Troy’s men didn’t even garner an invite to the NIT ? Just how low was their power index rankings ? If that low for a 20 win team, was their schedule a paper tiger ? It’s been a few years since I knew the metrics but if my understanding is correct, either non-con was weak or Troy didn’t win any non-con games against any sort of decent teams ? Why no bid ?

You pretty much summed it up. We lost 4 non conference games (2 in OT, if my memory is correct) that would have vastly improved our chances of an NIT bid. We lost a close one to Oregon, a close one to Dayton, and OT lost AT HOME to to Sam Houston, and a gave against Ole Miss very early in the season, before we found our identity. The Dayton and Sam Houston losses pretty much killed our NIT hopes. Win those, and either of the other two and an NIT bid would have been automatic, in my opinion. If we can keep the team together (avoid NIL and transfer departures) we should be able to win those better OOC games next season.

It also doesn't help that we dropped 2 to Arkansas St. in the last 2 weeks of the season and got beat by Texas St. in the last game and bounced by them an 11 seed in the tournament.

That’s true, but the original question was about strength of schedule and quality of OOC wins. Our failure to make the NIT was multi factorial for sure.

Away games, we choked. Tx State, the better team end of season. Killed our conference chances.

Not surprising that don’t have your pulse on college athletics … It’s a 32-team field with 12 teams guaranteed from the P6 conferences.

It was a weak schedule, and the team didn't start playing well together until mid to late December... lost a lot of OOC games.
Troy needs to quit scheduling three non-D1 teams every year. I know it requires money to get other D1 schools to come to Troy, but geez... Troy isn't helping the Sun Belt raise its national profile with the way our schedule has been looking...

Maybe some of the increased “budgetary resources” will be used to strengthen the OOC home schedule.

I'll be cheering from the Grandest Valley in Alabama. Even paid my pound of flesh to FloSports (whatever that is) so I could see it. Lets go Troy!

Troy women's basketball team is one of the last four in the NIT tournament which started with 48 teams. 44 have been eliminated! That's quite an accomplishment at any level in any tournament. They've earned our support; so let's be there Wednesday night to watch them beat a Big 10 opponent -- the Minnesota Golden Gohers

Good for the ladies !
Should be 2,500 students in the arena causing havoc for the Gophers. Step up student body. Trust me, you have nothing better to do in Troy, AL.
