let's get 1,000 to commit to 1,000 for 5 years for this project it can be set up to pay monthly or annually that's 5,000,000 over five years - this is doable - especially when we go bowling again this year outside of Clemson game, we are going to be fun to watch

Will be in it by July 2017... Not happening................... It's time to start over on this. Go bare bones. Start with something that can be built quickly and for a few million, that allows for easy expansion. Pay as you go at this point. If you don't start something you will start to have the money previously committed pull out. Start with building a nice locker room.

Getting real tired of throwing money towards something that's being handled as if we are D2 or lower.

i attended a former football players function today and we were shown a presentation on the end zone complex. They will start in June and hopefully we will be in it for the start of the 2017 season. What I can tell you for sure, it is awesome and hands down will be the nicest in the Sun Belt. Some of the features will be a mud room where players will put their pads into a ventilation bin that will help keep the locker room odor free, a 5,000 sq foot weight room with 60 yd turf track and a turf ramp to the second floor for conditioning, a players lounge with nutrition station, a walk through Ice tub, great locker room and no carpet and extensive use of Cardinal, silver and black throughout. It is first class and will be a recruiting Jewell Awesome! This will help in recruiting and may keep some coaches around a little bit longer. So IPF is next? We really need one! I was told today by a friend that the Chancellor told him we definitely would begin construction AT THE END OF THIS SEASON. That means not ready for 2017!

At the players reunion in the spring we get a video presentation and shown on the field where it is going. We also were told they break ground in June. Now we are hearing after the season. This has gotten to the point of you don't know what to believe. It's like you get excited and then they yank the rug out. I don't know what to believe anymore and it's gotten to the point where you can't believe what the university tells you.

He said they are starting a new building where Sartain is now so there's money somewhere. Oh well! We shall see!

So the end zone building could be ready for the Boise State game in 2018...
What kind of new building will replace Sartain btw? I am curious.

Academics and athletics are completely separate entities except when the academic side attempts to divert someone's gift to athleticis to their side of the pot.

Did I read in an earlier post it's gonna be a new Rec/Fitness Center? Honestly, that's a big need for us as well. I advise transfer students ... I've heard them talk about how other schools have the really nice fitness/rec areas (passed AUM's the other day). So, we for sure need the Endzone facility!!! But, I think a fitness center could help boost enrollment ... and higher enrollment is good for everyone: more tuition, more alums, more donors (hopefully!), etc.

Troy is doing a enrollment push and that is also needed. More students = more money. Recruiting students is like recruiting athletes, they want nice facilities...nice dorms, nice dining hall, nice fitness center, nice campus etc. My son just graduated from UCF and granted its the largest school in the country now but it has a fitness center about the size of our arena. It is two stories, had a indoor running track, free weights, machines, cargo, raquetball courts, fitness group classes etc. the school also has a student medical place, barbershop, credit union, and a huge student union. With the completion of the fitness center the only negative I can see on campus is Gardner and Hammil. Troy should be able to recruit students With that said, they better get on the football facilities. You want more students and school pride, win in football and this field house is 15 years over due. It's time to fish or cut bait. Stop telling us one thing and doing another

Why couldn't you design an end zone facility that included a fitness center? I agree with Ho that it seems like we could have designed and moved the gym to the stadium north end and made them become one facility to serve both needs.

Granted it's a larger school and in the SEC, the University of Kentucky is a model of enrollment push. The construction on that campus on both sides is amazing. Build it and they WILL come.

Sartain was already there so it seems cost effective. Plus it has parking and closer to campus and locker rooms already in it. Size is a concern but we will see.

Well, my point was if you need a fitness center and you have money for that could we not have incorporated it into the endzone facility. I was told they are tearing down Sartain so the fact that is THERE won't be correct for long. Parking? The same parking could work for both but I was told we will loose a lot of the parking at Sartain. All rumor on my part but trying to understand how we can build a fitness center, a magnificent gym and not figure out how to make one or both work in unison with the end zone project. All are athletic genre and seems logical that with some twerking could have served both thus adding funding! Didn't say it was the best direction but did say I thought it might be a doable direction. I'm tired of being put off on the end zone project!

They are currently letting bids and when I asked Coach Brown, he said the plan was for this to be ready in early 2018. A group of former players were shown the presentation during spring practice and we were told they would break ground in June and with no delays we could be in by the start of the 2017 season. I don't know what to believe anymore but I wish they could get facts together before telling people something and it not being correct. To safely say to be in it by the 2018 season we would need to see construction sometime between the end of this season and spring practice.

You can get an update at Football 101 and those of us who write a check to the university every single month don't receive any updates...ever! Does anyone else see a problem with this? I will always be in the stands cheering on my Trojans, but I'm done writing checks. Next month will be my last. Surf Report: The surf is up! It is running waist to rib high. The winds are coming out of the SSE at 7-9 mph causing for choppy conditions. High tide was at 6:03 am and low tide was at 3:09 pm. Surf should be up all day, but the winds are supposed to become stronger tomorrow. Go surf!

I share your frustrations on the lack of progress and the lack of communications about the the state of the project. I think there might be some reluctance to publicize any information on the project until it's absolutely 100% ready to go, due to previous mishandling of information. Luckily most of those in 101 are donors and this information wasn't passed out at the local town hall meeting.

I know of three different presentations given on the field house with three different dates given. 1) June start date with possibility of being in it by the start of 2017 season 2) July start with it being finished possibly after the 2017 season ended 3) 2018 season. my question is why, if they haven't even gotten bids on it would you tell former players and donors a start and completion date. I know the earlier mistakes were because Steve Dennis botched it but it seems like we are still making the same errors. With all the mistakes that have been made since 2011 it would seem like we can't make any more. I hope they get everything finalized before giving anymore presentations with start/finish dates. This field house is critical to the future success of Troy football. I hope we didn't tell recruits we were starting in June and they come to a game and nothing is even started.

I'm about ready to join the my last check band wagon. I'm tired of the amateurish way things are handled with the university as a whole. Still waiting on my phone call for being a continuous season ticket holder. It's amazing how quickly my phone rings when they can't process my Trojan Warrior contribution in any given month. There were things last year that were done very D2ish and I'm about tired of throwing money towards something and then feeling unappreciated.

I have been saying this is a problem at Troy since joining this board, even had some of the blind sunshine pumpers on here say I was crazy for it. Th Admin at Troy including the depts mentioned above are all ran like a backwoods hick town. There have been administrators and staff allowed to stay at their positions that were grossly not qualified for or were absolutely horrible at solely due because they didn't want Susie Q or Johnny T. to lose their jobs. Quote: " If we let them go they cannot get another job in Troy". So they are allowed to stay and perform sub-standard work. This mentality has failed us. And Hawkins has not properly funded needed departments. He has served his time, he needs to go. Troy has gotten stale, unimaginative and is always trying to "catch up" in the late stage of his tenure. So he bears responsibility to. Act small time, you will be small time. Sorry but this is just the truth. The facts bear this out. Communication from Troy with its alumni is just flat out terrible. My high school and it's alumni assocation frankly do more than Troy's does. Sad to say, but maybe withholding funds is the only way to get their attention for change. Does an alumni revolt need to start ?

Had the current design been done to start I fully believe it would be finished.
