We need to buy in. This is NOT a bad hire at all. If the fans buy in, the players buy in, the recruits buy in, and then their parents buy in. That's only going to help Troy sustain success. Gerad Parker is another LEADER. Very similar to Jon Sumrall and Neal Brown. He's definitely not another (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of)/bald menace. Just look up his interviews on YouTube. He's a smart guy that knows his stuff and is a definite leader and motivator. And he is apparently a phenomenal recruiter. DON'T LISTEN TO NOTRE DAME FANS. THEY DIDN'T LIKE HIS OFFENSIVE STYLE, despite the incredible success they had offensively this year. Trust that Brent Jones knew what he was doing! He's got a proven track record that we can't deny.

All hires are a roll of the dice. I’m always all in for Troy, just not for any coach who will leave the program I love sooner than later. No way anyone can guarantee as you state whether or not this is a good or questionable hire. My thoughts: hey Coach Parker, go do your damn job and bring home championships.

Saint, we stand in the shadow of two premier P5 programs. We struggle to fill The Vet. We have no choice but to moneyball the S out of our coaching hires. This is our life now. If changing coaches every year or two happens but championships also happen, then we are good.
I'm just going to throw this out there so everyone understands it:
Everybody in here knows nobody can hold Blakeney's jock. #Troyfan #hottakeoftheweek

As I mentioned in a previous post, We have to live in our neighborhood. Some folks didn’t get that when JS left.

They have a polar opposite strategy from us. They hired Cignetti from D2 ranks and their new HC won as both a D3 and FCS HC. Cignetti was also one of the lower paid coaches in the Sun Belt. Also curious if we hired our new HC for $850,000 again

If you must know what he makes, just give it a few days.
His contract is public record as he is a state employee.
Y’all need to chill about the money for just a little while.

I like this hire! You want to know why? No one saw it coming! It’s an out of the box hire, and not a good old boy Alabama/Auburn “who they got that we can hire.” Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m still thankful that it wasn’t some of the names floating around. I like this guy’s personality to boot!

I don’t mind the Neal Brown tree, it’s been good so far!

I am there to support, but some of these people claiming how good Jones is at making hires. Well we don't know the board hired Sumrall and Hawkins hired Parker and had outside help in choosing Meade because of the son-in-law fiasco.

Again in another thread I would like to know if you are connected in an insider way so that your knowledge is accurate. Plus, reliable and worthy of seeking out in the future.

Oh, if you are not an insider or married to an insider or connected to the private communications of this hire, when did Brent fire you or run over your dog?

Good luck to CGP and I pray he continue what CJS built. However, we could have kept CJS if they wanted too.
He asked them to get his salary around 2 million a year for 6 years and they came up with 1.3 million for 4 years.
The rest is history. Our coordinators have been offered other jobs and we will see how that goes after the bowl games.
The great unknown, we all knew what to expect from CJS.......now we in a wait and see moment.
Go Troy and beat Duke.

It was hard to accept at first but I know Troy isn't ever going to be able to spend big like that. Maybe we will get to where we can offer $2M salaries to coaches and compete with other AAC and MWC schools salaries.

Don't you know that's at least 3 more deer for Mrs. Dear Leader's park? If Jack can pinch a penny he'll split it in two and claim he's got a nickel.

Troy doesn't have $2 million a year to give a head coach. Nothing about Jack Hawkins can change that.
Troy's fundraising/donations/ticket sales have certainly increased... but our alumni giving amounts are still not significant compared to schools like Memphis and Tulane. We don't have any mega CEO's giving to Troy like they do.
Even App State, as much as they love their football and want to win everything... they can't even afford $2 million a year. And I'm sure if they had big money, they would've done everything to keep Satterfield and Drinkwitz.

Troy can compete with most G5’s on that level. Outside of Tulane and a few other private schools Troy will compete. That TV money for the AAC changes soon.
