Great idea for Rush Propst as OC. Let's take a guy that's never coached a lick of college football at any level, and promote him all the way up to an FBS offensive coordinator. Does anyone here really think that the majority of players are going to respect him as their coach, knowing his past? Just a little over two years ago he was reprimanded by the GHSAA for head butting his own player... you people want this guy as OC??? You think he fits the culture that Neal Brown established??
That might've been cool when Erk Russel was headbutting Ga Southern guys ... but that's just stupid ... childish ... out of control.

Why are we still talking about Rush....man, he might be your pal, but it isnt going to happen. Iâve never met Rush. Every guy I know they played for him absolutely loved playing football for him and he is a very good playcaller. DING! Thought we just hired (The HC we don’t speak of) to call plays?

It's back to the old staff. Maybe they were working on the new page ... and didn't mean to put it up?

KU fansâ reaction 247sports.com/college/kansas/Board/103723/Contents/(The HC we don’t speak of)-(The HC we don’t speak of)-KU-football-offensive-coordinator-may-take-Troy-job-127608224/ Feel sorry for them but thatâs business. Actually feels good stealing a coordinator from a P5 school... they still have Les Miles anyways. Just wondering ... are we required to go onto the KU site and tell them how we feel sorry for them and how classy they are and how we know how it feels and how we wish them the best .... Just sayin ...

This is big! It'll be nice if he makes real good impression on us/media tomorrow ... but making that positive impression on the players is huge! Go Trojans!

I'm guessing the thing about he wife thinking the HC job wasn't for him ... likely had more to do with his/their quality of life (stress, travel, time, expectations, etc) than life in Troy. Just a guess? I mean it's not like Morgantown is "big city/bright lights".

I think once he starts more video review he will notice the conference as a whole is more physical on both sides of the ball, especially the top tier teams. Interesting point!!!! This conference has had more improvement than ANY other conference in its level of play be it via coaching or more 3 stars etc. Most conferences have been the usual ebb and flow. Ours has been UP. Agreed. Top to bottom ... much improvement. You have to be ready to play every week. And things go in cycles. Few years ago, the "west" teams were really good (Ark St. , LA) ... they'll be back. We need all the teams improving ... and winning Out of conference! We will have arrived when we get multiple teams ranked ... at same time! It can happen if we all win out of conference!

Me and Doc71 are both available to be the OL coaches. Positives- two for one pricing, Doc coaches left side I coach right side, both of us are Troy guys Negatives- extensive knowledge of wishbone blocking schemes, two 50+ year old has beens and we might require short naps during practice Heck, I even coached the Spread for about 15 years!! Of course ... didn't know anything about it when I first started ... was coaching veer/wishbone technique the first year I coached ... also ran drills for cutting LBs/DBs! Didn't know until one got a penalty that you couldn't do that in HS! But I learned over time. I'm really reconsidering my career path/choice. With the big $$ these guys make, maybe I should've stuck with my plan to coach when I finished playing. I can retire in a couple years ... maybe I could get on as a Volunteer/Analyst ... think it's too late?? I figure by the time I'm 65 or so I could work my way up to assistant to the OL coach!!

Would love both Davern Williams and Shelton Felton but they both just signed with Akron, think they’d come back home? Would also love Zach Yenser. He’s a Troy guy and also a good guy/coach Where is Yesner coaching? We hired him once before and he left a week later with TF for Cal Seems Yesner has been at Kansas since 2015 ... was he offered to stay? He was Run game coordinator and OL coach. I would imagine it would be hard to bring him in if Miles wants him to stay? Unless of course he thinks the MIles experiment won't last long?

NOW THAT would be a GREAT HIRE! I know, I know there are many on this board that think Rush is scab and isnt worthy of a chance, but DUDE CAN COACH. This would be a GREAT opportunity to give a guy a second chance in the state of Alabama. He has faced his demons head on and has survived in Moultrie, Ga. Top 25 HS in the country and his offenses are incredible. If there was ever a time to get him here and give him a chance, this is it. I would love for it to happen (I have forgiveness and forgetfulness in my heart) it would be a GREAT DAY for Troy University. I hope he has severe ties with (The HC we don’t speak of) and gets a chance! Let him tell his story to the moms and dads that remember. Use the 'don't ask/don't tell' method when on the trail. I'm not opposed to him because of any issues in his personal life ... I'm flawed as they come so I can't judge. I say no because he has no College ... much less FBS ... experience. If you wanted to give a successful HS coach as shot at as a position coach (assuming he could offer a lot in recruiting, etc) ... that's fine, but not as an OC!!! Also, I just remember the snippets from the TV show ... the arrogance of lording access to scholarships, etc over the kids. I'm sure that might've just been for show, and I'm sure he's grown maybe ... but we just don't need that kind attitude. Just my opinion.

So, isn't the Sanders plane sometimes used for Troy? Is there someone on the Purdue staff? Not sure if they'd send a plan for an assistant? Maybe Brian Brohm is going to be interviewed??

