Smith getting more comfortable and productive, it seems like it’s his job to lose now. His deep balls are outstanding. Barker is somewhat more accurate though. The QB battle next year is going to be ridiculous! Both deserve to start. However, I think if Smith continues to produce and keeps improving like this, he will be our starter next season. You cannot just take it away from him... Don’t forget the other guys who will be on campus and competing. We will have a great problem on our hands with all that talent.

1. Please stop giving the GATA folks oxygen. They will only reply if you do. It’s littering the board and very old. There seem to be 10 threads with the same stupidity in them. 2. Can someone that was in attendance grade the game, as is often done? I wasn’t able to watch or attend. 3. After the game assessment above, can we please move to the next game? There is nothing to be gained from chatting with GATA geeks. I was there (been to every game but Nebraska). My opinions and a couple bucks will get you a McRib, but here you go: 1. Offense: B+ We looked pretty good. They stuffed the run and doubled up Willis but Sawyer found ways to move the ball (including involving number 83 who is like having an aggressive polar bear playing wide receiver). That long drive in the fourth was impressive and sealed the game. 2. Defense: A For the team we played, we looked amazing. Other than some running back passes at the start of the game, we controlled big plays and the line of scrimmage. In the fourth quarter i felt like i was 15 again and bagging groceries at Winn Dixie #SackCity 3. Special Teams: C- Kickoffs and punts were actually great and flipped the field/kept them starting behind the 25 most of the time. Left 6 points on the board though. I’m still confident in Sump. 4. Coaching: A+ No one on this board wants to admit this, but CNB is coaching to the team he has. Calling timeouts to build up the lead before the half, getting aggressive in the 3rd, milking that clock like a Wisconsin heffer in the fourth quarter. 5. Atmosphere: A+++ The Troy contingent was standing, cheering, and behind this team from pregame to postgame. If i could get this section with me at each home game, we’d win. Period. Great game overall. I found many of their fans to be representative of what we’ve seen on this board. At halftime, more than one told me to “stop smiling” and reminding me how often they come back from 3 points down and more. However, most were kind and what I’ve come to expect from Belt Brethren.

I am pleased with the W. I do however hope to never see a drive again where BJ and Jabir and driving straight forward for 1st after 1st after 1st down and we say "Hey how bout we throw a dangerous toss sweep in the mix". Its weird and don't make sense. Sawyer is dialing it in. We are in the race for the East after losing a QB that had hit his stride and could have started for any team in the country at the time. The defense gave a Hot Louisiana team fits. Tron lit it up. They will be the key to not letting a one loss Southern or App team represent the East. DT is ready for 12:00pm Saturday and is entertaining the idea of making the trip. Who all is heading to Statesboro? 4 of us will be there! We had a good crowd last time and it was fun even though they pull the old Ark St trick and put visitors as far from the field as possible.

Sawyer grew leaps on bounds between Liberty and South. I expect we'll see an even better field general on Saturday. Marcus is a huge loss but I agree with the wise guys in the desert on this one, 10 point win for the good guys. What will really help is if we can get even a fraction of the folks in the stands to stop sitting on their hands and make some noise.

All the sudden GaSo is just a world beater. Let’s not litter the dirt roads of Statesboro with confetti just yet. GaSo has always been a good team. A few bad years because of bad coaching doesn't take that away, and they've owned us since they came into the conference. Even in their down years. It should be a good game when we go, and it's going to be just as tough as it's always been, especially if their secondary is as good as I've heard it is. 11-6 Troy all time. They’ve beaten us three times since they joined the Belt but look at the movement in those games: Neal’s 1st year - LBs players, embarrassing loss during a four win year Neal’s 2nd year - Mostly still not his talent or system, bad loss during a historically successful year. Neal’s 3rd year - NB’s folks are coming on board, four point heartbreak (i was there. That’s as much the refs victory as GaSo’s) Neal’s 4th year - Win All the sudden Troy fans are supposed to genuflect to Georgia Southern? No thanks.

Don't worry Georgia Southern if ranked will not pull a Troy/AppSt. All the sudden GaSo is just a world beater. Let’s not litter the dirt roads of Statesboro with confetti just yet.

CNB is refusing to make the mistakes that led to those final miserable CLB years. Proud to have him as our coach.

I'm predicting 9-3 regular season with a bowl win in Montgomery to get us to 10 wins.

My thoughts - whether right or wrong are this - I love Coach Brown and my observations mean little and I will support 2-10 as much as 10-2 All players in our program are Coach Browns now unless there are some red shirt holdovers due to injury, etc. Based on how we have recruited, the only losses this year based on talent should be to Boise, Nebraska & possibly APP Last year we lost to a South Alabama team we should beat and won against LSU, a team we "should" lose to These are Coach Browns players and all his. We should never lose to a team like Liberty, but we did and he owned it. Let's go play South and win! And I hope Big. See you in Mobile. I'm with you. I know this isn't easy to imagine right now (particularly for folks like me who traveled to Six Flags Over Jesus to watch us lose to Liberty), but it's possible that if the coaches install something completely different (as CNB alluded they might), we could be explosive on offensive in the first half.

Wanted to share some good news. The SGA has chartered 10 buses to take students to Mobile (more than last time we headed that way)! The challenge to alums/other fans: can we bring the noise the same way the students did last time? If we can get half of us to cheer half as loud as the students will, we will take over that stadium and our defense will be unstoppable. No golf claps on Tuesday, folks. NOISE!

