Why call out the wealthy? Why not call out all Troy Alum that do not donate? Every $100 adds up. Clemsons donor plan was best when it started. IPTAY (I pay ten a year). Ten sounds like nothing for donor but when you get thousands of donors to just start it adds up. True facts!

Horrible news. I wish Tulane could stop stealing from Troy for just 5 minutes. If there was a way the university could actually be better at getting our wealthiest alumni to donate, we'd probably be able stop wealthier schools like Tulane from taking our people.
There are a lot of wealthy Troy alumni out there that just don't have any sort of connection with the university anymore, and certainly not with athletics.
Why call out the wealthy? Why not call out all Troy Alum that do not donate? Every $100 adds up.

If Coach Whitt gone......Troy University is in trouble. Coach Whitt was the Heart and Soul of the program. The 3rd Sunbelt Championship and a spot in the College Playoff, just went out the window. Thanks PJH and ADBJ for NOTHING. Xanax is your friend.

Troy doesn't have $2 million a year to give a head coach. Nothing about Jack Hawkins can change that. Troy's fundraising/donations/ticket sales have certainly increased... but our alumni giving amounts are still not significant compared to schools like Memphis and Tulane. We don't have any mega CEO's giving to Troy like they do. Even App State, as much as they love their football and want to win everything... they can't even afford $2 million a year. And I'm sure if they had big money, they would've done everything to keep Satterfield and Drink. Troy was at the top paying Jon in the Sun Belt. Top of the assistants salary pool as well. Troy can compete with most G5’s on that level. Outside of Tulane and a few other private schools Troy will compete. That TV money for the AAC changes soon.

And please quit giving Brent Jones credit. This was solely Jack Hawkins hire on the recommendation of Neal Brown. It may work, it may not. I am there to support, but some of these people claiming how good Jones is at making hires. Well we don't know the board hired Sumrall and Hawkins hired Parker and had outside help in choosing Meade because of the son-in-law fiasco. If Jack won't let Brent do his job, Brent should move on. 1 Is Jack a micro manager? Yes. Does he keep Brent from doing his job? No. If he did Brent would have left by now.

Does anyone know anything on if Whitt will be staying? He has been a vital part of the program's success. I would think he’s gone.

With a new head coach named, does anyone know if Coach Gas still runs the bowl game? Any insight on who stays or goes from the assistant coaches? Go Troy and See you in Birmingham. Coach Gas is still going to be the head coach for the bowl game.
Gerad Parker will not be coaching. He might be there to watch, but he won't coach.
As for assistants, I don't think many know who stays or goes... but seeing as Jon Sumrall hasn't actually hired any outsiders for his staff yet after nearly two weeks... I'd say it's a safe bet that most of our staff, at least the coordinators, are likely to be heading to Tulane after the bowl game is over.
It's possible there are a coaches that are left though. It appears Bam Hardmon (DL coach) may not go to Tulane, because Sumrall has retained Tulane's DL coach.
It's also possible that Gerad Parker offers someone like Taylor Polk the DC job, and Troy retains staff via promotion. It's hard to say really.
I don’t know if we can keep Polk, but if so that would be huge!!

Yes he’s been spewing that crap for years. Regardless it’s true you don’t tell a room for of donors that nonsense. For clarity sake, you have a valid point. My comment that follows was yours was being typed as you weee posting and ended up below yous. It was intended as sarcasm. No worries. I just think it sends a bad message when you use those terms. I would prefer something like: We have reached great accomplishments through the years on a limited budget. The only way to maintain and reach higher is to have all hands on deck and invested in Troy athletics. Blah blah. I’m not a speech writer, but you get the point.

JHawk also called Duke an ACC Power. nah bruh. But if you listen closely there was one line uttered by JHawk that spoke VOLUMES and one of the reasons why Sumrall wanted out of Troy. I'm guessing the "do more with less" line? That's our reality, I'm afraid. Yes he’s been spewing that crap for years. Regardless it’s true you don’t tell a room for of donors that nonsense.

What a special group of young men... They're a great group of guys..... cue Jaws music. I did NOT hear that, I heard, "A gritty group that is ready to get on that bus and go to Birmingham and take care of business" Yes sir. The man comes from a family that instilled hard work. Firm handshake. Nice short and sweet press conference. Almost like he has word to do.

