Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association is probably the fastest growing sport on the high school level in Alabama. We have had a team at the school I am currently at for about three or four years. Unfortunately it is NOT an AHSAA Sport (probably due to liability).

How many per team? Do you have a better chance of making the team if you have a bass boat? I'm really intrigued.

I know they have competed all over the state; Guntersville, Weiss, Lay, Eufaula, etc. This link might answer a lot of your questions: ASABFA Facebook Page
I do know that an adult has to be in every boat and they raise all of their funding through donations from individuals and companies in the area. Most events are multiple days and on the weekends.

Back in October a few people were interested in the announcement about Troy's Bass Team. I thought I would share (in case Troy needs to recruit) how the guys are doing at my current school:
Our eight anglers had their first spring tournament on Saturday at Lake Martin, and they rocked the competition placing THIRD overall (out of 380 other anglers in really cold and windy weather). Remember the guys fish in pairs, one boat placed 1st, another 7th, and the other two boats placed in the top 20!
Our team is only four years old and is already known around the state as a tough team. This was our second consecutive tournament this year to have a boat place first and our fourth top ten finish.
