Very, very similar in personality to Sumrall.

Just out of curiosity what do you actually know about Joe? I admit I’m biased because he’s a Blue Raider and UAB guy that Sumrall hired with an unimpressive resume. From my limited interaction, he doesn’t seem to have much charisma and I question whether he could build excitement. Maybe I’m wrong, it just seems like we’d be settling. I whole heartedly disagree with this. Craddock isn't the same kind of personable that Jon is/was (he is much more of a shy type of personality) but he's a good dude and I don't think I could possibly disagree with the resume any more. He was the youngest OC in the country just a few years ago, his offenses at SMU were extremely explosive and he has Power 5 experience, too. I think his offense at Troy has also spoken for itself.

I will say I see one flaw in your plan. The friday press conference, unless it is late that day. We have commencement that day which would keep a lot of people occupied for majority of day until about 3 pm. GOOD catch!! I can wait until Monday as long as the guys on campus this weekend know what / who is coming No, you need to will Friday to happen. I have chemo on Monday and I'm pretty sure my doctor isn't going to okay me skipping it for a press conference lol

Craddock as Head coach. Brings in a play caller to follow what we’ve done the last two seasons. Polk as DC assuming Gas goes to Tulane. This pleases me.... unrelated note if anyone has a list of formations we have used under JC i would love to recreate the playbook in NCAA 14.. yes i am nerd hear me type This is something that would be fun to do but off the top of my head... I would venture to bet that Pistol out of 12 personnel and spread out of 10/11 would be by far the highest volume of formations.

Evan McCissick is coaching the OL for the bowl game. I don't know what the deal with Bernardi is except that it has nothing to do with Sumrall and he has been "gone" from the team since after the SBC Title Game.

Let's go get dj uiagalelei out of the portal to throw the ball to him. We've got Goose Crowder waiting in the wings... and he looks very bit capable of taking over and being the next great QB at Troy. I'm really looking forward to the QB competition next season. I think who the coach is and the offensive scheme will go a long way in it, it will be interesting to see Goose, Kilcrease, Sherrod and the two freshmen (if they both stay committed). Each one of them is very different from the other and of course, if someone in the portal jumps in, it will make things even more interesting. Of course there is the very likely chance one (or more) of the current QBs transfer out, too.

This is as big - if not bigger - than anything Troy could do recruiting wise this season. It's on the level of Sumrall convincing Martial to return for his senior year. It happening before a coach is even announced is big time.

Nice to see that commitment. But correct me if wrong, he is not eligible for another transfer but could go pro ? Dude can ball, Major talent. Troy’s next NFLer He's draft eligible.

It's my understanding they will grant you an extra 30 days (past the limit) to enter the transfer portal after a coaching change but not waive the one free transfer rule because of it.

Hopefully we can keep guys like Kimani Vidal and Chris Lewis. Vidal has the opportunity to declare for the draft. With a new coach, I think we'll see a few juniors do just that. Some of them probably would have done that anyway. For what it's worth, Kimani and Javon both went through Senior Day activities. Javon gave me a non-answer when I asked him if he had decided and smirked the entire time. So, I would just about bet he declares for the draft.

No to Bill Clark. A 65 year old guy with health issues does not fit our culture. Joe Craddock or Caddy. Bill Clark is 56/57 at the most. Health issues, no clue. 55 Bill Bradford Clark (born June 28, 1968) is a retired American football coach. Wiki It's definitely not fair to just cast him aside because of "health issues." His issues were back problems. He actually had spinal fusion about a year ago. I have no idea if he even wants to get back into coaching but if and when he does, I'm sure it won't take long for him to land somewhere.

I really appreciate everyone. This whole ordeal has really sucked but the support I've had - even from people I've never even met - has really been awesome for me. No one owes me anything, so the fact that people want to help - even if just by saying kind words - makes me feel really great. Thank you again.

Glad y’all liked it. It was a challenging interview from a technical standpoint. We lost audio and video as he was traveling several times. But it still came together pretty dang good! Hope to get him on again sometime and dive into a few more things a little off football talk. He's easily the most pursanable football coach I've ever been around, high school, college or pros.

Being a retired Army guy, I've always been a huge fan of Rusty. Glad HCJS retained him. Learned something new about RJ as well. Great article Josh. This is one I've wanted to for a long while. S&C coaches don't the credit they deserve a lot of the times and seeing him at practices and his energy made me really appreciate him.

I’ve met Mike Turk a few times and each time I was star struck. I mumble a bunch. I met Tommy Tuberville once and spoke perfectly. My wife said I must be improving. I said he’s not one of my heroes. Ironically enough I interviewed Tubberville on Tuesday and Turk on Thursday. I try to keep interviews to around 15 minutes (for several reasons) but we talked for about 45. Tons of stories and was cool just to listen to him talk about football.