I never said ADBJ did not fight to keep him, I know what they tried to do and ended up not being far from what he got at Tulane. But it is obvious JS wanted to go. The statement was get away from AD and Prez, and as you admit, ADBJ takes all his orders from CJH (the real problem). I know for a fact he was not happy with how his own hiring was handled, but knew he could win here and wanted this job bad if money was right, and he loved living in Troy. The Tulane job is a lateral move from a conference and competitive standpoint. One or two more years at Troy and he could have gotten a job that would at least be a 40% increase over what Tulane is paying. He interviewed at Miss St., and though I don't think he would have been MSU's choice, he told them he was not interested either, at $5M per year (I was in Starkville with some of the athletic department people a few days before their hiring) And it may not be ADBJ, but the administration as a whole, up to CJH, which I think is the more likely scenario. He gets promised a new indoor facility and is gone 48 hours later for a few dollars more.Don't be fooled. He wasn't promised a new indoor facility; Troy fans and future players were promised a facility. The announcement was that the university was making a COMMITTMENT of $10M but, unless the process to get thefacility built is different from any I've ever seen, no $$$ has yet been spent...no architectural plans, no site engineering, no bids let...nothing. Everyone on this board would have been ECSTATIC if we could have gotten 4-5 years out of JS. There is NO Way that the IPF will be completed in the next 2 years. JS was never going to hold a practice in that facility, and if he did, none of us would have been happy with the state of the program. Facts.

Because this in no way seems to be a hire we wanted, but instead a hire we made because there were no other options. My guess is the successful coaches we already have here were offered deals they didn't like or that were not enough to retain them.  It can't possibly be that we were not interested. How could this guy be on anyone's top....10 list. Or heck, top 20. It's totally a guess but it's all I have to go on. It absolutely, really does feel like Jan 11, 2019 all over again. It's a disheartening hire to me. View Attachment Prove me wrong, coach. I beg you.  Who did you have in your top 5. Granted not many had him on the list, but this does seem to be a legitimate search for a new head coach. Unlike the (The HC we don’t speak of)/ Charles Kelly crap.

He was teammates with Sumrall at UK. Not really sure what kind of HC he will be but he is a tremendous recruiter. People keep talking about his connection to ex HCNB, maybe this is the connection we should focus on. What if this conversation, or one similar, occurred: "Hey Brent, I know it doesn't feel like it right now, but I really do love Troy and want to see the football program grow and succeed. unless Troy is competing directly against the team I am coaching, either on the field, or for a recruit, or for a NY6 Bowl slot, I'll always be pulling for Troy to win. To that end, you should consider hiring Gerard Parker. I played with him at UK. He was a leader in the locker room, on the sidelines, and on the field. He has a fire, a drive, and a determination that rivals mine. He may not be a name on your list, but I'd encourage you to give him a look. He will continue what we built and will lead Troy well." If the above is true, I bet we will be happy with the results of this hire. Something tells me we ADBJ, nor CJH, nor anyone else involved with, or influencing, this decision pulled his hame out of a hat. I’m sure Jon and Neal were allowed to voice their opinions on several of the candidates.

look at the thread the energy. 11 stops in 15 years, DUI. He was basically gifted the OC job at ND cause Alabama shocked the world with the hiring of tommy Reese. Iâll be nervous cautious until he proves me other wise. But I think we could have kept Greg and been just fine The message board tone is irrelevant I was team Craddock from the get go. We will see. I will support unless he goes the (The HC we don’t speak of) route.

Then let them go. If Troy sinks then ADBJ will have to answer for that. If they leave and we win again then those coaches/players weren't as necessary as we thought. Who the heck knows Coach Parker might be the first to take us to a 12-0 FBS regular season. However maybe OCJC, DCGG, Lesley, etc. all interviewed and ADBJ and Hawkins still thought this guy was the better leader/candidate. look at his resume. I don’t care how a coach can sound In a job interview I look at results. Hopefully he gets an Uber discount in his contract to keep him from getting DUIs You think he might have made a mistake 7 years ago and learned from it?

For a lot of you and Trojan fans in general, this hire will be underwhelming and the question will be asked, “Why did this take so long then?” Saint will say it again, don’t get attached to these coaches. They are paid employees, here to do a job. If all of sudden their paycheck didn’t hit their bank account, they would not show up for work. Judge them on one thing, wins and losses. Spot on post.

I'm thinking that tomorrow there will be flights into KTOI that should show who the coach is. Unless he is already in town and came from Boca Raton earlier today. Seems to me, at least three of the candidates mentioned could easily drive to a presser on campus. Especially if they are already on campus.

This time of year in MLB can be as suspenseful as a tight pennant race as we watch the trade rumors and free agent signings. If you are into such things and are, as I am, a huge Braves fan, you know that the President of Baseball Operations (GM) for the Braves is Alex Anthopolous and he is known for, among other things, running a tight ship when it comes to leaks regarding team transactions. I'm not sure that leaking info regarding a trade or FA signing wouldn't get you fired. AA could take lessons on secrecy from ADBJ. There has been nothing, absolutely NOTHING, leaked about our coaching search. As much as the suspense is killing us all, that secrecy is probably a good thing. That said, I'm ready for it to go away and for us to know who the next leader of our TROJANS will be. Leaks typically come from the agents not within the university.