**2010 Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year** **2010 All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team** **2010 New Orleans Bowl MVP** Dear God man look up his recievers and backs that season. That's pretty much true of every QB who has a great year. The Clemson kid is a stud ... but did you see the catches the kid from Phx City made!! Fortunately, assuming we keep the signed WRs ... we'll have both solid QBs and some talented WRs/Backs!!! Go Trojans! And Robinson did have a gun. I think he relied too much on that arm strength ... tried to make every throw ... got in trouble sometimes.

I wonder if this guy going to stay. No good coach is going to stay. It's an unfortunate reality we just aren't used to yet. Yeah. Remember what Ark State went through few years back. I think they had a new coach 3 or 4 years in a row? And ... kept winning. We can do that too if need be

I know everyone loves Levi and Kelvin, but I really really like Corey Robinson. (The HC we don’t speak of) was the guy who brought him along. I think that we have a shot at developing our QBs even more under (The HC we don’t speak of). I also think that he got a raw deal at Auburn. I think we will be really good on offense. Now we need to replace a legend in Vic for defense.
Honestly my first choice wouldn't have been (The HC we don’t speak of), but I'm just a fan. You know Blakeney and Turk and all those guys who really know football probably had input into this hire.
I didn't watch much of Auburn ... but the few times I did, it looked like the plan wasn't bad, it was execution. Lot's of missed throws ... drops, etc. So, I know it's the coach's responsibility ... but the coach can just put people in the position ... they have to make the plays. Sometimes they don't. I pulled up some video on youtube watching him. I like the demeanor ... enthusiastic, but controlled. If he's the guy ... let's get ready for a great 2019!!

Other than Troy, Neal Brown had never been at any one place for more than two seasons... and he would've have been there more than 2 if he'd been offered a P5 job. What if he'd had a major turn around in 2015 ... maybe winning 10-11 games and got offered ... he'd been gone. It's the profession. It's about timing and taking opportunities.

Good grief, what a bunch of Debbie Downers. Instead of bad mouthing the guy before heâs had a chance to coach the team, how about we lighten up and give the guy a chance. Yep. If (The HC we don’t speak of) is out coach ... then he's our Coach!! Positive energy ... in and around the program ... is important! If he's our coach, he needs to be reassuring our signees ... closing some more commitments ... and attracting the best possible staff our budget can handle!! So, I'm 100% behind him ... or whoever they introduce!! Then .. we can judge results ... that's fine. But give the guy a chance.

Only way I get excited about this is if we can add Sumrall as DC. Sorry...just how I feel. I can't really see a young coach leaving SEC school to be DC at Troy. I guess in this crazy world ... anything could happen, but doubt it.

Is it ok to not be overly excited immediately? I think so. I wasn't all that excited about Neal when he arrived ... and he did a good job. Big issues: DC and staff, O-line coach, and strength coach.

Vic is still around the field housing; waiting on his new Head Coach: Jon Sumrall. Soon you will see them both standing on the 50 yard line singing the Troy Trojans fight song. I see a Sun Belt Conference Championship in our near future. According to WVU media: Both Vic Koenning and Rafael Horton were on the plane with Coach Brown today. Dang ... figured we'd lose Horton, he came from KY with Neal. Hoped we might be able to give him a bigger title/more $ maybe and keep him. Who replaces him will be a really big hire!! There was such a drastic change as far as how players looked ... leaner, stronger, etc. ... after Horton took over.

Kind of going along with above post about a plan, etc. Here's the really well done story on "The Athletic" about Neal's approach ... "details, data, development..." Good stuff. It's not enough to just know football or study football ... it's about teambuilding, leadership development, etc. theathletic.com/497891/2018/08/31/troy-football-neal-brown-sun-belt-conference/ (it's a membership deal ... I did the free trail! ) So, it's at least encouraging that both Sumrall and (The HC we don’t speak of) did Grad level work in Leadership: (The HC we don’t speak of) in Education, Sumrall in Sports Leadership. At least it shows they at learners and willing to innovate, etc.

First day of classes and no announcement made public. One day wasted in off season conditioning. Announce a coach or something I would assume they are continuing to workout. There's lots of guys on the S/C staff that would still be around (GAs, etc.) ... Horton hasn't been announced yet as being at WV ... so I'm sure he's not abandoning our guys. Remember ... players now a days spend very little time with "Coaches" (position or HC) due to NCAA limits. It's the S/C staff ... that's who they spend most of their time with.

This is what the KU athletics site said about him: "Upon joining Milesâ staff just more than five weeks ago, (The HC we don’t speak of) signed a four-year term sheet with KU, with Kansas Athletics holding an option for the final year of the deal. However, the terms state (The HC we don’t speak of) can leave to become an FBS head coach without being bought out." Doesn't sound like a buyout issue? www2.kusports.com/news/2019/jan/09/ku-football-oc-(The HC we don’t speak of)-(The HC we don’t speak of)-reportedly-candidate-h/

I want the best one we can get ... no matter what. I want the one that comes into the interview and blows folks away (whoever is in the room) with their passion, knowledge, and a very specific plan (tailored to our players/school/fanbase, etc) for how they will lead this program to the next level: competing for SBC crown every year ... winning most years; winning most of out out of conference games, and keeping us in the national conversation! Also, a very detailed plan on how they will develop players on and off the field. Experience is important ... but they need to show they've done the homework/research on us, and have a very specific long-term plan!!
