I officially would like to call this thread (ok unofficial) mental mast….n thread. We can not do anything about what may or may not happen this year or next. Jon Sumrall has done and will do a great job for us as long as he is here. I wish this thread would die till we have the next one either entitled: CAN YOU BELIEVE HE STAYED THIS LONG and the co-thread of: WHO GONNA BE OUR NEXT COACH. Till then ride the wave and to several take up something to relax you like knitting or pot smoking. Buzz, are edibles acceptable? Buzz, some folks on this thread need to read the last sentence of your post above.

It was the Dana Holgorsen domino falling in the domino effect when we lost Neal and now Jon. I hate that guy.

Hell of a coach. Extremely hard to replace. Troy is a very desirable G5 job. There won’t be a lack of applicants

DT would not take my child to live in that cess pool of a $hit hole for $4mil a year. Tells me all I need to know about Sumroll (bankroll).
Next man up. Hope we catch his b!tch @ss in a bowl.

Probably in all honesty, it’s been all over for awhile. Kinda like the Titanic, Sumrall hit that iceberg days ago and Troy fans just waiting on deck until the water filled up. We March on, as someone already said in this thread , NEXT MAN UP !

Dec 20 early signing day. Can we hire the right coach in 10-12 days and still keep our recruits?

Man, some of y’all are really angry. Why so much hate towards the man ? The guy went from $1 million to over $3 million. That is wealth, if saved right that truly sets up his family for life. He believes he can thrive there, they have nice facilities, it recent success proves you can win there, and he won’t be living in the projects. I have zero problem with a man improving his and his families lot in life. Our chooses are our own. He made a choice, I respect it. And he worked his A** off while he was here. I salute the man and wish him well. Made Troy a better place.

I know this isn’t popular but it feels like a betrayal and all this “Troy is special” was just coach talk nonsense. All that matters is $$$ and we’ll never be able to keep up with schools that get higher revenue even if this is the “SEC of G5 football”

Lot of player will hit the portal I imagine too. Some may wait until they see who gets hired. Best of luck Jon thank you for bringing us 2 SBC championships. I will be a Troy man if we go 0-12 next year. This is the state of college football. If you want to come to Troy and win 10+ games a year and leave to another school I'm good. Start a new thread Next HC

I think every emotion expressed here has some validity.
If you're mad that a guy who preached "Love" as a core value then bolted at what seems like is a lateral opportunity for more money, I get that. I understand why you'll be less likely to trust the next coach.
If you don't fault a guy for tripling his salary while maybe advancing his career stature just a hair, I understand that too. Many of us would, especially if the money could generate generational wealth for decades to come.
If you wish to find a coach that would stay longer than two seconds and really buy into this wonderful place we call Troy, I'm totally on board.
If you understand and accept that is unlikely to happen with a GOOD coach that consistently wins, I understand that, too.
What we need to accept in this college football world where vicissitude is the norm — players transfer quickly, coaches leave quickly, etc. — is that the true fans ARE THE STABILIZING FORCE. As someone noted earlier from Neal Brown: Troy will always win. It's about the people who support financially whenever they make a donation or buy a Troy T-shirt. It's about the administration that guides these investments. It's about a community that FINALLY understands it's an FBS community and is acting that way.
I'm excited about what the future generations and alumni will do in 10-15 years. They know Troy and only Troy. Those who attended school with me knew Auburn and Troy or Alabama and Troy because we grew up with both since both were on different levels.
The Sumralls and Browns will come and go. The Rosses and the Oxygen Joneses will be here 30 years from now. Let us stand unshaken as The Mighty Trojan Death Machine the fans really are.
Let us take a few moments to heal and let us root the players and coaches who are still around with all of our might. We have a nice opportunity ahead — to win the first bowl game that pits a Sun Belt team against a Power 5.

Sumrall bolted from Troy literally the first chance he got but not for a Power 5 school like Neal Brown did but for Tulane. Tulane of all places. This completely throws our program into chaos. We don't know how many assistants we'll lose, how many recruits we'll lose and how many players will hit the transfer portal. We have to start over from scratch. I feel betrayed.

I am not indifferent to your points. But say if he, let’s say bolted for Kentucky instead of Tulane today the program chaos portion of your post remains the same. Is a lot people’s issue with him leaving solely or vast majority due to the perceived going for the money ?
