Ehhh.... Kicking a soccer ball and a football are not the same. If you gave Christiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi a football and told them to kick a 35-yarder they would even have a tough time getting it through the up rights and they're the best soccer players in the world. You don't see the NFL pulling guys away from the MLS to kick a few PATs for them when they're having kicking trouble...
But yes, you do see guys come up from Australia to punt these days, but that's because Australian Rules Football is a game is based around punting with a similar shaped ball so the skills do translate better into the American game.
Glad Jan Stenerud and Garo Yepremian didn't subscribe to your theory. We had a high school here who lost their kicker to the local private catholic school that recruits. They asked the soccer team for volunteers. Kid never played a down of football in his life and not only could place kick he could punt also. He kicked in college also That's a fair point. Jan Stenerud was the first true kicker in the HOF after all. Neil O'Donoghue was an All-American for Auburn in the 70s and had a similar story of coming to the US and switching from soccer to football too. It can be done, I don't doubt that, but that's not necessarily the story for many college kickers these days. Kids are transitioning from soccer to football earlier which has lead to kicking becoming very a specialized skill which has caused some kickers to stop playing soccer and solely focus on kicking.
But, to be honest, I couldn't care less who kicked or where he came from, at this point I just want someone who can make FGs and PATs.

With our large international student body, not one of these guys coming from overseas (where soccer is the only sport and every kids plays it) can be recruited to walk on and try out ? Ehhh.... Kicking a soccer ball and a football are not the same. What concerns me the most with Legassey right now is that almost all of his kicks aren't coming off his foot end-over-end, but are knuckling through the air like a dead duck. Kicks like that result from poor ball striking and bad technique.

I really liked the demeanor of Dakota Allen from the show. I understand that some people might feel differently because of his specific reasons for leaving Texas Tech though... He said during the show that TROY offered him, and I would've loved for him to come and play ball for CNB.

Is the church parking lot considered campus? Is the street curb where Alumni house is considered campus? Is the armory considered campus? Can Sodexho own a food truck? Lots of opportunity for somebody on Tailgate Terrace in my opinion. As a student who deals first-hand with Sodexo food everyday, you do not want a Sodexo food truck...

i do hate how he only highlights the one. favoritism has no place I completely agree... From first hand experience, Greeks aren't fond of the favoritism that the university shows towards one fraternity. I understand why though, they raise a LOT of money (around $40,000) when they do their big event in the Spring. It brings a great deal of positive publicity to Troy. But that doesn't take away the fact there are 17 other fraternities and sororities that also do a lot of good too.

I think Dr. Hawkins hits it just right. As a former member of the Greek system at Troy, there are a lot of good people who do a lot of good for the student body who are Greeks. Our Greek system pushes students to be actively involved on this campus. However, I do understand that there are some bad apples that will cause the general public to have a negative view of the Greek system, but at Troy, I do believe, there are very few "bad apples" in fraternities/sororities. Greeks get a long well with each other at Troy and don't necessarily cause a lot of trouble as compared to other schools in the state. I think the article is a very fair representation of the positives of what Greeks have done at Troy.

I thought the same thing. I'm excited to see what's in store for our volleyball program this upcoming season.

I guess it's time to start praying for miracles in Lafayette and San Marcos, because that's what we'll need for Ark. State to lose both ball games.

Whats with the Large INSTANT REPLAY banner on a replay? Is there anyone in the stadium that does not know thats a replay without having to be told? Whats up wit dat. It's probably the graphic ESPN3 put on their game broadcast. Almost everything that goes on the video screen is the same thing that people watching the game online are seeing (like the score bug in the bottom corner).

I hate everything about South. Ladd Peebles. Joey Jones. Their dumb Jaguar mascot. Their waterboys. I hate them all.

Very young team. I wonder if the inexperience is contributing to the issues. I don't know. Some of the freshman are producing more than the upperclassmen. Jordyn Saulsberry and Logan Page are leading the team in some stats categories.

I think the cardinal hats with the white shirts and cardinal pants looked great on the road, and I think the chrome-black-black combo was the best we've wore at home. I think all black everything would also look good at some point.

We go back to ULM and ULL in a couple days, this streak can keep going for a little while longer.

As a member of a fraternity on campus, I understand that a lot of the time a few (in this case a lot) of bad apples can spoil it for the whole bunch. I was glad that we had a full student section and we stayed for the whole game, however I am not proud of our actions a small portion of the Troy student body took Saturday. Will a change happen by the next game? Maybe. Those typical "frat jerks" will unfortunately still be "frat jerks." But I do believe that the majority of the Troy student body, both Greek and NonGreek will not behave in this manner in the games to come.

I just always wonder why they can't finish a match. They can play with almost anyone in the first two, but they seem to always come out flat going into the third. And the rest just goes downhill.

I sadly agree, Sonny is amazing, but they just can't seem to win. They play good in the first two sets, but then fall apart. I don't know enough volleyball to tell if it's players or coaching.

Regardless of how you feel about this rivalry, this is a pretty sweet trophy. Would've been a good idea for a conference championship trophy though.

The question is, if we win this "belt" who get's to wear it? The MVP? Neal? T-Roy the Mascot?

Would love to see a little cardinal on that helmet, but it still looks awesome. I'm in love with that stripe.

Coach Brown, welcome back. Please clean house. We do not need any hold over staff. If ever a program needed a completely clean and fresh start it is this one. I agree, new coach and new direction, needs a new supporting cast.

Moving on without CLB as soon as possible I see... What are we suppose to do? Just find it a little quick that strong reports for the next coach are coming out, just hours after the game. I mean, CLB is probably still partying in the Towers as we speak.
