I hope not but if it is - Congratulations to him. We are an overall better program and the pieces are in place and the foundation has been laid for a great future.

I haven't heard anything on it, but I'm sure he is generating interest from other schools.

Again - I hope it is not true - but next stop for our AD is Utah State - hate to see him go - he has been a good one that made some really tough decisions. I understand he has accepted the job - maybe he will think about it, call Utah State back and say no. Congratulations to him again!

What?!?
Utah state doesn't seem like that big of a step up. If at all.
I could see if he was leaving for a P5 job but Utah State?

Their Athletic Budget is 25million
Troys is 24.6 million

Their football and basketball programs are ahead of ours at this point. They also paid their previous AD a significantly larger amount than what Hartwell is making right now.
For all those people that were happy to see Maestri and Blakeney leave, and yes it was time for both, this will be the norm at Troy. If you find an AD or coach who is successful, then his or her time will be short and they will move up the ladder. If they stay 10 years without any offers to advance they probably were a less than stellar higher. Little ole Troy is in a big time battle these days. Be thankful for the Pierce, Blakeney, and Maestri's of Troy. Those types wil prove to be the exception. Pierce is the one that didn't hold on too long.

Every hire he's made has put TROY in a position to make post-season play. That includes football...I can't be mad with him. I'm pretty sure he's just getting out in front of the 'fire Hartwell' crowd...

If this is true I truly wish him the best!
He has certainly made Troy university a better place.

Let's be honest Utah State is a MUCH better job than Georgia State. And Troy is a much better job than Georgia State

To be fair, if he's leaving, he left TROY in better shape than it was when he arrived...

If this is true, congrats to John and his family. I consider him a friend and I'm very thankful for what he has done here. No question he is leaving (if rumors are true) Troy better than he found it and yes this is gonna be the norm if we are successful.... in all areas. I hope Brown, Cunningham and Rigby get calls soon. That means we are doing something right.

Interesting. A guy from Mobile, went to college in Charleston, did a lot of work at Ole Miss, becomes the AD at Troy. Seems like a perfect resume for a future AD at a Power 5 school in the South.
Utah State paying a little more, don't believe John was into chasing the nickel.
Something amiss.
