The floor is cold and hard. Let’s put some mats down. They can sit around me. Those seats are comfy, won't interfere with anyone's view, and they can cheer from there.

Coach Parker's wife! I think she made about 7 in a row.

Troy women's basketball team is one of the last four in the NIT tournament which started with 48 teams. 44 have been eliminated! That's quite an accomplishment at any level in any tournament. They've earned our support; so let's be there Wednesday night to watch them beat a Big 10 opponent -- the Minnesota Golden Gohers

I think college has lost their compass. I think it started when Freshmen became eligible. I don't think NIL is a bad thing. Certainly if I use someone's NIL they deserve compensation. Anyone over the age of 18 should be able to negotiate contracts that pay the athlete for a service whatever they decide is just.
However, it has quickly evolved into pay for play and the richer schools can buy better talent than the less rich.
It used to be that the good coaches that stayed around built teams around their culture and expertise. They recruited players that fit their mold and coached them to develop the skills and attitudes necessary to be good people as well as good players. This took a few years and it required dedication by both the coaches and the student-athletes.
Good Athlete Directors built programs. They hired the coaches, build the facilities, romanced the alumni, gathered a fan base, and excited students. They maintained what they had and built better when they could. Athletics was the front porch of the institution.
I'm afraid we've lost a lot of that.

I'm not complaining because under Cross we've done better but I still wish we could get over the hump and make it to the big dance. So does Coach Cross

So it looks like both the men and women will get a double bye for the tournament and the women's first game will be Friday and the men's first game will be on Saturday. Am I reading that correct?

Don't know why they (GA State) like it. It doesn't add anything to the game.

The refs allowed way too much hard contact

We should play every school in the state! Troy, Jax State and UAB fans could easily drive to the games and I expect they would.

I think basketball is the toughest sport to get wins on the road, especially the Saturday game after a Thursday night game. Both our teams are doing great! Love to see two conference champions in Troy this year.

Troy has two really good basketball teams. The Men's team simply "out-hustles" the competition and the Ladies' out run them. If you haven't seen them in person, you're missing something special. They're just plain fun to watch.

It's a done deal. Alabama has the $$$ to pay Coordinators and assistant coaches more than head coaches make in the Sun Belt. Troy lost its head golf coach to Alabama to become a better paid assistant.

Very soon almost every elite/good player will enter the portal each year. They are all on one year contracts that expire in December and the portal is the special place where you go to renegotiate your contract. It’s so messed up but it is what it is! Certainly an opportunity for a whole bunch of new agents looking out for the players' best interests as they negotiate what's best for their clients

Wish list: Coastal at night on a Saturday in October or November. Georgia Southern after Thanksgiving so Savannah is decorated. The rest of the games are meh. Lafayette never a "Meh". NOLA without the smell! (or the crime!) Best Tailgating in the Sun Belt!

I wouldn’t want to raise my little children in New Orleans so hopefully that weighs into his decision. He didn’t have kids when he was there before. Yes but when you are making $3-4M a year you can afford the best private schools, tutors, chauffeurs, etc. Take at look a Washington DC. none of our government officials send their kids to the public schools.

I've been going to college football games for a very long time. Troy's band doesn't have anywhere near the showmanship the vast majority of college bands have. They run out play some music and then run off to the sidelines. Sometimes they do some formations but not many. The pregame is easily the worst in the Sun Belt. They make a "T" march down to the NEZ and stop. Then there's nothing for about 7-9 minutes. Day-00, De-Da-Da...... from the scoreboard is stupid and it doesn't even last. The dancers are either out of shape or out of step. Half the flag wavers can't seem to get that simple task right. Seems like the director or someone in the band could walk around tailgates of other universities, watch their halftime shows, watch Utube, or something and get some better ideas --- start with Ohio State then look how Auburn or Nebraska organize to march into the stadium.
There was a guy about 25 years that put on a show, I think his name was Robert Smith. He put on a halftime SHOW.
The best halftime show in the Sun Belt this year was Texas State! App State has an excellent pre-game.
The Pep band is so much more motivated is ridiculous. Ga Tech does a better job and they don't even have a formal music program

Higher earning alumni is good. An alumni where everyone contributes is great. Attracting alumni from other schools is fantastic.
