I hope we were compensated for our flexibility.

Not sure how much more hero worship I could heap upon him through many different forms of media. I was behind Brent Jones and the then AD in security at the MGM airport a week before the CL announcement and loudly encouraged him to go after Jon then. So any attempt to lump me in with others who may have been apprehensive about him can be stopped immediately.

She seems really happy at Troy. I'm confident Brent is doing what it takes to keep her around.

Jon is really special. And I think we could have him for longer than one more year. The lessons of XHCNB and Billy Napier loom large. Stringing together a few successful SBC seasons and then jumping at the first shiny thing doesn't always work out.

Looks like we picked up Iowa transfer Reggie Bracy. The strong safety was the backup to All-American safety Kaevon Merriweather. Iowa was the #1 rated defense last season according to ESPN's S&P+. Looks like a good get overall. Another Mobile native chooses to play in the Wiregrass.

Jack Tchienchou, the CB out of Atlanta. Think he was one of higher ranked players and depth at that position is key. Was quite a ball carrier as well in high school. The highlight film shows he's got another gear he can shift in to.

I'll start: I think Landon Parker could be a game breaker for us. We need a lot of help at WR with RaJae and Tez gone and this guy, I believe, could help fill that RaJae spot. Tall, athletic, and intelligent. And he might even punt for us and/or return kicks. While it's hard to surpass the hype from a guy nicknamed "Suga Wolf", this is the recruit I'm most excited about.
What about y'all?

Just imagine if Jon gave us 5 years. That roster in year 5 would look like the Monstars from Space Jam.

We'll be missing that 5'8' Linebacker fo sho! I couldn't agree more. Carlton was a generational talent for Troy and I don't know when we'll see his equal, if ever. But it's obvious that Jon and Co. prefer taller guys all over the field (although as you said, they'd take as many Martials as they could sign).

Just took a gander at the current 2023 class. Anyone else notice only 2 players measure under 6 feet?

Smoke would have been a huge get for us. Alas, can't win em all.
An interesting story line to watch in the upcoming season: CU's admissions department has fully signed on to the Prime Time program and a lot of guys are sneaking into CU through the locker room door (not saying Smoke is, he could be a rhodes scholar). However, having a pretty big rooting interest in CU myself for the last decade and getting to know the school and program, the faculty will not be inclined to provide any special assistance for these guys if they begin to fall behind. I'm not rooting for this by any means, but watch CU's roster after midterms. Many of these guys are coming from very different academic backgrounds than what they will find at the Harvard of the Rockies.

The transfer from Oklahoma State looks promising. It seems this coaching staff wants to be able to enact platoon subs for the the o line.

That Monroe game at their place is always an anxiety inducing affair. They always play us tough, especially down in the duck pond or whatever they call their "stadium".

That team was exposed in their bowl game. Every staff on their schedule will see how poorly their coaches prepared and adjusted to tempo. I wouldn’t pencil them in as elite yet. No one will be cheering harder for me to be wrong than me. I'm a little nervous about some of the predictions I'm seeing for next season on here. I hope expectations cool a bit between now and September.

That school in Mobile beating us next season would not be an upset. They will be favored in that game barring some huge roster changes between now and then. I don't like it anymore than the next guy, but they are poised to be very good next year.

Not to burst anyone’s bubble but IMO trying to show you’re “the best” in the state by building yourself up while putting others down is not the best approach. Sure, you may get the views and tick some fans off but don’t toot your own horn. Let others do that! Enjoy the 12 win season without having to poke others in the eye. Besides, when you can’t sell out your own stadium for a championship game, that’s pretty embarrassing. I say that as a Troy graduate. Until MANY Troy alumni get more excited about their team and a championship game rather than what’s going on at the two power schools in the state, I think things should be kept in perspective. BTW, I know I’m going to catch a lot of flak from this post. So...let me get this straight...by pointing out that we had the most wins, that is putting down the other teams? Should Auburn feel great about their season? College football is a meritocracy. No participation trophies. Attendance at the SBC was fairly good given the way the tickets and everything were administered. You know what's pretty embarrassing? Not making your championship game and then getting mad because someone dared state how many wins they had.

Another fairly tough draw out of the East. Glad Georgia State is our East away game since it's such an easy trip.

I'm with you. If he's able to do it, what an advantage even to the travel roster to have your punter also play another position.

I'm curious how we are going to use Landon. Could we really see someone at the D-1A level serve as a receiver and punter? I'm excited by his highlight film for sure.

And remind all your SBC friends that the Belt is 1-0 against ranked opponents this bowl season. It will fill them with pride and then anger them deeply. hahaha

Brave move picking the Miracle on the Mountain but I agree with you. It seemed to gel our team together in a way that a close win over App that day wouldn't have. Nicely done.
Also enjoyed the Dell Pettus pick at 13. Sat behind his parents at the bowl game who were nervous wrecks. I hope they were proud of the amazing effort their son gave out there. He was everywhere.
