Before reading the article, I thought to myself "craft beer in Troy probably means Blue Moon and Sam Adams," but no, I must say that Flat Tire, Angry Orchard, etc., while definitely bigger names, are pretty legit as "craft beers" to most of us. I had a couple Flat Tires at a Tallahassee Beef O'Brady's while watching the Clemson-FSU game this past year. It's pretty good, but strange - it had a strong chocolate aftertaste. I'm no beer snob, but I do have a couple Facebook friends who keep me informed with a near constant stream of Instagram pics of their expensive bottles of beer (I've always thought taking pictures of stuff in public before you consume it is pretty pretentious, but whatever). Honestly, I don't drink very often, and, as far as beer, something like a Sam Adams is fine with me, though I'm not known to turn down the same watery swill (PBR, etc.) I used to drink as a Troy student.
I thought this article was about draft beer and sports events, but I think this is a good move for the city. Coming from the land of year-round-tourism and late night bars, I never really saw the harm in repealing all these old blue laws - as an underaged Troy student I heard of and saw plenty of dangerous behavior (as goes on at pretty much every university) and Sunday prohibition and no draft beer sure didn't make a dent in all of that. Then again, it is my hometown whose wild Spring Break bacchanals have been featured on cable news and Vice Magazine - not Troy. Although it could argued that most of those so featured are the sweet farmers' children from Houston County on up to the Upper Peninsula and over into Ontario.
So does this mean I can expect a draft beer at Santa Fe when I come to town the night before a big game? I don't really have any plans to drink on game day, and certainly not in the stadium, but a frothy beer at Santa Fe would be nice.

Fat Tire is probably one of the best beers on the market that isn't an IPA. Very smooth and very drinkable. We even have it on draft in the town I live in, with 1 traffic light. My wife, who doesn't drink beer, will actually drink one from time to time. My guess that when beer is introduced into other sporting venues it will be of the draft variety. You will in fact be able to have a beer at Santa Fe when you come to Troy in the Fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So glad that TROY is finally like every other college town in Alabama...
This should be great for Troy. Looking forward to having my first draft beer in Troy.

Hemi, IPA's really?
I thought you were more cultured than that... I thought for sure you were a dark beer kinda guy.
Just picking... I plan on bringing some home made beer to a tailgate or two this football season. Along with some "water"

Along with some "water" IPA's are one of those that grow on you each time you drink it and eventually you you love them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Any word on whether they will serve beer at the Vet this season? How has it worked out at the baseball games?

Any word on whether they will serve beer at the Vet this season? How has it worked out at the baseball games? Well, they served beer at the spring game and I didn't see any problems, so that may be a strong indicator that you will see it in the fall.

I've been at every home baseball game except one and haven't heard or seen any problems.
