That GA SO game very tough to witness. Had the chance to meet the player that intercepted Rowell’s pass in the end zone. He was amazed that Rowell didn’t just walk into the end zone. He said the pass hit him dead in the chest. We should have kicked a field goal anyway. I used to think my Dad got upset when Emory and Henry lost. That game blew our chance at a title. We were #1 in the nation.

Belittle Troy? By pointing out things I disagree with? Maybe I wouldn't care either way what division of athletics we are in as long as we won a vast majority of games? Do I hate Troy by wishing we keep improving academics?? Been giving to the Troy University Foundation for 20 plus years.I guess I hate Troy because I just increased my bank draft to the Troy University Foundation. Please enlighten me how I don't love this institution. I can name hundreds of people I know who can attest to my devotion to Troy. I served with General Givhan when he was at Air University, do you know who he is? Maybe we'll run into one another one day and we can continue this dicussion. Lot of things I'll take but saying I have hatred for Troy University is a bald face lie. I apologize to the administrator of this board, but I can't take these comments lying down.

ULM's endowment is $23 million compared to $85 million here. They have a 1-AA title we don't. Blakeney had more than enough opportunity to win at least one title. We lost a playoff game as the 1 seed to 16 seed Georgia Southern. I was there, and trust me, my Dad has never been more angry after a football game. I'm sure cane gone trojan can remind us of how that game transpired. I'm also sure he can tell us how that game relates to our poor defense during some years of the Blakeney era. I missed all games from 92-94 , In England in the Air Force. In the Navy From 2001-2004 , I was on the USS Essex in the Western Pacific. When I was stationed at Pensacola, I was a regular attendee. I hope I am forgiven for the times I was in the middle of the ocean trying to watch the games on ESPN shipboard, or when I was on liberty in places like Pohang Korea. When I was in England, I never flew back for a game, I guess that questions my loyalty during those years.

Our coach is the 2nd highest paid in the SBC behind hudsbeth who makes over a million (big waste of money there) So there's plenty of school that do more with less than we do I never want us in a situation where we have bitten off more than we can chew. Happy when we win, hate when we lose.

The foreign campuses give us a worldwide reach. That is somewhere we can beat Alabama and Auburn Yep and who knows if we could beat them on the football field.....They are both too chicken to schedule Troy....maybe because we have beat them on the baseball field time and time again....I don't know.....Do you? I'm too busy getting ready to go to Atlanta to worry about who they play. I would be just as ready to go to an Fcs game if we were still there. 2 degrees 20 plus year donor but still not a true trojan for some. I have nothing to prove or apologize for when it comes to this school.

Be glad to have your son attend Troy. I am glad I didn't go the SEC route and get lost in the crowd. Dr Hawkins says as much as well. I felt at home at Troy since I first set foot on the campus. Never felt like a number here that means a heck of a lot

GoTroyGo....I think you are a Troy fan imposter/troll or a Troy fan pessimist at best...In reality I think you are a Troy hater that cant stand the fact that little ole Troy has had great success at the D1 level and would love nothing more then having Troy be a D3 school competing against the Faulkners of the world....you know UAB would beat us this year makes me LMAO.....The title of your thread was Glorified High School football and I think that you are implying that Troy's level of football is just that..... if so then you are delusional. Go away! Been going to Troy games since 89. Did a stint in the Navy and followed Troy via the awful internet on an amphibious ship in the pacific. How much do you donate to this school? You want to question my loyalty I'll take that challenge any time. Not going anywhere anytime soon. By the way, if we were still D2 I'd be at every game I could cheering just as hard.Have a feeling you'd be AWOL if this were the case

I see two main types of alums I disagree with. The ones who abanon Troy the day after graduation, and those who think we should join the SEC. Support Troy for who we are and try to be SEC level or higher in the classroom.

I know there are concerns about Chunn's health (of course, as NB said ... we have some good ones behind him). One concern I have if he is healthy ... I think on the majority of his last 10 or so carries (S.AL and LSU) ... he mishandled and/or fumbled! That is very concerning!! Maybe we can sneak him some "stick'em" Coach Brown says he is an NFL caliber back. Not fumbling like this.

#1. You really overestimate CUSA. From top to bottom, they are on the same level as the Sun Belt. Troy would be a Top 3 team in CUSA this year.
Troy wouldn't beat UAB this year. You're saying all the old Sun Belt schools in C-USA wouldn't beat us either? Schools like MTSU have overtaken us. They are bigger schools with more money. I was proud when we used to beat them but those days are over. The Sun Belt is below any other conference except the MAC. We should concentrate on winning here.
#2. If Troy had gone 12-0 this season, with wins over Boise State, LSU, Arkansas State, and an Akron team that may be bowling, then Troy has a HIGH chance of making it to the Cotton Bowl. The only teams that would be standing in the way currently would be UCF and USF.
No way , Jose. It's all about fan base and ticket sales. Why do you think a very bad Tennessee team that goes 6-6 will get to a bigger bowl than say a 9-3 Troy? Money, Money, Money.
I love Troy to death but we have to face the facts.

