Troy at Liberty somehow reminds me of our game vs Marshall, 15 years ago. www.espn.co.uk/college-football/recap?gameId=232702653As you know, Marshall was pretty good back then (think Boise State) and they were just coming of a huge win (at #6 Kansas St). This game was pretty huge for us and this was quite a big achievement. Now, we are "Marshall" going to "Troy"This is probably Liberty's biggest home game (ever). Beating a good FBS/G5 team used to be a big deal for us, now its expected. But its a big deal for them! Our team needs to be prepared (mentally) for this!

They beat Old Dominion (who beat ranked VT) and turned around and beat New Mexico the following week..... they will be UP for this game, we better treat it as a serious game

I was just over at A Sea of Red (their message board) and their fans are certainly excited for it. Now with the thought of #7 potentially not making the trip, I am VERY nervous about this game. I board a flight to Lynchburg at 5:45 a.m. on Friday to do my part but we've got to get up for this one.

It’s silly. If #7 plays, we smoke Liberty by 20+ points.

The absence of our starter is particularly scary because one of Liberty's biggest weaknesses is their secondary play. But, now we have some extra days to sure up another arm, perhaps? Gunnar Watson?

Hey guys! Liberty Fan here. Look forward to the game between our two schools. Just for clarification, we did have a loss away at Army and a blowout 40+ loss to North Texas in a crazy long game at home, due to weather. It was nice to beat UNM but having to turn around this week and go back to the elevation and heat in New Mexico to play NMSU, will be a test. We will be worn and you guys will be fresh, so a loss will more than likely be expected. I hope you all enjoy the game day atmosphere. My hopes for this game are that it's a great experience for the fans and players, no one gets injured, and the game is competitive. i.imgur.com/XmbIbh4.jpgi.imgur.com/6LPs8j2.jpg

My chiropractor was the QB for Liberty when they gave Troy their only loss in 1992. He did say he was running for his life in 1993 when Troy got its revenge. We have a wager on this game. I get a free adjustment if we win lol. Go Troy

So they lost to NMSU last night, but in a close game. Looking at the stats, because I haven't been able to watch the game yet, my impression is they have a good throwing game but a weak pass defense. They also gave up 5 sacks and had 2 turnovers. If the stats are an accurate representation of how they play, we have a better than average chance of containing then, but defense really needs to step up to stop the passing game. Kaleb and/or Sawyer could have a field day throwing in this game.

If you believe the rumors that Barker will not be flying to VA (or anywhere else this season), Sawyer needs a lot of reps throwing the deep ball this week. Damion Willis is one of the most talented WRs I’ve ever seen in a Troy jersey and will be a weapon in this game. If he can touch the ball 9-12 times, we’ll be fine.

They are 127th out of 130 teams in run defense. I have a feeling B.J. Smith is going to FEAST.

I think those holes on the running plays could become highways by the end of the game if play with good energy.
