Don’t want to hear anything about the non-travel at the end. Don’t blow an 18 point second half lead

Ole Miss star running back has entered the portal. He’s from Montgomery and played at Pike Road. I doubt we have a shot but never say never. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up at Auburn

Just search "Troy offer" on X, and you'll see where HC Gerad Parker, Caleb Carbine, and our LB coach have been recruiting hard for high school, JUCO, and portal players. Lots of very talented players with great size and high ratings that Troy has been going after. Things are looking good. Any QBs?

We didn’t get the W but I made almost to the end before my stamina got low. I did see our TD what a play as I was making my way to the shuttle. Now to continue the recovery. Can’t wait to see how we do under our new leadership. Keep fighting!

Just doesn’t appear to be our day today. Lousy way to end the season…XHCJ$ bails, you have other coaches with one foot out the door, and then a decent portion of the team gets sick.

If Gunnar isn’t 100% put Goose in. These coaches have zero desire to make adjustments since they are out the door I am glad I am not the only one thinking this

I haven't been able to confirm much, but this I can confirm. It's Brent's search, no outside headhunters are invovled in the process whatsoever (nor was any involved in the Sumrall hire). Also, Sumrall's buyout was close to $1.5 million. Brent doesn't need headhunters. He has Troyfans.com. Indeed. Give me Dell (or Barlow) or give me death!

Alright…I’ve slept on it and I was pissed yesterday, but today I have a little more level head. Head coaching is Jon’s job. Why do any of us go to our job everyday….to get a check. It is about the money. If a former employer of mine called me and offered to triple my current salary to come do the same job I was already doing in a very familiar setting, and I was happy when I was there in the past…I’d take it to better my family. I believe Jon loved Troy. I don’t believe it was all fake. But it’s a different love for him than for us. We are alumni, or long time community supporters, we love Troy on a different level and we can’t imagine walking away from it. For a coach, it’s a job and they love it while here, but they come and go. The timing sucks, but think about it when Neal left. It was after the bowl game and we were behind on the carousel. Now at least we have a bit more time. I’m thankful for Jon and how he turned our program around. We have a better AD doing this coaching search. We should be OK. Go Troy! This. Good recap. Jon was hired to a job, got paid to do a job, he did that job. That why one should not get attached to these coaches like some do. If Troy didn’t pay him, he wouldn’t show up for work. Just like everyone. Now what mechanisms and culture they build and say to achieve their goals for the program is different but it’s all wrapped up in the prism of the rah-rah, attitude, ”love” and puffing up the players so they can maximise their performance. Did JS care for the team and players ? Yes. Was he going to ultimately take care of his career and family ? Yes. Both can be true at the same time. Will say this, as details continue to come out, JS was looking to move out of Troy. His reasons are his own. He was not just a passive player in all the head coach openings/attention, he and his representatives were aggressive to move on. And that is fine for me. Like I said, he got hired and paid to do a job, he did it well. When I see so many people get angry and upset at JS… y’all just don’t need to get attached to these coaches like there family. Ultimately they are a means to an end. For one thing, this is not that last time a successful coach will move one from Troy. Invest your emotional (and financial) support into the program as a whole. Times have changed, Treat these coaches as hired guns, mercenaries, because that’s what they are. Maybe I’ll learn my lesson this time to not buy into all the bs that comes out of a HFBC’s mouth

All of you with inside sources… Did Jon have a meeting with the team? Or planning to? Or is it just peace out? Team meeting- I sold all of you out to move laterally for money. Peace out, good luck in your bowl game now But you, you, and especially you, come play for me

Nope. Well said but, nope.
All this stuff about family and better people making better players is garbage. It’s not like he’s leaving for a P5 job. I would get that. It’s freaking Tulane. Tulane! This is a straight money grab to go coach and live in a city with one of the highest crime rates in the country.
Bye. I hope he falls flat on his face.

He’s a mercenary just like the rest of them. He’s not leaving for a P5 job. I would get that. It’s Tulane. Sorry but it’s a money grab.
He doesn’t want to be here? Bye. I hope he falls flat on his face.

"On behalf of Troy University, I thank Coach Jon Sumrall for the outstanding leadership he has provided our football program," Troy Chancellor Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr. said. "Jon has made good on his promise to return our proud program to a championship level. In turn, our commitment to the football program is unwavering, for we will soon add an indoor practice facility to our beautiful campus as we appoint a new head coach to lead our program. Troy University remains steadfast in our pursuit of excellence and status as a leader in the Sun Belt Conference. We have a championship-winning culture within our football program, and I have full confidence our next head coach will continue that winning tradition." "I would like to thank Coach Jon Sumrall for his exemplary commitment to excellence these past two seasons leading our storied football program to back-to-back championships," Jones said. "Troy University, thanks to our incredible university leadership, has a proven track record of unwavering commitment to success and invests heavily in the development of our student-athletes. With a Sun Belt leading eight conference championships, 10 or more wins in five of the last eight seasons, a forthcoming indoor practice facility and cementing our status as a leader in our conference in commitments to our coaches and student-athletes. "We look forward to identifying the next leader of our program who will continue our trajectory as the premier football program in the Sun Belt," Jones said. "Our process will be thorough and comprehensive as we select our program's next head football coach." Smooth response. Well played. He has always been good at PR. XCJS can kick rocks

And what was all that "Yeah Troy asked me to show up for work.." bullcrap. Not gonna even lie, I've lost a ton of respect for the man. May Tulane go 0-12 for the next 3 years and make WVU look as if they made a SMART move with Neal Brown. Money talks, yes, but loyalty still matters. This was a poor exit to me. I know some of you will disagree but I'm not trying to sell ice cream or win friends or anyone's approval. A poor exit. So yes..adios... and don't waste no time packing up. Just get the heck out of town and over to that cesspool of an outdoor toilet. Bye. Just another coach who is full of it, just like the rest “Troy asked me to show up for work.” What a load of crap.

100% If you want to retain staff and athletes you announce this weekend. In todays world of TicTock and Instagram you make power moves. Make the power move that's not AuBarn leftovers but AuBarn greatness and do it within 48 hours: Not no but hell no. We should have learned our lesson with Auburn retreads by now. Cadillac is not a retread by any stretch of the imagination

Man, some of y’all are really angry. Why so much hate towards the man ? The guy went from $1 million to over $3 million. That is wealth, if saved right that truly sets up his family for life. He believes he can thrive there, they have nice facilities, it recent success proves you can win there, and he won’t be living in the projects. I have zero problem with a man improving his and his families lot in life. Our chooses are our own. He made a choice, I respect it. And he worked his A** off while he was here. I salute the man and wish him well. Made Troy a better place. It is a lateral move. That’s the issue. I would be good if it was a P5, like CNB, then I’d have zero issue. It’s Tulane. Let that sink in…Tulane. And if you can’t live comfortably when making over $1 Million at Troy, then you might not be a good steward of your money. Not to mention all the players in the current roster that will go with him. Last time I ever buy into the love and family bs from a college coach
