2014 CFN Preview - Troy Trojans
Troy RB Brandon Burks
"Eventually, this is going to work again. Troy has been a powerhouse in the Sun Belt under longtime head coach Larry Blakeney, but it’s been a little while. Arkansas State and Louisiana-Lafayette have taken on a bigger role in the conference just as Troy started to slip, but last year there were signs of turning things back around after a few down seasons. While going 6-6 might not be the program’s idea of success after so many great years in the early to mid-2000s, it was a pull up out of the nosedive of two straight losing campaigns..." I can't help but wonder how many of our alumni don't feel they can give $100-$500 annually to Troy athletics because they already spend that much on UAT/AU shirts, hats, magnets, stickers, tags, etc?

Sadly, most "Troy fans" mentality is predictble:
They will "support" Troy if, and only if, they win; and if, and only if, UAT or AU is not playing; and if, and only if, it's not raining; and if, and only if, it's on a Saturday; and if, and only if, they get free tickets; and if, and only if, they get free stuff for their donations; and if, and only if, the recruit from their area; and if, and only if, there is not too much cheering, standing, or exertion required.
But in reality, the support these "fans" give is fleeting and superficial. We have played home games against Sun Belt foes that were basically a conference title game... and few showed up. If it ain't against the mighty SEC, they just aren't interested.

Well, I am certainly not hoping for a conference of bottom feeders and cellar dwellers. Using your logic, we should never wish for a better conference with successful teams. It would just be too difficult to recruit.

If we are going to have a National title from our conference then I hope it's Troy. I could care less what the swamp people from Louisiana do. There success makes us look worse..jmo. Well sure, if I had the choice between a natty for us or them... I would certainly choose Troy. But that just ain't possible this year. I don't agree that their success makes us or any SBC team look worse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gotta pull for our conference to improve its brand. I would love for ULL to win it all. As a conference, I don't think we have many D-1 national titles, if any, in the "revenue generating sports."
Our conference getting better as a whole will help us IF we choose to implement sound strategies and truly invest in improving.

Falcons' Massaquoi utilizing versatility in defense's varied scheme
(Pic by Dale Zanine / USA TODAY Sports) Article by John Manasso, FOX Sports South "...As they continue to pledge to use multiple fronts, one of the most noticeable changes during OTAs is the move of 6-foot-5, 264-pound defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi, a former fifth-round pick who is entering his third pro season, to outside linebacker in the 3-4 scheme. Massaqoui, who has worked with the first-team defense during OTAs, had four sacks last season..."
