Unless App State loses next week, I’d think the university publicly says ZERO about hosting. The bowl situation is different, everybody knows you’re going to a bowl. It’s not a jinx or bad mojo to promote it. I don’t think you can promote a championship game when you still have to win one OR two games. I’d also bet the email is typed and ready to click send IF we win Saturday and App losses or if it all comes down to the App game word will be out before you finish your post game rituals. Remember we have an athletic staff now that knows what they are doing. Don’t panic.

Tough loss. Great effort by the Trojans with a 4 point loss on the front end of this road trip

Go to over to Columbus and through Reynolds and Fort Valley to I16. There really is no easy way to get there. Thanks, we were leaning that way.

In the year 2018, I know there are dozens of apps and websites that do this, but I'm planning my travel for the big game and see multiple options to get to "GATA" town. I've been all over the country, but never this part of the world. Anyone with experience recommend a route from Troy to Statesboro?
Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

I like it. It's dead space so why not make some money off of it. I noticed alfa bought a large banner in the north endzone. More money for athletics. Nice. It would be even better next to the banners of our all time greats. Maybe get those sponsored ? They look great in the NEZ and every single recruit gets to see them.

Any chance there's a bus going without Amos? Or a van with two open spots? lol The Amos bus was going but they could not fill it. So I doubt there is an Amos'less bus

Two of us will be making our first trip to Statesboro. Can’t wait.
As for the bad snaps. CNB mentioned Deonta was hurt, after his 2nd terrible snap, they pulled him. Not sure of the injury but certainly have to get that fixed.
I think the kick offs were all strategic. I for one would like to see the rotation stay the same. Sumpter is on fire in the other two portions of the kicking game. I’d rather not wear him out.

This was a great win today, a hard fought battle between two good football teams. Below are some random thoughts about the game: The end result was wonderful. We got a lead and then went into time management mode which forced LaLa to alter their game plan. Because we were able to burn clock, they had to start trying to throw the ball in order to get big chunks of yardage in short periods of time. This played right into our strength. We got to Munoz and made some big plays. That doesn't mean that I was comfortable or that I wasn't screaming for us to throw the ball (I was) but it worked today and we won. How we won is immaterial and I'm not the one being paid to make that happen, so I'll just come along for the ride. It sure is fun. We play "Next Man Up" better than anybody I've ever seen. Douglas goes down, Willis has >200 yds receiving. Jones and Rookard are unable to play, Dunlap steps in and does a stellar job at safety and punt returns. Drives stall, Sumpter ties a school record for number of field goals in a game (4). We are deep with quality players and it shows. Related to the previous point, we lose a lot of seniors off this team after this season and next year will be an opportunity for multiple guys to make their mark. Some of them are already doing that. This is the part of that situation that really has my attention. We have very few juniors starting on this squad. Most, not all, but most, of the starters are seniors or sophomores. The '20 season should be VERY interesting. There was a big question when the season started about who was going to replace Chunn. That question has been answered. Smith is a great running back and today he gained 100 yds on the ground for the 5th consecutive game. He broke Arrid Gregory's record of 4 such games today. We found our running back. Today, Sawyer showed the skills that made some say he should have been the starter over Barker. He dropped some beautiful throws in a basket on go routes, including the long TD pass to Willis. We have 2 quality QB's and we can win with either. This team is fun to watch. Can we win out? Oh yeah. Will we? Time will tell, but I'm counting on being in Troy on December 1. How about you? Good observation!

The La La game sets the tone for the remaining four games. Win and I think we win out, lose and we might go 1-3 in this stretch. Time to set the tone Sat fellas. Go Troy!!! I don't disagree with that, but I felt going into the South game, that would set the tone for the final stretch. I'm not saying we win out, I'm not saying we lose 1 or more. I just know it all starts tomorrow and nothing will be easy. The winner of the East might very well have a loss.

Its happening in front of your eyes.....
Ahhhh, the twilight years of CLB tenure. The dean of Troy football that stayed a few extra years too long. When the Apologist fans were shouting “give it one more year”, “ it’s not Rowell’s fault”, to finally “bring back Rowell as HC” Glad their wishes were not granted. Nobody on this board ever wanted Rowell to be Head Coach. I do wish his OLB's the best in every game except for the one on 11/10. Like DT said, ULLALALALALA is YUGE threat and they worry the crap outta me too

We have Louisiana or ULALA or ULL or LL or whomever they prefer to be called coming into town this week. This game scares me, the best player on the field (Marcus Jones) will not be on the field for a few weeks (possibly season). This affects all 3 phases of the game, you can't replace that kind of guy. However, our staff has done a great job of preparing the "next man up". I know they can get it done, but the focus has to be on ULL right now, not Georgia Southern, otherwise Georgia Southern is irrelevant.