I admire your optimism considering not including AL St we have scored 94 points in five games and 54 in our last 3 including 8 the last one. 36 points was our highest out put against a lousy SWAC team. We are averaging 21 points a game. I'm hoping for the best but I don't see us scoring 52 if we couldn't even do it against a bad FCS team.
The way we played against S Alabama we wouldn't have beaten Huntingdon. That game was almost a bad of a loss as I saw a few years ago to Abilene Christian. I was more angry Wednesday than the time we lost 66-0 (I think) in Athens. Coach Brown needs to do some butt chewin and get these kids ready for this trip. I didn't like the post game interviews where the players were saying " We're still 4-2" The whole season could hinge on this game. Last Wednesday reminded me of the end of the Blakeney era.

I don't care what school you are talking about, you should be at a game to watch the home or away team. Too many of our alums have no respect for the alma mater. Talking about those I've seen for years in the RV's watching Alabama and Auburn games on the TV. That is the equivalent of giving us the middle finger in my opinion. You think Alabama or Auburn would accept it the other way around? I work at the Auburn games. The management at the football games even says if you mention another school at game time you are fired. I can only imagine what would be said to someone watching a Troy game in the community gardens parking lot up here. Probably be laughed out of town or cussed out by a bunch of drunks. We treat it as if it's ok and try to dream of being a power 5 school? It wouldn't be acceptable if we were playing Faulkner in an NAIA game here. I don't care if they grew up Auburn or Alabama fans either, take your RV's and head up 231 and don't come back! How many "degree holders only" do those two schools have? Not many. I get funny looks here in Auburn when I'm wearing my Troy ball cap. It was bad enough when the students at Troy used to act that way , bet more than a few still do. Like I said I'm probably the only Troy alum that grew up a die hard Emory and Henry fan because my dad is an alum. I wouldn't dream of ever wearing Emory and Henry gear at Troy. I keep that to the appropriate time. We need a campaign of "Auburn and Alabama eradication" on the campus.

Pike County has a small group of dedicated supporters, a larger group that are indifferent that want free tickets to the big games and a majority that are AU/AL/ Hate that the university is in town.
I went to Troy in part because I liked the location. There is a wonderful southern atmosphere in Troy. You will always have some sort of "Town vs Gown" issue at any college town in the US though. Ever seen the movie Breaking Away?

As it is their homecoming and they are doing relatively well, Troy could use a larger than usual contingent. Like to see how their new digs compare to ours, interesting they took over Turner field. That was a good move on GA State's part. The Panthers have the capability to be a player in the Sun Belt in the future. Plenty of talent in the backyard, decent facilities now, maybe larger budget to work with than us. Could be an emerging rivalry type game for Troy. I keep hearing we will win 52-10. Somebody here wants to see an old man try to do a cartwheel on you tube. Just have to avoid a Gordon Heyward type injury god forbid.

When we have a smaller percentage of hard core Trojans than the degree holders only, we have a ceiling. Heck we don't have the alumni/ fan base for more than the Sun Belt anyway. The whole FBS deck is stacked against schools the likes of Troy anyway. Why do you think the LSU's of the world pay us the sums of money they do? Trust me beating them was a great achievement that brought tears of joy to this old Trojan and my family. We just can't do that on a regular basis.

I grew up as one of the kids that played on the old grass hill in the south end zone during the NAIA days. My late Father was the first broadcaster for the Trojans. I’ve watched the program grow. Eventually got my degree from Troy. Then one day I sat down in my seat in the stands and watched my school beat a ranked FBS school in Troy on national TV. It’s been a long and fun ride on the climb up. We are the only program that I know of that made the jump all the way to FBS from NAIA. Troy really epitomizes what hard work and dedication can result in. It’s really a special place. The LSU win was just a start to what we can become. I was as pleased as anyone that we beat LSU. It was a monumental achievement to win what LSU looked at as a glorified scrimmage. But to think we could do that on a consistent basis is a little far fetched. I've seen Troy football from DII all the way up. Been there done that got multiple T shirts. We fit in the Sun Belt. Troy could find a spot in C-USA but we'd probably be middle of the pack. The resources and fan base are "is what it is" We have trouble enough getting alums to not be Alabama and Auburn fans. Like I said, I would bet there are more Troy alums in Tuscaloosa than Atlanta this weekend? These people might hold a degree but they aren't Troy Trojans. That will never change. The shame is on them. I would even be ok with us going back to FCS. We could win a title/ titles at that level. Not saying we should drop just saying it wouldn't bother me if we did. As long as we get good kids who want a quality education and the chance to play at a school that wants to win games at whatever level we are at that is fulfilling the mission of our university and athletic department as far as I'm concerned. We are FBS now. I know we did this for increased revenue and exposure. That is all well and good. I am ambivalent about the level we play our sports at. Lots of fine academic schools play FCS or lower division sports. Until there is a playoff system that works for all in FBS we should not try to compete with power 5 schools. If Troy had went 12-0 this year with an LSU win , we still wind up in the Camellia or similar bowl game. I enjoy going to Troy games. I root for my team regardless. I could care less if we are thought of a a little school by the masses. I just get annoyed beyond belief when alums/ so called "fans" don't respect Troy. How many Auburn/ Alabama ball caps are worn in our stadium? To those people I say "go home". If you are in our facility wear our gear, show some respect and pride! If not don't show up. Whatever bowl game we wind up at is my Rose bowl. It is all a matter of perspective. Like I said if we play LSU or Faulkner I get as much enjoyment out of Troy sports.
