After the Idaho game we moved to 57 in the country for total defense. The question is can we improve and get better after allowing our defensive middle to get exposed on 5 to 6 plays by the QB. Coach Vic and Coach Bama has done a great job bring them along, but yes there is room for improvement up front. Tyler Roberts is doing a great job leading and with the help from Stadom, Lebbie and Dillard they are holding down the outside edge. As for the middle I think the move I would make to is to move Gosha to NG due to he is the best we have to handle the double team and getting off blocks and allow Calloway to handle DT spot due to his speed and his get off of the ball. With a few adjustments in the middle and with our D backs, Troy could very well have the most improved defense in the country and could ranked in the top 30 or even better.

Travon Sanders is a True Freshman that was recruited in the class of 2015 This is a huge plus because I can't remember the last interior DL other than DE playing right away. Calloway as a True Freshman played in all 12 games last year as a DT. He backed up Lonnie Goshen.

Trevon Sanders? Was he a hs signee last year. I don't remember the name. I know Crumite had been a UAB signee. Great to see young guys playing, no substitute for game experience down the road Travon Sanders is a True Freshman that was recruited in the class of 2015

The future looks bright for the Troy Trojans and if Coach Brown and his assistant coaches continue to work hard the program will be back on top. The list below is the players that I think have had a good impact this year as Freshmen and Sophomores and will continue to grow as players.
Offense: John Johnson- Sophomore WR-10 catches for 120 Yards Emanuel Thomas- Sophomore WR- 4 catches for 33 Yards Deondre Douglas- Freshman WR- 4 catches for 44 yards Andre Flakes- Sophomore RB- 4 att for 97 Yards Brandon Silvers- Sophomore QB- 71-114- 3 Deontae Crumitie- Freshman OL- started all 4 games
Defense: Jamal Stadom- Sophomore DE- 17 tackles Trevon Sanders- Freshman NG- 11 tackles Seth Calloway- Sophomore DT/DE- 10 tackles Jalen Harris- Sophomore CB- 14 tackles AJ Smiley- Freshman S- 8 tackles Sam Lebbie- Sophomore DE- 4 tackles
Kicker: Bratcher Underwood- RS Freshman K- 2 kicks for a total of 130 Yards
This is the future, so as former players, parents and fans lets work as a team to help rebuild the wall off the field to support our Troy Trojans and their effort to be great.

Agree 6-6 will be a GREAT season By what standard are we using when we say 6-6 would be great? I've seen several people say the same thing and I don't get that... 12-0 would be a ok number by me

Actually getting ready to win is what it's all about. There wasn't nothing fun about the 3 a day practices we had but it won us a Nat Championship. Nothing wrong with some fun but your there to work, not play games. Add "no smiling or enjoying yourself" to the long list of things TroyStet is against. Official list of things TroyStet hates: (as of 8/19/15)Taking helmet's off Long hair Rap music New uniforms The spread offense Recruiting local players Freedom Capitalism Miss Judy's breakfast casserole Dual threat QBs Smiling and enjoying yourself It's all about Team Building and working to have a winning attitude and if hitting a softball is working then I am behind Coach Brown 100% When it comes to local player that has or will make a impact, I can give you 8 names ( John Johnson, Kamryn Melton, Emanuel Thomas, KD Edenfield, Jalen Harris, Brandon Burks, Clark Quiseberry and Seth Calloway) that you will hear all year.

The players love the new helmets and uniforms and if they feel better about them, then I would say that is what counts. "Its T Time"

If any of them have hands like Tyler, we're in pretty good shape. He discards LTs like nobody's business. I think this is a good direction though, to go back to playing one gap. We just get gutted from reads and attempting to play 2 gaps. With the size of the DTs, I think we should be able to occupy some blockers and get the LBs some more opportunities. [br Lonnie should be ok inside at DT or NG, they just need to find that one player for the other inside spot. Not sure that will happen this year. If it was me and I understand I have about as much say in it as this chair I'm setting in, I would put Lonnie at NG and find me someone with good speed and good rushing ability to put at the DT spot.

With the change from reads up from to gap assignments, the stunts and twists will allow the DL to pin their ears back and go. It should be a night and day change. I understand the whole pin your ears back and go, I coached D-line for years and at any level if the two inside players don't have good hands, good hips, speed and their footwork is not the best you will get beat in the middle. I wish them the best of luck but I hope Coach Brown and the D coaches work this out.

I love the recruiting efforts being made by this staff and they are covering all areas thank goodness! The head coach is actually recruiting. I love Larry but in his later years he recruited more fried chicken to his plate at the Sisters Buffet than he did on field talent. This staff is doing great! Its a new day but will take time. Disagree with the statement about not recruiting on the field talent. Troy has recruited great talent in the past, we coming up short when it came to the coaching staff and the ability coach the young men up.

After half of the spring over with and setting for three hours looking out at both the offense and defense. The offense looks like they can complete this up coming season. With that said our defense needs help on the line. From what I am seeing Goshen has not been at practice but two or three times this Spring. Slater looks good and we will have Roberts coming back , but D tackle look bad. We really need help in that area. Hope it gets better