See a lot of folks posting statements that inevitably leads them to speaking out of both sides of their mouth. It’s understandable, we all human, but it’s hypocritical. People have said they want Troy to be the elite program in the Group of 5, contend for playing in the New Year’s Day bowls, go undefeated, become the next Boise St or UCF. Now after losing to a basic FCS team, the same people say it’s ok, we can still win the Belt, it’s non conference, we always have a game or two we lay a complete egg and look foolish, there just kids, our town is too small. Just can’t have it both ways. It’s cool if you want to be the fan that wants Troy to rise to elite status, or the fan that just wants to win the Sunbelt, or the fan that just wants to go to the Montgomery Bowl every year, or the fan that just goes to the game because you like to stand in long concession lines. The fan tent is large and we need all of the types. As far as expectations, I agree. Fans of all sorts are needed. As far as fans that come to Troy games to sit on their hands and quietly wait for halftime, I think we've far out performed our quota. WE NEED SOME NOISE.

What do the people on this board expect every year? What do they expect from Coach Brown? If we deleted every comment that boiled down to "we always lose a game in the middle of the season" or "Coach needs to get it together", we could host this board on a myspace page. You know who loses a game in the middle of the season? Almost everyone. I know many of you expected us to beat Liberty. I didn't fly into Lynchburg because I thought I would watch us unravel. But I also didn't expect that we'd beat Nebraska. So of those two games, I thought we'd be 1-1. My bet is that most of you felt the same way. So now we are 1-1 in those two games, perfectly matching your expectations.
I get it, Liberty was a bad loss. But posting like this is the end of the world or that Neal should be in groveling pose until he presents us with a Sun Belt trophy is immature. A wise man named Larry once told a crowd I was in, "We need supporters. If you are a Trojan, be a Trojan. If not, get out of the way." We'll have 8 months starting in January to nitpick these games, let's spend this precious time doing the two things we should be best at: loving Troy and hating South.

Just in case anyone is unaware: There’s isn’t a player in this stadium that can defend Damion Willis. Feed him!

Guys, thrilled to have you coming our way on Saturday. The weather forecast keeps changing by the hour based on what Michael does in the next 24 hours. I doubt we sell out so there should be tickets available on game day. And in case you are wondering, we fully recognize our underdog role base don how awesome you folks have been this fall. Thanks! Ya'll have a heck of scrappy team and in my opinion, which isn't shared by many at A Sea of Red, a solid head coach. This will be a hard fought game for sure. Looking forward to seeing it and your campus. Any stadium regulations we should be aware of? Are ya'll on the clear bag policy at this point?

Their secondary has been an issue and seems to be the last area they have to fill with FBS level talent. If you believe the rumors that Barker will not be flying to VA (or anywhere else this season), Sawyer needs a lot of reps throwing the deep ball this week. Damion Willis is one of the most talented WRs I’ve ever seen in a Troy jersey and will be a weapon in this game. If he can touch the ball 9-12 times, we’ll be fine. They are 127th out of 130 teams in run defense. I have a feeling B.J. Smith is going to FEAST. We are bruised up but so are they (according to their HC's press conference). I think those holes on the running plays could become highways by the end of the game if play with good energy.

Keys to a Liberty win, according to their HC (Nebraska alum, lol) during his press conference: 1. No more than 1 out of every 20 plays for 20+ yards 2. Below 34% on 3rd down conversions (our current average) 3. 2 or fewer sacks on offense 4. Average 4 yards per carry on rush plays

Anyone else going to Statesboro? I can't make the rest of the home games due to work, but should be a good road trip 4 of us will be Statesboro. I hope to find the annoying fans who sat behind us last trip down talking smack even though they weren't even bowl eligible. Hate GaSo fans. Almost as much as UAB fans.

And....the ticket office is closed today. Can't say I blame them. Hoping everyone is safe, and thinking about my friends and family in the Florida Panhandle and in SE Alabama. Looks like my hometown will be taking a direct hit. I remember how bad Opal was, and how it was still pretty hairy riding the storm out with family all the way up in Selma. I wish more folks (including my parents) with the means to evacuate had done so. I think we've gotten complacent. Hopefully it's a dud. Thanks for the tip on Vivid seats. I guess I will have to chance it that I can sit with my fellow Trojans. If not, I'll just risk getting torn apart by a rabid mob of Flames fans. Thinking now that I'll rent a sportscar from Budget (always fun) and try to find a hotel under $100 in the area for Saturday night. I've never been anywhere near Lynchburg. At least they've got lots of free parking on campus. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! I am worried that the remnants of Michael might be coming through the area come game day, but I'm no weatherman. I'm in Valley Grande, just north of Selma, and I know several folks who have family in from the coast right now. Selma is happy to serve as sanctuary whenever possible! Good luck on the hotel. The only places I saw that were left were over in Madison Heights. Go Trojans!

How many of y'all are going to the game? I've had it circled all year! It will be my first Troy away game, not counting two Mobile bowl games. Any advice on how I should get tickets or where I should try to sit? I will probably drive down from DC and back in one day. I was really surprised to see how high the hotel prices were. Didn't figure they'd be a big football school but this may be the biggest home game they've ever had, right? Looking forward to it for sure. Tempted to go to the App State game too but Boone is a little bit longer of a drive. Three of us flying up. You probably need to call Troy Ticket Office tomorrow and ask about tickets. IF it is your first away game (outside of a bowl game) you need to experience it with other Trojans! If you go through Vivid seats it looks like they are selling some GA tickets for $9.00 and maybe you could sneak to the section filled with Cardinal, but given that we are the biggest home game they have this season and the stadium capacity is about 10k less than the Vet, that could be risky. Hope to see you there. My flight leaves at 5:30 a.m. on Friday. I wonder if Delta will mind applying my "On my way to see the Trojans play" magnet?
