone me... but do we steal Whup Jax State's coach?

I think every emotion expressed here has some validity.
If you're mad that a guy who preached "Love" as a core value then bolted at what seems like is a lateral opportunity for more money, I get that. I understand why you'll be less likely to trust the next coach.
If you don't fault a guy for tripling his salary while maybe advancing his career stature just a hair, I understand that too. Many of us would, especially if the money could generate generational wealth for decades to come.
If you wish to find a coach that would stay longer than two seconds and really buy into this wonderful place we call Troy, I'm totally on board.
If you understand and accept that is unlikely to happen with a GOOD coach that consistently wins, I understand that, too.
What we need to accept in this college football world where vicissitude is the norm — players transfer quickly, coaches leave quickly, etc. — is that the true fans ARE THE STABILIZING FORCE. As someone noted earlier from Neal Brown: Troy will always win. It's about the people who support financially whenever they make a donation or buy a Troy T-shirt. It's about the administration that guides these investments. It's about a community that FINALLY understands it's an FBS community and is acting that way.
I'm excited about what the future generations and alumni will do in 10-15 years. They know Troy and only Troy. Those who attended school with me knew Auburn and Troy or Alabama and Troy because we grew up with both since both were on different levels.
The Sumralls and Browns will come and go. The Rosses and the Oxygen Joneses will be here 30 years from now. Let us stand unshaken as The Mighty Trojan Death Machine the fans really are.
Let us take a few moments to heal and let us root the players and coaches who are still around with all of our might. We have a nice opportunity ahead — to win the first bowl game that pits a Sun Belt team against a Power 5.

Oh yeah I forgot, Mark Stoops was going to be hired at Texas A and M also. If he leaves he will let the Troy family know. He is a class act he will do it the right way. Since we are talking about leaving the right way, XHCNB came back to Troy after he took the WVU job and I talked to him at a basketball game. He told me, and you can believe me or not, that: "Troy will always win. It's 20% coaching and 80% culture." So how much coaching did Sumrall’s predecessor do?

Tez would not have left if Box Nix wasn't his brother. That was THE factor. All's well that ends well. Tez got his Bro and had a good season, we got #6 Chris Lewis. Troy O didn't miss a beat. Honestly getting Jabre back from injury was a huge difference. The offense last year was just starting to find its rhythm when we lost him .

lets hope and pray it doesn't take as long as the NEZ complex to finally get built. I believe he said $10,000,000 commitment. Final piece to the puzzle. Imagine that and keeping HCJS I had the same thought. North End Zone was $30 million, so that takes a little longer to raise. There has been way more interest and investment in athletics recently than 15 years ago when NEZ was first pitched. We were still a relatively new FBS program then. We’ve grown so much since then.

Coach Sumrall tweeted a picture of the practice fields last week and i had a hunch it was a teaser for that. I'm excited because you know the outside of that building is going to be gorgeous unlike the RV covered parking lot that UAB has right on the interstate. I will give it to Jack and Janice they have an architectural vision and it makes the university look beautiful. I saw that same tweet. It all makes sense. The IPF is huge for preparation, but I wonder in the era of NIL if it’s as big of a recruiting tool as it used to be. Still, it’s needed and we have the space. Great things happening!

I feel awful for FSU. They did everything g asked of them: go undefeated in a Power 5 conference. The fact they WON two games with second- and third-string QBs PROVES they are a complete team and is not a handicap.

A great setup here. We're great in the fourth quarter. Score here and make it a double-digit lead, then let Rusty's program take over.

Good job holding to a FG, and a long one at that. Can't afford any more mistakes like that. In fact, we need to force one or two of our own.

My concern is that they come out of the locker room with some adjustments and tie the game. It's like it's scripted or something.

It's OK. We've always known other teams have played with a 99-yard field against Troy. Do better, Sun Belt.
