You do realize that Bolt wasn't the DC during that game, don't you? JR had a decent defense at the time. Several of those guys are playing at the next level. It would be great to see the defense improve, no matter who the DC is.

I defended JR's 05-08 (and in some ways 09) defenses to no end when people wanted to say how "garbage" rowell was. We regressed from 82th (rowell's last year, 27ppg) to 109th (Bolt's first year, 35ppg), but I'm not ready to throw the book at Bolt. We've got the talent to be really good this year. I for one am hoping for good things and still believe Bolt might be able to turn things around. I may not be the most football savy on this board when it comes to how the game is played, but there's not many people who follow the program as close as I do. I am well aware of who was on the coaching staff in 2009.

It's not easy coming from a little info to a lot of knowledge. Keep it coming with the numbers...

We got away from this attacking style of defense. A lot of it was very poor recruiting in replacing the talent we had. This defense had possibly the best LB's to ever play at Troy in Bear and Boris, plus a really good DL. We started that read crap upfront around 2010?? I like to see aggressive defense, attacking, blitzing, swarming the ball. Hope we get back to this. Defense still wins championships. Ask Seatle and ask Peyton Manning.

This horse has been best to death. We did suffer from poor recruiting results in some cases. Not poor recruiting effort. Conference improved and we stayed the same or even got worse. I think I'll have a beer.
