Well, the game looked like it was going according to plan for the first 8 innings and in the end we got the win. If these guys just keep grinding we have a chance to make something great happen. Hate we had to use Skinner up last night, but you have to win the first one. Pitching was great. We stranded too many guys early and it almost cost us the game. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Leaving men on base has been an issue all season. I have lost track of how many times we have had bases loaded and failed to score a run. We seem to be so close yet just not quite able to pull it together. Maybe this tournament is our time.

Troy's two victories over So Ala allowed us to move into 6th in the conference. Looks like we have a winnable bracket. We played Ark St close all three games when we last met, taking the opener of that series.getting past them, we play the winner of So Ala and UT Arlington and have played both of them well also, taking the second game in the three games series played against each of them. Can't wait for Wednesday! Go Trojans!

Wow, back to back wins and TROY is right back in the hunt for a tournament spot.
How fitting that , even after they stole a victory from us in Mobile by manipulating the rain delay rule we can still get get into the tourney by going through them.
Go Trojans beat the Jags !

I think Idaho and New Mexico are subsidizing the travel to their stadiums. If UMAS was willing to do the same then it could be A win win and allow us to have a championship game and more revenue for the conference as a whole. Because it would be football only there would only be one trip required every two or four years per current Sunbelt member .

Any word on whether they will serve beer at the Vet this season? How has it worked out at the baseball games? Well, they served beer at the spring game and I didn't see any problems, so that may be a strong indicator that you will see it in the fall.

What a great start for our Trojans!
Adam Prendergast Apr. 14, 2014 Golf (W) Live Scoring | First Round Results LOXLEY, Ala. – Paced by three top 10 individual rounds, the Troy women's golf team holds a seven-stroke lead over the field following the opening day of the Sun Belt Conference Championships, which got underway Monday at the Steelwood Country Club. "You can't win it on day one, but you can put yourself in a position to win and that's what we did," head coach Bart Barnes said. "I'm very pleased that we put our best foot forward to get ourselves in this position. It's always good to see players step up on a big stage and we finished very strong. "They had a moment together after the round where they were pleased and enjoyed what they accomplished, but that was short lived as they went back to the driving range and to the putting green to practice," Barnes said. "Our goal is to win each round and tomorrow we will go out and it will be 0-0 across the board."
Freshman Fátima Fernández Cano is tied with UALR's Sofia Berglund for the individual lead at 2-under, while Brooke Spinks is tied for third following a 1-over round and Taylor McGraw sits in seventh at 2-over. The Trojans shot a 5-over 293 as a team, which is the fourth best round in Troy's Division I history and the third best round by the team this season. Troy carded a 287 in the opening tournament of the fall and shot a 291 at the Kiawah Island Classic back on March 2. Texas State sits in second place seven shots behind Troy followed by South Alabama and UALR in a tie for third 11 strokes off the pace, while Georgia State is in fifth and 19 shots behind Troy. Cano opened the day with birdies on No. 2 and No. 5 to quickly go 2-under. However, bogeys on No. 7 and No. 8 left her with an even 36 on the front nine. The Spain native then played a clean back nine with the exception of birdies on No. 11 and No. 15 to finish with her best round of the season. "She is a heck of a player," Barnes said. "We talked before the tournament about having a game plan and sticking to it regardless of the situation. To not change her plan if she bogeyed a couple of holes and just play the course the way it was designed. To see her play emotionally steady throughout the round was very pleasing." Spinks teetered with an under-par round all day before finishing with a 1-over 73. She opened with a birdie on No. 1 and, following back-to-back bogeys, leveled her score with a birdie on No. 5. After birdies on No. 10 and No. 13, Spinks sat 1-under for the day, but bogeys on No. 15 and No. 18 pushed her 1-over par. McGraw finished strong as she shot a 2-under 34 on the back nine to recover for a 4-over 40 to start her day. She birdied No. 10 and chipped in on No. 18 to close out her round at 2-over 74. Langley Vannoy also ended her day on an upswing as she birdied two of her final four holes to finish the day 4-over and tied for 12th place. Becca Horner birdied No. 9 and No. 18 and finished her opening round 7-over and tied for 21st place. The Trojans will tee off in the final group in Tuesday's second round beginning at 9:25 a.m. The Sun Belt Championship will conclude with 18 holes on Wednesday. Team Standings: 1. Troy 293, 2. Texas State 300, T3. South Alabama 304, T3. UALR 304, 5. Georgia State 312, T6. Western Kentucky 316, T6. ULM 316, 8. Arkansas State 318 Individual Leaders T1. Fátima Fernández Cano (Troy) 70, T1. Sofia Berglund (UALR) 70, T3. Brooke Spinks (Troy) 73, T3. Maci Arrington (Arkansas State) 73, T3. Mara Puisite (Texas State) 73, T3. Ashleigh Ryals (South Alabama) 73 Troy Individuals T1. I am not much of a basketball fan but it looks to me the Troy has a fair defense but is really struggling offensively. I know the score is lopsided but I am trying .tlo find something positive here.

Is it too early to start talking baseball? How is this year's team shaping up? we had terrific defense in the infield last year with a lot of power from a number of positions last year, how have we reloaded for this year? who will step up on the pitching staff as our Friday starter? What about the closer from the bullpen?

Thanks, but I really had it all wrong.... It was Deon that threw for two TDs and Eric scored one. Oh, and TS scored 4 more points than I thought they would... Happy for the victory!

What a needed change for Troy. Having stayed there in '77-78 I thought it was rough back then.

Perhaps I should be pleased with the play of the defense in the second half, perhaps I should be happy with some of the skill players and their great runs and catches and maybe I should be surprised that we hung with the "class df the Sunbelt" as I saw it some articles, but I am so pi$$ed off at this point that we have to have a change in the offense coaching. I can't believe how many times we can run it up the middle on the goal line only to be rejected time and time again and then, predictably we throw it to ET. It is a wonder I didn't throw the remote into the TV. oh, by the way, no doubt Hudspit is on the 'roids, even had to show off for the cameras. Good thing they don't blood test the coaches. What a pr*ck.