I disagree with "not being able to pass the ball". Tuesday night it seemed Sawyer passed the ball pretty well. BJ rushed for a bunch of yards, we threw when needed, deep ball was on target.
I agree that the meat of the schedule is coming up, so the challenge is here. We got a nice break to heal some injuries that are able to be healed.
If App State's QB misses significant time, they are out of the race and it will come down to us and Georgia Southern (who has La Mo, Coastal and Georgia State left)
I'll stick with the glass half full, 10-2

Louisiana is going to be tough for sure. I think we need to re-examine our defense because we gave up a lot of yardage on simple draw and pass plays up the middle. We'll get gashed to death by the teams we're about to play if we can't meet the runner at the line. Unrelated question: Do we have a championship game if the two best Sunbelt Teams are in the East or is it best record in the East plays best record in the West for all the marbles regardless? East vs West for all the marbles. Much like the SEC for many years when the West division may have two top 5 teams, but they have to play the East champ who may be ranked 50th

I too prefer the underdog role. From a Troy fan standpoint, I HATE the fact that we are basically in a playoff every week. As a football fan however, it's flippin awesome. We win each the next 5 to advance to the first ever conference championship. That is pretty stinkin awesome! The fact that the road travels through Statesboro and Boone is even more awesome.
With all that said, one game at a time, nothing matters outside of the Battle for the Belt!

Could you imagine the responses if we ever played the cess pool redneck college to the North of us again lol. It would be great to say WHUP JAX ST once more in football I think that’d be a good one for the older generations but most of us recent grads or current students know nothing of that rivalry yep, means nothing to me

I have talked with several of the students who are going, they are pumped and ready to be there. The Liberty game did not affect them at all.

If we were going to lay an egg in the middle of the season this past weekend was the one to do it. The loss to Liberty doesn't hurt our chances of winning the conference. Now it's all a matter of acknowledging the mistakes we made, correcting them in practice, using that knowledge to go out and beat the pants off South. Except this is the third straight year we've had one of these let down games so evidently we're not learning anything from them Because 18-22 year olds are always perfect and no other team in the country ever has let down games. The best teams in the country have the same problem, Ask UGA (vs Aub and LSU), Penn State (vs multiple teams), Clemson (vs Syracuse), Bama (vs Aub)

In their first season of FBS?
We’ve discussed this before but I’ve never known the reason. Jeremy McClain is on pregame with the radio crew and explained we were scheduled to play UMASS there in November but after thinking on it, realized November in Massachusetts was probably not best for a southern team. At the same time Liberty was in need of finalizing their schedule and agreed on the necessary details and there you have it.

We actually practiced on Sunday and Monday instead of taking one of those off in anticipation of not being able to go tomorrow. So, tomorrow will be the scheduled off day for the week. Y’all are very wise.

They will have time to practice tomorrow morning before the bulk of the rain gets here. Classes getting cancelled actually helped.

I spoke with someone within the program who told me the SunBelt rules for next season really screwed up this season. If you remember, some of the mid-majors are going with the flex schedule next season and he said it completely changed the way they typically schedule. They got who they could het this season, no way to line up 2 year contracts or home and homes anymore. I'm curious as to how basketball and baseball works for visiting teams? Are they paid a set amount like football or is it a percentage of ticket sales and attendance. We draw pretty poor in basketball so if its a percentage I could see why some bigger teams might shy away. I'm pretty sure it's a set amount, no percentages involved.

What is the point of playing Fort Valley St (D2), ARK Pine Bluff (SWAC), UNA (just moved up), Carver College (Nat Christian College Athletic Association) They are sure wins but prove zilch. I like we are playing Pitt, Austin Peay, FSU, WKU, UAB. That's how you get better. Play the toughest teams you can in OOC to make you better for the tourney. I read an interview that Pat Summit gave. She said she had her team play the toughest teams imaginable becuase she wanted them playing the best because when tourney time came, her team had been tested by the best. I somewhat miss the days when we were 4-8, back then half you people didn’t comment about how bad we were. You just didn’t care so you disconnected. Now reading this thread it seems we are 0-5 and our coaches should be in another profession. It’s time for me to check out of this place. I don’t understand y’all.
