Now that I have read the article. Young folks are being told that a degree is a bad investment. They calculate the cost of a degree and the student loans that follow them to the grave against potential earnings and opt out. I have 3 degrees and make a good salary working for a company. My salary is nowhere near what two of my wealthiest friends make working for themselves without multiple degrees. One friend does have a BS from Troy, and he cleans dryer vents. He makes much more money than I do. My second friend has no degree and he sells and installs window blinds. He also invested in rental properties and is now a multi millionaire at age 50. College is overpriced and the cost is not based on return on investment. For example, a nursing student at Troy and a liberal arts student pay the same, but one graduate has earning potential more than the other. College is broken and kids are starting to see that it can quickly go from an investment to a scam. I'm in the camp of some degrees being bad investments. Most people know this, but I dropped out of Troy after three failing quarters and never took another college course. College is not for everyone, hard work goes a long way and we need more electricians, plumbers, mechanics and HVAC people.

We should be focused on seeing the Troy campus get to 10,000 and shut down all the satellites. I was at a health fair at the Dothan campus this week and I have no idea what the purpose of this facility is. That property is worth millions and is nothing more than a JUCO with an empty parking lot. I was there 4 hours and saw zero students. If its purpose is school at night, and it’s going well then clearly I’m in the wrong.

Great article. I heard a rumor when I was in school that the reason the University got rid of the bearded T-Roy was because he resembled Osama Bin Ladin too much but I don't know how true that is. Yes it was after September 11th but we had also just jumped to Division One and the school could have just wanted a new look. I heard USC sent a letter telling Troy that they could no longer use that version of the mascot. Again, strictly rumor back in the day

"Alston Money" may be the implication here??? NIL $ will most definitely impact all G5 programs. I learned something here. I’d not heard of “Alston Money”. Thanks, Teach. Alston money is only a few years old and like cost of attendance (COA) is another form where student athletes can receive funds directly from the university. From On3 sports Alston awards can provide athletes with up to $5,980 annually. Alston awards don’t receive the same media attention as NIL deals, but they could prove to be even more financially lucrative for a greater number of Division I athletes across all sports

Hopefully I'm not jinxing them, but defense is VASTLY improved from last year. If we had a good defense, we would have won the first two games in the Tuscaloosa regional and maybe made our first Super Regional. Hopefully the arms will continue to settle in. Facts, huge improvement in that area and yes last year would have been completely different had the defense been solid.

I’ll say the same thing here I’ve said to others. I’ve been fortunate enough to talk with Coach GP and many assistants several times. I’ll take their ability to communicate (to us, to fans and more importantly to recruits and their families) over anybody. They are all very personable and check all the right boxes off the field. Just today i heard another good story about GP out in the community doing the right things. In short, We are gonna be just fine.

Have the dates for our football games schedule has been set. I am trying to set my fall schedule and reserve hotels. For whatever reason the SunBelt does not announce dates until March 1st. It’s the most archaic thing we do. We know opponents and locations, just no dates.

These Trojans don't quit, down by 19 but made it a contest in the final 5 minutes, at their home on National TV. I'm taking the stairs. I'm taking the stairs, but I may need one of those motorized lift things. O2 man, you sell those? Sorry, we don't carry those.

Troy still has a chance for a 20-win season... which is WAY OVERACHIEVING after only returning five players from last year. If 20+ wins happens, Troy will be the only team in the SBC with three 20+ win seasons in a row. That's a huge accomplishment. In this day and age where players can leave at-will. I agree the 20 wins is incredible and means more today than years past. Like Cornhole said, I’m still taking the stairs. We may not win all 3 road games left on the schedule but we won’t lose them all either.

This weekend, we can’t be friends. I realize most on this board don’t live in Troy but one thing we hear all the time from locals is “there’s nothing to do in Troy”. I’ll put our basketball team at the top of the list of things that can entertain you in Pike County. This bunch is as fun to watch as we’ve had in a long time. Mr Ho would even appreciate some of their play as it reminds me a bit of Maestri’s “showtime” in the 90’s. My point is, coach Cross and company have a hard working bunch of guys who are now in 1st place in the Sun Belt, Saturday we step out of conference to face the mighty Nick Sabans before closing out the conference schedule over the next couple weeks. Don’t miss seeing this special group in person.

Based on my history of watching the senior bowl. Our dudes got more playing time than any Trojan before. They were on special teams, KV was the feature RB and Von didn’t leave the field. It was a good day.

Literally and figuratively whipped the GATA eagles. Word on the street is that coach Cross took Mr Ho’s challenge personally.
