That Auburn loss in nothing.
Going 1-2 against Northwestern State (who is 12-26) is looking bad.
I'm afraid the lack of Top 50 wins, plus that Northwestern State series loss, loss to SIU Edwardsville and loss to Jax State... are going to ruin any at-large bid chances... even if Troy goes on a decent stretch of wins and RPI is in the 40's or even high 30's.
Well, to quote Jake Taylor in Major League, “Well, there’s only one thing left to do: win the whole $&?!$@! thing.”

If we take two out of three this weekend, that RPI will skyrocket. I'd settle for one, though. At minimum we need to spilt the next two weeks. I told a buddy we need to go about 10-5 over the last 5 series. We are on the way to that. Agreed. As of today, every game we have left is against a Quad 1 or Quad 2 opponent (factoring in home/away status) except next week's Alabama State matchup. We have an OK RPI, but it can get a lot better quickly if we get and stay hot.

18 games left.14-4 gets us to the magic 40 wins.Never want to leave it to the committee. If any team goes 14-4 against the schedule we have left, that team should host a regional. At Coastal, ULL, Alabama, James Madison (RPI 25!)... It's a chance to put the hay in the barn for sure.

Congrats Lady Trojans! Great season and nice finish. Come back stronger next season. Great atmosphere in the Arena. Would like to see that every night. Honestly I can see the confidence of this carry over into next year’s postseason. Now that the returners have seen what it takes to win in the postseason, this can really charge the program forward.

When they got down 21-9 out of the gate, I worried we might fade on out. But what a fight down the stretch. Great job on making the best of a second chance at the postseason!

It’s hard to beat a good team three times in a season, but I’m confident the ladies can put ULM away. They’re shooting better than they have all year.
Looking at who’s left in the field, no one absolutely scares me. This could be a GREAT year for women’s basketball.

I’m glad we won but there are so many problems with this team I will still call them out when I see them. Your life is so pathetic that you look for things to be upset about. In the words of the great philosopher Buzz Lightyear, you are sad strange little man and you have my pity. Celebrate good things when they happen. Great win. Great resiliency. Hopefully we’ll close out the series win tomorrow.

Ladies take care of business on road. Now we get a home game with ULM with a chance to make the Fab 4.
Great job, Fighting Rigbys!

Bad bad bad bad night. Good thing baseball is a marathon, not a sprint, Some of yall need to leave and never come back. Unfortunately for mid-majors, you can’t afford too many missteps early in the season before you put yourself in the nearly impossible position of having to win the conference tournament. The conference’s RPI offers some cushion, but I think we’re running out of it. This is me being a realist. I’d love to see us take the next two and win the series. We’re gonna have to play with more consistently in all aspects to do so, though.

This is beginning to feel like Smartt’s last season — an awesomely talented group that’s missing something: killer instinct, focus, leadership or something else.

Any time you hit the road d in conference play and take two of three — that's a good weekend.

I think Chanda could be a lifer at Troy. The fanbase loves her and she always has our team with a chance to compete. I think Cross's consistent success without matching titles/post season appearances (that matter) won't be a factor in Troy moving on, but it could cause him to go on. He might shrug his shoulders one of these days and say, "You just can't win men's basketball titles here." While true, this would be a second school that Cross rarely/never got across the finish line. He's going to need to consistently contend for the title by playing in the game a few times before he gets a bigger job. I love what he's built here. He has the talent. Now he needs to develop/recruit some leaders that are clutch, that won't let the team lose in crucial moments. When Phil got us to the tournament, he had recruited Florida transfer DeVon Walker to join us for one year.. DeVon wasn't the volume scorer, but the was a guy that contributed the key rebound, the key assist, the key steal when it was needed. The scoring talent was already there with Person, Varnado, Hollimon, etc. He just needed to bring the leadership and grittiness, and he did. That's why Troy got hot at the right time and rolled through the SBC tournament. This team was overall very young. We may have the most talent that our school's ever seen, but there's something to say about have that grizzled veteran that refuses to lose.

Is Grayson Stewart hurt? You expect maybe one or two rough starts to the season, but he’s struggled mightily a month in.

Troy can still earn the No. 2 seed with a win and JMU loss. The men hold the tiebreaker via better record against top seed.

Hopefully I'm not jinxing them, but defense is VASTLY improved from last year. If we had a good defense, we would have won the first two games in the Tuscaloosa regional and maybe made our first Super Regional. Hopefully the arms will continue to settle in.

It was bad when I checked in and Troy had 8 fouls and ULL 7 halfway through the first half. Everyone of course came to watch the refs tonight.

... have a read on this team yet? As best as I can tell, the only stiff competition our ladies have faced is Indiana, and we went 0-2 against them. Granted, Indiana has been ranked in some polls this year, and at least the last matchup was close.
I'm glad we have the record we have, but I still don't know what to expect from this team this year.

If I tracked everything right, the only loss our Trojans took this weekend was in women’s tennis. That’s two basketball, three baseball, five softball and one men’s tennis match of victories. Well done!

These Trojans don't quit, down by 19 but made it a contest in the final 5 minutes, at their home on National TV. I'm taking the stairs. I'm taking the stairs, but I may need one of those motorized lift things. O2 man, you sell those?

stAte just beat us at home last week, they are a very solid team. We'll have to play our best. They are definitely heating up after a slow-ish start.
