does anyone know how long will they wait? Isn't the game already official after 4 1/2 innings?

One of the indicators I watch is the Bubba's Cup. We're doing better. I can remember when we were dead last. If you look at who wins it, it's not usually the #1 football team. I don't know of another measure that compares us to the rest of the Sun Belt in all sports, but it's the measure we have. South Alabama and Middle Tenn have dominated the top spot.

If Troy takes 2 of 3 from South we should definitely get a bid unless we lose the first two games in the tourney

Too bad. I think he would have had a better experience under Brees for a few years and then Brees retire. Don't think he will survive in Philly but I hope he does. Just my 2 cents

Both signed as free agents. Not as good as the draft, but at least they'll get their shot. I think Anderson should get picked up too but since he was the backup he's probably not on anyone's radar.

I don't follow softball very closely but any team that wins 30 games in a season is a good team and I expect Troy to do that.

I have a friend that is a Boise State fan. He told me that Boise got so tied up with getting on National TV that he felt they forgot their home crowd. Way too many games in the middle of the week, in a freezing stadium. They lost thousands of season ticket holders.
TV is good for the National exposure, but Mid-week night games don't do much for the home crowd. Unless your're powerful enough to dictate to ESPN, ESPN will dictate to you and they don't really care about the local fans that want a whole Saturday afternoon/evening of tailgating and football.

It seems like going independent could be a real option in the future, there are more schools going this route now (Liberty, UMass, NM St) + our long term conference TV deal is not that great (leaving the conference - we could make much more money by scheduling money games and use this money to invest in facilities and pay our coaches more) + playing maybe 3 name teams every year would also help recruiting and increase the likelihood of signature wins - payout equals 1.8M-1.9M per game nowadays (this is what Auburn agreed to pay USM more recently). Troy could make nearly +4M per year (or +12M in three years, etc) by playing a few more top SEC and ACC teams. Money wise, this would be like playing in the playoffs or in a major bowl game every other year. I don't think we should do it now or soon, but we should be prepared. The next re-alignment round will happen, and teams like USA and GA St might move on and even surpass us. Troy could be stuck in this conference for a long time...and it would be a different conference with different members and it wouldn't even resemble an "Elite FCS conference". Troy was an independent when we first moved to Div 1A. It was terrible. I could mention a lot of things wrong with that but the major ones are no conference championships, and no bowl games. If the G5 teams pull away from the P5 then the P5 would dominate and the G5 would be viewed as the former Div IAA was.

If we were able to count Sunderland stars and Louisville kids stars - where would this class rank in SBC and Nationally? Anybody know the formula? I do (paraphrased into ah why not guess they do) 1) Kid had a P5 offer him gives you 5xY+3z 2) kid watched Real ESPN housewives prior to age 13 ....gives you 4 points and a small squirrel 3) Another P5 program offers you 12.3 x's above number 1 equation. 4) If the kid is from Central or South Florida you get a bonus of two hookers and a Nike travel bag costs added to your total points. 5) If Lane Kiffin is recruiting you, you receive 2x's his wife's bust size divided by the number of times the ESPN announcers says that douches name in one season plus the weight of Lane Kiffin ego. 6) You pick the number of AP writers who actually think about a G5's actual accomplishments before casting their vote for the AP vote....so add 1 point 7) Add your aunts age plus yours and divide by 2 8) Add all the numbers above and count to 3 before listing your favorite nursery rhymes. Add another number bigger than 5 but less than 7. Add all the above and that is it. Oh yeah forgot to just put numbers on a board and throw a dart at it and which ever is lower if you are a G5 kid you get......unless from central or south Florida you automatically get 1.5 stars more because you are just better than any other part of humanity. This must not be a busy time of the year for you.

DuJaun Harris made it into the Pros and I didn't think he would. Chunn is a good, hard pounding, downhill runner. He can punish linebackers. If he could change directions a little quicker, and just had a little more speed, I think he'd be sought after. I think Chunn could be a free agent at least and be on somebody's roster. Running backs get injured a lot and it's nice to have a Chunn ready to play.
Free agency is not as easy for a quarterback. Once a team gets the one they like, they get the linemen to protect him and they tend to not get beat up so they stay longer. I don't think Silvers got a fair shake at the Senior Bowl. I would have let the headliners (Mayfield, et al) play a couple of drives to prove they can operate in a pro style offense and then put in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th guys and let them show what they can do too. I thought that was what the Senior Bowl was all about. I'd try to give all the players a decent amount of playing time and they didn't.

Everything is either racial, political or both now. As long as agitators make money from constantly stirring the pot, pointing out the bad, and ignoring the good, it won't end. The flag is not just a piece of cloth. I've folded a few and handed them to the next of kin. I've been with family as some have been handed to us. I've also put out thousands on graves. Is it your right to disrespect all it represents and the people who died to give you that right --- I'm not sure. To me it is sacred;

As a veteran we all gave some (as the song says) and way too many of my comrades died defending the nation that the flag represents. They returned with that flag covering their coffins. Some day it will cover mine. The very least I can do is stand and show my respect for them. Those @#$%^& need to pick a different symbol. Well, those people you are calling names may be Trojans as well. I'm not going to call out names but definitely saw some student athletes during the basketball game national anthem wearing their hats, goofing off. I think it'd be great to have people such as yourself speak to them about what it means to you. I'd be glad to!!

It looked like two different games. Troy was easily winning in the first half. In the second half Coastal came out much more aggressive, Troy seemed to play a little slower. Coastal was winning on both boards, inside, and just showed a lot more energy. It also seemed to me that the refs called a different game in the second half. Contact that wasn't called in the first half seemed to be called in the second. Hicks and Davis got several pushing or blocking fouls called when the contact was initiated by the Coastal player. I think that really made a difference because Hicks only played 11 minutes due to foul trouble. Without Hicks, Coastal was able to take control of the boards. Just my humble and normally accurate opinion

I saw where someone tweeted a couple of days ago that the early signing period was having an unanticipated consequence. The tweet read that some guys were signing with School A but asking them to not make that info public until February's date. This would mean that School B could unknowingly continue to recruit a signed athlete which is a violation of recruiting rules. If this is indeed the case, that loophole HAS to be closed....quickly. It's unfair to punish a school because some kid wants to play games and the school ends up recruiting him after he's signed elsewhere, without the knowledge of that signing having been made public. If the kid wants to play games and be dishonest then we shouldn't sign him.

Really? Have you been there? Best Tailgate I've seen EVER! Friendly fans, great camaraderie (until game starts and is finished) The game is almost secondary to being the most hospitable host in the Sun Belt. If you ever go, check out the Krewe de chew tailgate and make some friends. I stand by my comment! Then you might want to look at yourself. Everyone I know has a great time with the ULL tailgate.

Your right, lots of attractions in the Big Easy. If the city would really get behind this bowl it could be something special. I didn't see any signs riding around New Orleans about the bowl game (except at the stadium), but I saw plenty about the Sugar Bowl. I even met some folks from Dothan that came to see the Saints game and didn't even know Troy was playing. After a brief conversation they said they'd go.
However I stopped in Mobile on the way home and there were signs everywhere for the Dollar General Bowl. That might be why the DG bowl attracts a bigger crowd and a better TV time slot.
